CIRCULAR LEITER

AUTHORS I NOVEUSTS 1 SHORT-STORY WRITERS I

Dear Sir/Madam,

The WRITERS' & AUTHORS' P.P. Co., is an entirely new ORGANISATION, Jnd we are keen to enrol as members (no entrance fee) all AUTHORS, NOVELISTS :md SHORT ·STORY WRITERS.

We are now in press with the first edition of a book titled: "GUILTY OR NOT GUILTY" (by. N.X. CITIZEN). which will be released on or about the 15th

,\pril, 1934. We enclose ADVERTISING UTERATURE in regard to this particular boolc, and we feel sure you will be sufficiently interested to order a copy.

We also have the MSS. of THREE OTHER BOOKS, TITI..ED:(1) "POSSIBILITY OF IMMORTAL LIFE IN THE FLESH."

(By V. St. John Lubbock, B A.) (2) "VITAE, NON SCHOLAE, DISCIMUS."

("We learn for Ufe, not for School.") (By Artium Baccalaureus.) (3 "UNBIDDEN TO THE JUDGEMENT OF GOD."

(By Earle Young.)

These three books will be released during June, September and December, 1934, respectively. All the foregoing particulars more or less sum up our arrangements for 1934 in as far as the works of AUTHORS are concerned.

We are contemplating starting an "AFRICAN TRUE STORY" Magazine on the same lines as MACFADDEN'S MAGAZINES, and it is for this reason mainly that we are inviting all SHORT-STORY WRITERS to become members of • our " Leogue," and to submit their short stories to us, in order that we may dectde whether they are of sufficient interest for use in our MAGAZINE. We shall be pleased to receive any such articles (and verse) that you may have, and we shall then in due course give you our considered opinion as to the commercial value of same.

As stated above, there is no entrance lee, but we intend charging each member of the "WRITERS' & AUTHORS' LEAGUE" an annual subscription of 10/6 (ten shillings and sixpence) to cover costs ot:-

1. Typing of MSS. 2. To cover fees of employing critics for the perusal of all articles and

other Stories and MSS. submitted. 3. To make rejected MSS. saleable. 4. To obtain expert advice and assist writers (members) in their

literary efforts.

We will, in each instance, endeavour to make members' articles of some commercial value.

We trust the foregoing will be sufficient information for your guidance, but should there be any other particular information you require, we shall be only too pleased to furnish you with same.

Should you be in Johannesburg at any lime, we shall be pleased if you would call and interview us at our offices during the usual business hours.

Thanking you. Yours faithfully,

V. ST. J. LUBBOCK, Gen. Manager.
