In May, Young Living’s beautiful and vital farm in Simiane-la-Rotonde, France, will undergo a major face-lift during its lavender planting. After two years of drought, the familiar Young Living purple will once again adorn the French hillside and return the farm to its former glory, enshrined with stunning lavender. Two months later, in July, all distributors are invited to come to southern France to celebrate the farm’s 20th anniversary with my family and I. This will be an unforgettable week, culminating in a day of farm tours and trainings in Marseille. After France you better buckle up as July kicks into full gear with Lavender Days at the Whispering Springs Farm in Mona, Utah. Simiane-la-Rotonde, FranceThe new lavender seeds that were transferred from Mona to Simiane-la-Rotonde are now growing in the farm’s greenhouse. The lavender seeds will be ready to plant during the first part of May. Preparations for the farm’s 20-year anniversary continue; the event is scheduled for July 4–7.

Guayaquil, EcuadorThe monsoon season is finally over in Ecuador, and the reservoirs on the Young Living farm are filled, providing the farm with all the water it will need through the summer. As a result, dorado azul, red geranium, and lemongrass are all coming back quickly. The ylang ylang crop has doubled in size, and the rice bed is approaching full growth and is ready to harvest. The NovaVita Clinic & Spa is complete and in operation, and 11 Ecuadorian oils are now being bottled on site.

Mona, UtahField preparations for peppermint are underway at the Whispering Springs farm, and more than 60 acres will be planted there in April and May. In addition to peppermint, 30 acres of German chamomile are ready for planting. The lavender fields are ready for the season, including the new 40-acre expansion. Also at the farm, 150 acres have been fenced off for elk and buffalo to graze and roam. Both the elk and buffalo herds have doubled in size.

St. Maries, IdahoDuring the 2012 reforestation project, 7,500 Western red cedar trees were planted at the St. Maries farm.

Naples, IdahoMore than 50,000 blue spruce, balsam fir, and Douglas fir seedlings were planted in April at the Highland Flats tree farm during the 2012 spring planting. Included in the planting were the newly purchased 74 acres directly east of the existing tree farm.

PeruWith Peru’s grand opening quickly approaching in June, we are focused on completing the new distillery by September.

See where it all began by joining Gary and Mary Young this July on an unforgettable tour of southern France in celebration of the Simiane-la-Rotonde lavender farm’s 20th anniversary.

Southern France, the Provence region in particular, is the birthplace of Gary’s fascination with essential oils. We will visit different working distilleries that will be harvesting and distilling and will see where Gary “cut his teeth” in the lavender fields in the mountains of Sederon with Marcel Espieu and Henri Viaud, his teachers and mentors who taught him the art and science of growing, harvesting and distilling.

We will visit Grasse, the perfume capital of the world, and old museums, where we will see some of the first distillers built 100 years ago. While in Grasse, we will experience Fragonard, the renowned perfume and collectible museum and then will stroll the colourful streets through Old Town Nice and visit its dazzling markets of flowers, seafood and local crafts.

Gary and Jean Noel, our farm manager, will take us on a journey from Grasse that follows the historical route of Napoleon, where he marched his army when they were returning from Egypt to Paris. We will travel through endless lavender fields; take in beautiful cities and villages including Nice, Marseille, and Monte Carlo; and visit the lavender plateau to see the large lavandin farm and to see and learn the difference between various hybrids and cloned lavenders grown in Provence.

We will travel through the high mountain plateaus where the last farms are growing original lavender and will visit the ancient capital of Simiane, dating back 900 years. Then we’ll spend a day at our gorgeous and newly renovated Simiane-la-Rotonde lavender farm, learning and participating in unique trainings and special presentations by Gary and Jean Noel and experience the crafting of wild lavender in the beautiful foothills.

As we journey from the farm, we’ll stop for lunch in beautiful Aix-en-Provence and then enjoy the rest of a short drive to the famous port of Marseilles on the enticing Mediterranean Coast.

Our final day will be spent with Gary, Jean Noel, and Dr. Herve Casabianca in a casual learning atmosphere of questions and answers.

New, exciting event will cap off transformational Convention week

Tour France with Gary & Mary Young

This year—2012—is a hallmark year for Young Living, not only for transformation but also for accomplishment. Like the Simiane-la-Rotonde lavender farm, St. Maries farm in Idaho is celebrating 20 grand years, with festivities from July 11 to August 11. The St. Maries farm is where the farming and production of Young Living oils really began and is where Gary Young built the first distillery from logs that he cut and put in place.

He was the first in all of North and South America to develop a farm in Northern Idaho for the production of lavender, clary sage, melissa, thyme and wild tansy. The farm has grown from

160 acres of land and 30 acres in crop production to 410 acres of land with 360 acres in production.

Gary built the first vertical, stainless steel, low-pressure distiller in the world at a time when mild carbon steel was all that was used in distilleries throughout the world. No one before or since has built farms and distilleries around the world to ensure or preserve quality and integrity of pure oils. Anyone can claim quality, but unless they produce it, they do not know the integrity and honesty of the distillation or the purity of the oils.

During the celebration, melissa, and lavender will be harvested, and all those who are there will be able to participate in the Seed to Seal™ process. There will be classes in the evening, white-water rafting, crafts and games, camping under the pine trees, visiting the giant cedar forest, and best of all, sitting around the campfire eating great food and harmonising in song. Stories of long ago come to life with the powerful energy and spirit of the immense pine trees and the oil they produce.

Held throughout April, the spring planting brought together distributors from far and wide to renew the soul and to plant more than 60,000 trees at the Highland Flats and St. Maries farms.“Being here for the spring planting has made me really appreciate the whole Seed to Seal® process,” said Australian distributor Jennifer Cox, who spent three weeks at this year’s planting. “It most definitely has been worth it to come over from Australia. I feel extremely grateful to be here.”Much of the excitement that swelled throughout the experience came from the 74 new acres that Young Living

recently purchased directly east of the existing Highland Flats tree farm. Having acquired the land just days before the spring planting, Young Living was able to provide its distributors with a true beginning point, an experience of clearing the fields, laying out grid systems, and digging holes—all before a single tree could be planted.“It is a lot of work,” said Susan Papinchack, a distributor from New Jersey, “but it is a great feeling to know I am part of it all. My appreciation for being here, for Young Living, for the oils, and for the people involved has really been enhanced. Seeing the energy of the company is a really great feeling.”

During the first and second weeks of April, more than 20,000 blue spruce seedlings were planted on the new land. In addition to those seedlings, more than 27,000 balsam fir and 7,600 Douglas fir were planted at Highland Flats. An estimated 7,500 Western red cedar seedlings were also planted at the St. Maries farm.Cindy Gahl, a distributor from New Mexico, had been waiting for the spring planting since last year’s event, when she was encouraged by Gary Young to write her name on a wood stake and place it into the ground at the end of the row of trees she had planted. She was thrilled to see the stake still in the ground one year later.“It means so much to me to be able to plant these trees,” said Cindy. “I so hope to be around in 10 years to appreciate the oils that will be distilled from the trees. “I appreciate Young Living so much because the employees actually take the time to let you see the process of how they get the tree into the little bottle,” Cindy added. “I think it’s just wonderful that Young Living’s willing to do that for us.”This season’s planting events will continue through the end of May with the Whispering Springs farm in Mona, Utah, and the Simiane-la-Rotonde, France lavender farm. Young Living around the worldJAPAN Young Living Japan welcomed Ed Dailey to six cities throughout the country during April. More than 1,700 distributors and their guests attended, learning important roles of essential oils in integrative therapy. Ed’s practice of essential oils along with yoga was well received by Japanese attendees. Many distributors also took advantage during the tour to sponsor new members.

EUROPE During May Young Living Europe personnel will be taking to the road, visiting 17 cities across Europe in 29 days. The events will be great opportunities to connect with new and existing members and to learn about Young Living’s history, products and business opportunities. All those attending will be offered exciting promotions and given a complimentary gift.

SINGAPORE Following the Southeast Asia Regional Conference in late March, the Southeast Asia Tour rolled out with Evening Introduction meetings in Malaysia, Hong Kong and Taiwan. Will Halterman, Karen Cornejo, Dr. Cole Woolley and Tyler Williams led the tour, which was aimed at introducing the company and key products to the new markets. Each meeting was well attended and produced new members. The success of the conference and the tour proves the potential the region has and just how quickly Young Living can grow with the increasing number of passionate leaders.

MEXICO The Young Living Mexico sales team is determined to help fulfil Gary Young’s vision of seeing essential oils in every home in the world! Travelling by plane and bus, Brigham Iraheta and

Tomas Severo presented their first business and training meeting in the remote area of Pachuca, Hidalgo. It was such a great success that they are looking forward to returning to the area soon.

CANADA Gary Young hosted a life-changing event in Toronto, Canada, in April. With more than 400 attendees, Gary shared in-depth information about Young Living’s revolutionary Slique™ weight-management program. Gary was also asked to speak at the 35th Annual Total Health Show, where he shared the powerful story of essential oils.

AUSTRALIA The Aussie office is buzzing with excitement and is pleased to announce that Dr. Dan Purser is coming to Australia for the Emotions and You tour! Dr. Purser has an extensive resume that includes practices in family

medicine with an emphasis on women’s health and preventative care of the body. The tour commences May 7 in Perth and will work its way through the country.

PERU The grand opening of Peru is June 8–9. Hundreds of distributors, guests and local dignitaries will celebrate with us during this very special event. Peru is already growing quickly!
