DV ControlYou can control the record and pause ofequipment that conforms to the AV/Cprotocol connected to the XL1s using theDV terminal. For example, record to miniDVtape and an optional FireWire Controllerand Hard Drive system simultaneously.

Time CodeThis precisely identifies each recordingdown to the individual frame, showing thehour, minute, second and frame in thedisplay. The XL1s uses a "drop-frame"system that is frame accurate.

AV Insert and AudioDubbingAdd a new scene into your video fromanother source such as a camcorder orVCR. (Your video must be recorded in SPmode.) You can also add a new stereoaudio track onto your video such as avoice over or background music. (Youraudio must be recorded inthe 12 bit mode.)

Four Channel DigitalAudioThe XL1s records digital stereo sound.You can record 16 bit audio (2 channels,48KHz) or 12 bit audio (4 channels,32KHz). Audio level can be fully automaticor manually controlled and monitored byan illuminated VU meter. The XL1s alsoaccepts Line or Mic level audio sources toensure an accurate impedance match.

SLR-StyleFlash PhotographyAttach a Canon Speedlite E-TTL flash(420EX or 550EX) using the optional FA-200 Flash Adapter to use the XL1s forflash photography, just like you would withan SLR camera.
