The Epiphany of Our Lord 3 January 3, 2021
The Epiphany
We often mark a person’s life by their most notable event or contribution to society. Only after do we pursue their personal history. The Three Wise Men coming from East are significant for their primary role: God has extended Eternal Salvation to the Gentiles, to all people! However, we know very little about their birth, education and life experiences. We surmise from their stature a number of insights. But at the heart of this experience we know that from a very young age they were searching, fully engaged. If you will, they are, in essence, Advent Preparation at its very best. They were willing, they were watchful and they were waiting. Each day as we go about our joyful duties in the Lord, we too are called to be willing to say yes, willing to act according to God’s plan; we too are called to be watchful, we pay attention to the signs of the times, responding with Gospel values, The Gospel of Life. Surely, we wait for the fullness of the glory of the Lord to arise in confident family life, challenge in the work force and that incredible joy of senior years when the final frames of the picture are coming together. We awaken to what is perceived by some as a childhood story to the brilliant plan of the Trinity: “We saw your star rising, the star of Bethlehem, and we have come to give you homage.” We wholly aspire to give Our Lord homage and offer him our gifts in songs of praise, silent devotion and that interior conversation with our dear Lord that truly satisfies. Finally, we publically proclaim in our Sunday worship to all the world: Jesus Christ is Lord!
May the Lord Bless You and Keep You. Amen. Father Mike Gerlach
Prayers, Thoughts and Best Wishes from our favorites at Saints Simon and Jude.
Let us begin 2021 with… “May the gift of prayer be a gentle part of our daily routine. May our young people know beyond any doubt of God’s love and complete acceptance of your life, now, at this moment. May we be sensitive to those in need. May the spirit of Jesus lead us out of darkness into His marvelous light. Thank you Lord for being with us in isolation and leading us slowly into renewed life.” Fr. Mike Gerlach “As we celebrate Jesus, the Light of the World, we are invited to leave behind the darkness, chaos, fear, loss of the past “unprecedented” year. While the New Year may appear to have the same trials as the past year, we are challenged to allow the true Light of the World to dispel the darkness in our minds, to confront the chaos in our perceptions, to alleviate the fear in our hearts, and to comfort the loss in our souls! In 2021, may we join in praying. May Christ the Light of the World, dispel the darkness, chaos, fear and loss in our lives and in our world. May He enlighten our minds, hearts and souls with His Truth and Love.” Amen! Fr. Philip Lowe “As we come to the beginning of a New Year, I am reminded of the words of St. Athanasius in describing this wonderful season of Christmas and what it means for our Faith Tradition. St. Athanasius refers to this Solemnity of the Nativity in which we celebrate the Word made Flesh as the “Admirable Commercium” the ‘Wondrous Exchange” where divinity and humanity became one in the person of the Christ Child, thus enabling all of us to become sisters and brothers with Him and children of the Father. I just pray that 2021 makes us ever more aware of this and how this impacts our lives of faith, hope, and charity. May we grow together as we struggle, with God’s help, to beat back the throes of our current plague, Covid 19. May we come together as the ecclesial family we profess each time we recite the Creed to carry the “good news” to all persons in the Spirit of Peace, Justice, and most of all LOVE, because Love changes everything. My best wishes to all for a graced, safe, and healthy 2021,” Fr. Francis Danielski

Thank you all for continuing to support Saints Simon and Jude Parish In this difficult time of “no contact” we have been blessed to have so many parishioners finding ways of continuing to support our Parish. One of the many ways of keeping everyone safe and continuing to support our Parish is using our electronic giving. This allows you to make donations either on an automatic scheduled basis, weekly or monthly, or one-time, without personal contact. You may make your donations either directly from your bank account or using a credit or debit card. Please visit our online giving page. From our Parish website home page go to “Ways to Give, then click Church E-give here”. Let us know if you have any questions on setting up your electronic giving by calling the Rectory office at 610-696-3624. Stay well, be blessed and as always, thank you for your support!
