Dear Brothers and Sisters in the Lord, Welcome!
Happy Feast of the Epiphany! It is a blessing to have you join the Sacred Heart worshiping community as we celebrate our Eucharistic Liturgy for Epiphany Sunday. I am grateful for your
presence and prayerful participation. May your faith be strengthened and your spirit lifted through the Word proclaimed and the Bread of Life we take and eat. Hope you New Year got off to a good start! In these beginning days of a new year, know I am grateful to you, the Parishioners of Sacred Heart, for your support over the past year. Through your time, talent and treasure shared with your Church community, you enrich our Parish. I am blessed to be your Pastor! Thanks! May we continue to grow in faith and love during this New Year, 2016. Today’s Feast of the Epiphany highlights the universal nature of Christ’s mission on Earth. Epiphany celebrates Christ’s manifestation to all the world. In our First Reading, Isaiah anticipates the revelation that Christ comes not just for the Israelites, but for all nations. The “light” Isaiah speaks of is Christ’s Presence. Isaiah tells us, “Nations shall walk by your light.” Jesus is the Light that guides our way in this world. Paul affirms the inclusiveness of Jesus’ Mission. “The Gentiles are coheirs, members of the same body, and copartners in the promise in Christ Jesus through the Gospel,” says Paul. That which was revealed to Paul was manifested to the Magi, as we hear in today’s Gospel. They travel a great distance seeking the child, the newborn King of the Jews. They seek to “do him homage.” They are “overjoyed” as they enter and see “the child with Mary, his mother.” One thing that helps me to be more inclusive, to be more welcoming is to avoid stereotypes. I try not to categorize people according to color, culture, religion, etc. I try to deal with the individual as I encounter him or her. I try to avoid preconceived ideas about someone from another
religion, another culture, with a different skin color. What helps you to be more welcoming, more inclusive? Peace be with you! God bless, Fr. McKee

THE WORK OF CHRISTMAS When the song of the angels is
stilled, when the star in the sky is gone, when the kings and princes
are home, when the shepherds are back with the flocks,
then the work of Christmas begins:
to find the lost, to heal those broken in spirit, to feed the hungry, to release the oppressed,
to rebuild the nations, to bring peace among all peoples, to make a little music with the heart….
And to radiate the Light of Christ, every day, in every way, in all that
we do and in all that we say.
Then the work of Christmas begins.
The message of the Feast of Epiphany announces to all people, everywhere:
Rise up in splendor…your light has come,
The Glory of the Lord shines upon you!
Let the work of
Christmas begin, and let it begin
with you."
