    Beside Your Doorstep, there is no other place I can turn to,If I have any need, I place my head at Your Doorstep.

    Through Your Grace and Mercy, bestow me with suchl ov e f or You,

    That Akhtar sacrifices his heart and soul only for You.

    For how long will I remain disgraced in the servitudeof my enemy i.e. my Nafs,

    O Al lah Ta a la ! You mak e this wo rth less one Yo urB el ov ed o nc e m ore .

    Remove the love of ghair-ullah* from the heart andmake us from amongst Your Chosen servants,

    O My Lord! bestow Your special Grace upon us all.

    The love of ghair-ullah refers to the love of all those things which

    h a v e b e e n s t r i ct l y f o r bi dden e . g . t h e l o v e o f s tr a n g e wo m e n , o r

    handsome young lads. The love of those things which are

    permissible are not included e.g. the love of

    ones wife or children etc.

    I will become intoxicated at the sight of the Green Dome,At times I will be filled with Noor (spiritual effulgence)

    and at times I will be like Mount Toor.

    Within myself, I will be greived at the sins that I have

    commited,By the blessings of the intercession of Nabi ( )

    Some people say, W h e r e i n th e Quraan d o e s i t sa y th a t w e

    should not look at women? Allah Taala commands us in the

    H o l y Quraan:

    O Nabi ( )! Say to the believing men! Lower

    some of your gazes! i.e. shift your gazes away fromstrange women and handsome young lads.

    Thereafter, the punishment and wrath of Allah Taala descended,

    w h e n o n e i s e n j o y i n g o n e s s e l f w h i l s t c a s t i n g e v i l g l a n c e s ,

    o n e s h o u l d i n f a c t f e a r A l l a h T a a l a , b e c a u s e t h i s e n j o y m e n t

    th a t o n e e x p e r i e n c e s i s i n f a c t p u n i sh m e n t, h e n c e o n e sh o u l d

    i m m e d i a t e l y f l e e f r o m s u c h s i t u a t i o n s .

    I believe in Allah and His Messengers.

    T h i s Dua i s a c u r e f o r t h e e v i l w h i s p e r i n g s o f Shaytaan.

    O n e s h o u l d s a f e g u a r d t h e h e a r t , i . e . o n e s h o u l d n o t

    entertain any evil thoughts in the heart, nor derive unlawful

    p l e a s u r e f r o m f a n t a c i s i n g a b o u t u n l a w f u l b e a u t i e s .

    S i m i l a r l y , o n e s h o u l d n o t r e c a l l a n d r e m i n i s c e a b o u tp a s t s i n s a n d t a k e p l e a s u r e t h e r e o f . I f , h o w e v e r , e v i l

    t h o u g h t s c o m e i n t o t h e h e a r t a n d m i n d , t h e n r e m e m b e r

    a n i m p o r t a n t p o i n t .

    If thoughts come on their own, then there is no evil in this.

    However, if one intentionally fantacises and bring evil

    thoughts into the heart and mind, then this will beconsidered as a sin. If an evil thought o cc ur s,

    and one begins to occupy ones self in

    such thoughts, then this is also a sin.

    Mahram or handsome young lads. (i.e. such lads who are

    beardless and one is attracted to them. Translators note)

    such as performing Tawaaf , m a k i n g Tilawat a n d r e c i ti n g

    R e g a r d i n g p a ssi n g a w a y i n Madinah, R asu l u l l ah ( )

    has mentioned that whoever has the abi li ty to do so, then

    he should come to Madinah and pass away there. Rasulullah

    ( ) will in tercede on behalf of that person who passesa w a y i n Madinah.

    O n e s h o u l d c o n s i d e r o n e s s e l f t o b e a s e r v a n t a n d n o t

    one who deserves to be served. One should b e a m eans of

    serving others and consider serving t hem to be ones honour.

    this Makruh time, because to protect ones life is obligatory.T h e r e f o r e , o n e s h o u l d g o a f t e r Magrib o r a f t e r Esha or

    During the hot season, carry some water with you. If one

    has a fl ask, one can store some cool water in it an d take

    W h i l s t i n t h e s t a t e o f Ihraam, t h e w o m e n f o l k s h o u l d n o t

    c o v e r t h e i r f a c e s w i t h t h e i r h e a d g e a r ( Burqah). T h e w h i t e

    part of Ihraam, it is merely for the protection of the hair.

    Some women, out of ignorance, take this piece of cloth t o

    b e s o n e c e s s a r y , t h a t t h e y e v e n m a k e Masah o v e r t h i s

    c l o t h , a s t h e y w r o n g l y t h i n k t h a t b y r e m o v i n g t h i s c l o t h ,

    their Ihraam will break ( ). This is complete ignorancea n d t o t a l l y w r o n g . I f t h e r e a r e n o Ghair-Mahrams p r e s e n t ,

    then they may remove this cloth. The use of this cloth is not

    even necessary. When they are making Wudhu, they should

    re mov e t hi s cl ot h, a nd ma ke Masah o f t he ha ir , o th er wi s e

    Wudhu will not be valid. Care should be taken that the veil

    Hazrat Hakeem-ul-Thanwi ( ) h a s w r i t t e n t h a t a p e r s o n

    once complained that the yoghurt of Madinah was sour, w h i l st

    the yoghurt in India was sweet. On the same night, he saw Nabi

    ( ) in a dream. Nabi ( ) said to him, Leave MadinahMunawwarah a n d r e tu r n h om e a t o n c e ! Yo u r e l i sh th e yo g h u r t

    of India, but you do not relish the yoghurt of my city! O foolish

    o n e! W h y h av e y ou c om e h e r e i n t h e fi r s t p l ac e ! T h e p e r so n

    cried alot, but it was of no benefit. Disrespect is a very dangerous

    t h i n g , t h e r e f o r e o n e s h o u l d n o t c r i t i c i s e a n y t h i n g i n Madinah

    Munawwarah. W h o e v e r i s p r e s e n t i n Madinah, r e s p e c t a n d

    honour them, and look upon them with an affectionate gaze. A person should not look for faults i n the first place. One should

    remain focussed an d do whatever one has to do.

    May the curse of Allah be upon the one who castevil glances, and those who adorn themsel ves so

    that people may cast evil glances at them.

    R emember that N a b i ( ) h a s c u r s e d t h e o n e w h o c a s t s

    e v i l g l a n c e s . O n e w i l l b e r e g a r d e d a s a c c u r s e d b e c a u s e o f

    c a s t i n g l u s t f u l g l a n c e s . I n a n a r r a t i o n o f Bukhari Shareef,

    N a b i ( ) i s r epor te d to h a v e s a i d :

    Casting evil glances is Zina (fornication) of the eyes.

    T h e r e f o r e , b y c a sti n g e v i l g l a n c e s o n e w i l l b e r e g a r d e d a s a n

    adulterer. In this manner, a person will receive three evil titles:

    1 One who is disobedient to Allah Taala.

    2 One who has committed adultery of the eyes.

    3 One who is accursed i.e. one upon whom the

    c ur se o f A ll ah T aala i s.

    Simply dont bring these desires into action. The more severe

    the lust an d desire to commit evil that one experiences, i n

    Nafs o v e r p o w e r s o n e s g a z e . T h e r e f o r e , o n e s h o u l d l i f t

    o n e s g a z e w i t h m u c h c a u t i o n , j u s t a s a p e r s o n w a l k i n g

    t h r o u g h a s t o r m o p e n s h i s e y e s v e r y c a r e f u l l y .

    7 If a persons gaze accidentally falls on anything forbidden,

    then immediately shift ones gaze away. Do not fix your gaze

    f o r e v e n a s e c o n d . T h a t g a z e w h i c h f a l l s u n i n t e n t i o n a l l y

    is overlooked i n Shariah. However, in those places w h e r e

    t h e r e i s n o e n v i r o n m e n t o f Purdah, a n d t h e r e i s a g r e a t

    p o s s i b i l t y o f o n e s g a z e f a l l i n g o n t h e w r o n g p l a c e s ,t h e n o n e s h o u l d u n d e r n o c i r c u m s t a n c e s l i f t o n e s g a z e .

    I f t h e n e e d a r i s e s , t h e n o n e s h o u l d d o s o w i t h m u c h

    c a u t i o n . I f a p e r s o n l i f t s h i s g a z e w i t h o u t c a u t i o n , t h e n

    t h e Nafs w i l l t a k e f o r b i d d e n p l e a s u r e f r o m t h i s , o n t h e

    f a l s e p r e t e x t t h a t t h e f i r s t g a z e i s f o r g i v e n o r i t w a s d o n e

    u n i n t e n t i o n a l l y .

    8 Your Nafs i s m a k i n g y o u f o o l ! U n d e r s t a n d w e l l , t h a t i f

    o n e s e y e i s s e a rc h in g fo r a b e au t if u l w om an o r a h a nd -

    some young lad, if even for one second, your gaze fal l on

    t h e m , t h e n t h i s w i l l n o t b e r e g a r d e d a s a g a z e w h i c h

    o c c u r e d a c c i d e n t a l , b u t r a t h e r i t w i l l b e r e g a r d e d a s a

    gaze that occured intentionally. Therefore, it is completely

    f o r b i d d e n , a n d r e g a r d e d a s a d u l t e r y o f t h e e y e s . A n db e c a u s e o n e i n t e n t i o n a l l y s o u g h t o u t t o l o o k a t t h e s e

    o b j e c ts o f be a uty , th e r e fo r e e v e r y g l a n c e w i l l be r e g a r d e d

    as a sin, irrespective of whether ones gaze does eventually
