In Endless Practice, Mark Nepo explores how the soul works in the world and how we stay vital and buoyant amid the storms of life. He affirms that not only is the soul’s journey inevitable, it is essential to our survival, and that “life, for all its difficulties, is uplifting.” No matter where we go we can’t escape this foundational truth: What’s in the way is the way. As Nepo writes, “The point of experience is not to escape life but to live it.”

Featured on Oprah’s Super Soul Sunday programs, Nepo’s Seven Thousand Ways to Listen has inspired people to redefine themselves in the face of life’s challenges. Comforting, moving, and spiritually practical, The Endless Practice is filled with universal insights and stories woven with guidance and experience, which will bring you closer to living life to the fullest.

This issue’s featured author, Mark Nepo has be-come an Oprah favorite. Originally scheduled (in the fall of 2013) to be in Albuquerque in

late summer, 2014, Nepo was asked to tour with her. He rescheduled his trip to the Land of Enchantment for the opportunity to spend several months with Oprah and I hear it was quite a whirlwind trip.

Mark Nepo’s latest book, Endless Practice is the featured title and the interview is based on that book. However, all of Mark Nepo’s books are lled with poetic wisdom…truly wonderful. (No wonder Oprah fell in love with his work!) We hope you enjoy the feature and that you will join us at the Albuquerque Center for Spiritual Living, Friday evening, December 12 ($30) and Saturday, December 13, all day (also $30). And don’t miss the VIP Reception Saturday evening. Add it to your plans and enjoy all three for just $100. Check out the author that’s got Oprah all abuzz!

Personally, it’s been probably the most challenging few months of my life. Compared to my hip injury in July, working with mold issues in my home and the toll it took on my health, the hip injury and recovery was like a vacation! If you are interested, read more on page 34.

is year, I’ve heard about a signi cant number of people who are going through deep, di cult, painful challenges in their lives. Tough stu . If this describes you, please be kind and compassionate with yourself. Whatever your current life challenges are, try to remember they are temporary. Even if temporary means ‘in the context of being in your current body in this lifetime’. Nothing lasts forever. Everything changes. Visualize with emotion what you want in your life as best you can. My understanding is that this is a very powerful time to manifest what we want — even when things look bleak. Also, in our very special community, we have many, many healing tools, methods and practitioners. Readers o en tell me that they use Truly Alive as a Resource for natural health and spiritual providers. Truly Alive is here to help. Whatever your current life challenges, may you have the most amazing holiday season ever — no matter what you are facing. And I hope to see you in December at one or more Nepo events at Albuquerque Center.

Many blessings,

Exercise for Your Best Brain Health By Pamela Costello, MD, PhD, Holistic Neurosurgeon, Neuroscientist, with Sean Plake, CPT

Exercise is a critical component of creating your best brain health. Modern day neurotoxins, including heavy metals and industrial pollutants, as well as a genetically

modi ed and adulterated food supply, radiation, and an increasingly contaminated water supply, are all factors which have brought our brains to a low point of neurologic health. When undertaking the process of identifying and treating your neurotoxic burden, physical movement through exercise is a key component. Your brain is under constant modi cation, both constructive and degenerative. is ‘plasticity’ provides us the opportunity to not only repair damage from lifelong neurotoxic burdens, but actually to improve our brain and neurologic function to a higher level, once the neurologic terrain has been detoxi ed and maximally supported.

Exercise in all forms stimulates the brain to work at improved capacity by promoting neurons to repair and strengthen their interconnections and provide protection from oxidative stress. Scienti c studies have illustrated that during exercise nerve cells release brain growth proteins known as neurotrophic factors, such as brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF). BDNF triggers numerous other chemicals that promote neural health, and has a direct bene t on cognitive function. Among elementary school students, 40 minutes of daily exercise increased their IQ by an average of nearly 4 points. Among 6th graders, the ttest students scored 30 percent higher than average students. At any age, exercise serves as a powerful tool to maximize our brain health and function. In more advanced age groups, exercise has been e ective with Alzheimer’s disease, as even mild to moderate exercise can reverse normal brain shrinkage by 2 percent, e ectively reversing age-related Hippocampal degeneration.

Whatever your current neurological health or physical functional level is, the healing of your brain and nervous system is best facilitated by an appropriate level of exercise. Exercise helps maintain healthy blood pressure and weight, improves circulation and lymphatic toxin drainage, strengthens the heart, increases the production of endorphins, improving energy and mood, and lowers stress and anxiety, all of which contribute to enhanced brain health and a heightened sense of wellness. Whichever exercise program you choose, commit to establishing exercise as a routine, as it is a medicine with a multitude of bene ts, including achieving your best brain health.

From Sean Plake, Certi ed Personal Trainer (the exercise expert who brought me back to my best physical and brain health!): What is keeping you from starting an exercise program for improved health? Some people are intimidated by weights and the thought of sweat, or are unsure of their ability to participate in an exercise program. You should never

feel intimidated by exercise, which is simply performing body movements at di erent rates. Television creates the illusion that exercise is only for ‘ t’ people, which could not be further from the truth. Exercise and movement are for EVERYONE! Exercise can be done at your local workout facility, outside at a park, in your home, and even in your o ce. When starting an exercise program with a quali ed, Certi ed Personal Trainer, and a er medical clearance from your physician, you should begin a program appropriate for your level of ability, and then slowly increase the intensity and volume as tolerated. You just need to start moving to see improvement of your overall mood, alertness, energy and general health!

There is a cool breeze, a waning of sunlight falling upon us, and a sense of inner re ection as we welcome in the season of winter. As we relax in our favorite cozy

chair and with a cup of co ee or tea, we can begin a re ection of how our year has unfolded. Most of us usually focus on what our ego mind desired and what it ‘got’ or ‘didn’t get’, but, if we allow ourselves to fall deeper into our knowingness, we can tap into that secret passageway that leads us to what our soul strove to manifest for us. We can look at the experiences of the year from a di erent perspective.

As we step on this path, we o en rst embrace judgments of ourselves. We judge ourselves based on our nancial success and how we utilized our funds. We judge ourselves for eating too much or for not exercising as much as intended; for not quitting that bad habit, etc. As we approach tax season yet again, I am o en asked the questions, “how do I preserve what I have acquired and how can I minimize my taxes”?

Some suggestions include managing the ow of income and payment of bills, utilizing a retirement plan, maximizing current or prior year(s) losses, informing them about the advantages and disadvantages of incorporating a business (as well as the di erent corporation options and their tax structures). ere are di erent tax rates and implications based on wages, dividends, gains or losses on stocks, and owning a home or business, or having rental properties.

I follow up with a question that I would like you to ponder. Were you passionate about listening to what your heart wanted, did you envision and imaging these dreams unfolding, and how successful were you?

Anxiety and HypermobilityBy Victoria L Magown

Nancy came to MyoRehab experiencing severe pain in her le lower abdomen. She also felt pain in other areas, but this was the one she wanted me to

treat that day. e pain had been present for three years and she had had “every test known to mankind”, all of which were negative for pathology. is meant that no one had gured out where the pain was coming from and Nancy had no idea either.

During these last three years, Nancy developed severe anxiety and depression from having to consistently deal with the pain all day. She sat in front of me on the edge of her seat, sighing with di culty breathing, which occurred up in her chest by taking deep breaths. Her face was tense and she talked in phrases, quickly, running out of air.

By her own admission, she was anxious all the time, hypervigilant and had gastrointestinal di culties with constipation. e only way she could get to sleep was by taking sleeping pills. And her home life was extremely stressful. She had been forced to retire early due to the unrelenting physical and emotional pain.

During a thorough review of her medical history, she explained that she had fractured her right wrist three years prior and had also had another severe fall about two years ago. Reviewing the events chronologically, we were able to determine that the severe le lower abdominal pain began shortly a er the rst fall and then continued to become worse a er the second fall. e signi cant factor involving both falls was that she had twisted to the right and landed in that position upon impact.

e Internal and External Obliques are the primary rotatores of the lumbar spine and pelvis. During Nancy’s twisted fall, the fascia over these muscles contracted and developed Fascia Points while the muscles developed Trigger Points (TrPs), particularly on the le . As you can see in the picture, TrPs in the lower le Obliques can cause pain speci cally in that area.

It all came together when I tested Nancy for Hypermobility

and she scored 7/9 on the Beighton Scale. is means she was born with (it’s hereditary) speci c ligaments, that attach from bone to bone crossing the joint, that are lax, a little too long. When a Hypermobile person like Nancy falls, joints can shi a little into a dysfunctional position, but not dislocate. When this happens, the brain sends a message to “splint and brace” so the joints do not move further into dysfunction. A er doing Orthopedic Tests, we were able to determine the le lower ribs were in a dysfunctional position along with Fascia Points and TrPs in the Obliques.

So how do the feelings of anxiety, hypervigilance and depression happen when you are Hypermobile? Our fascia, muscles and tendons send information to our brain via nociceptors, Golgi tendon organs and other sensory mechanisms. is is called proprioception. When the fascia, muscles and joints are in a dysfunctional state, it leads to reduced proprioception; that is, a reduced sense of knowing where they are in space. is can lead to anxiety, hypervigilance, sleep disruption, worrying about movement causing more pain and poor spatial awareness (clumsiness) which can lead to frequent falls. No wonder Nancy was not only in pain, but also anxious all the time.

A er releasing the Fascia Points and TrPs in the Obliques, as well as other muscles in the anteriolateral torso, the ribs were gently encouraged to return to a neutral position. During

treatment, Nancy’s breathing started to return to normal as she was able to use the abdominal muscles and diaphragm with more normal, pain-free movement.

A er treatment, the severe pain in the lower le abdomen was gone. Nancy was more relaxed and breathing normally. It was my pleasure to bring her

such relief a er three long years of su ering.

Grain Breasts By Dr. Carla Garcia, DOM

Deadly Carbohydrates – e Lethal Sugar/Carbohydrate Connection”, an article in the October 2014 issue of Life Extension magazine

explains how diets high in sugar and re ned starch raise breast cancer risks. e article states, “A new study shows what researchers have suspected for years – consuming carbohydrates dramatically increases the risk for a common type of breast cancer, a kind that is notoriously hard to treat.” It goes on to say that “In addition to increasing the risk of developing breast cancer in postmenopausal women, glycemic load and total carbohydrate consumption are also associated with the worst kinds of breast cancer.” Cancers that are more deadly and have fewer treatment options.

Why are simple carbohydrates so “bad” for us? Simple carbohydrates (sugar and re ned grains) raise insulin levels. Insulin not only regulates the amount of glucose in our blood; it is a growth factor that seems to “stimulate breast cancer cells to grow and reproduce”. Insulin is not misogynistic (prejudiced against women) it also raises the

Grain Brain; a book by Dr. Perlmut-ter published in 2013, describes how carbo-hydrates are destroying our brains. Perlmutter says that even healthy carbohydrates like whole grains can cause dementia, ADHD, anxiety, headaches, depres-sion and more.

Thermographic images above indicate that reducing carbohydrates and gluten intake also reduces the heat or inflammation in the breast tissue. AND remember that inflammation is a precursor to many diseases, in-cluding cancer.

Heat in the axilla is an indication for in ammation and/or lymph congestion. e le breast (more green than blue) is warmer than the right (an indication of mild in ammation). Eleven months a er being gluten free and reducing carbohydrates both breasts are blue (less in ammation) and there is less heat in the axillae.

Intravenous Nutritional Therapy for Memory and Neurologic Conditions? By Colleen von Kittel

An Interview with Dr. William Summers, who holds 8 patents, is the inventor of Memory reVITALIZER/Life IMAGINED, and o en

bridges the gap between traditional medicine and alternative medicine. Colleen: What are conditions that alternative medicine addresses with intravenous Nutritional Infusions (INT)?Dr. Summers: Literature and the internet abound for INT use for Parkinson’s disease, cancer, Alzheimer’s disease, Multiple sclerosis, and migraines. Additionally, INT addresses symptoms of fatigue, bromyalgia, muscle spasms, seasonal allergies, rhinitis, and sinusitis. CV: What is Brodie erapy? Dr. S: Dr. W. D. Brodie was an osteopathic physician in Incline, Nevada who pioneered INT in the 1970’s to treat hopeless cancer patients. He became world famous for his unexpected successes where there was little hope. Today we would say he helped “patients with cellular health issues”.CV: How did you get started doing Brodie erapies and Myer’s Cocktails? Dr. S: A woman from Paris heard of intravenous glutathione therapies and pressed me to apply it to her mother, a Parkinson’s patient near death, who lived here. Dr. Tom Naegele, a friend who is familiar with INT, actually worked in W. D. Brodie’s clinic. Tom assured me that such therapies can actually give dramatic results. More recently, a single amino acid INT (glutathione) has shown great promise in Parkinson’s patients. A er modifying the Brodie erapy, the woman received four infusions. CV: How did she do? Dr. S: is was four years ago, and the patient is still with us. It was dramatic and convinced me to become involved. Today, my modi ed Brodie INT and Myer’s Cocktail’s are used on several of my patients.CV: What conditions? Dr. S: We are using Brodie INT for severe memory di culties, movement disorders, neuromuscular weakness conditions, fatigue, peripheral vascular disease, and some say environmental toxicity and various gastrointestinal dysfunctions. ere is some help for tremors, but we are still working on this. CV: What about Myer’s Cocktail? Dr. S: Tradition says “Myer’s Cocktail has been found to be e ective against acute asthma attacks, migraines, fatigue (including chronic fatigue syndrome), bromyalgia, acute muscle spasm, upper respiratory tract infections, chronic sinusitis, seasonal allergic rhinitis, cardiovascular disease, and other disorders. “Myers’ Cocktail” consists of magnesium, B vitamins, and vitamin C.CV: Why not just take the vitamins by mouth?

Dr. S: Take Vitamin C for example. When the daily intake of vitamin C is increased 12-fold from 200mg to 2,500 mg/ day, the plasma concentration increases by only 25%. e highest serum vitamin C level orally is 9.3 mg/dL. In contrast, INT of 50gm of vitamin C gives a peak plasma level of 80mg/dL. is explains why the anti-cancer e ects observed by Linus Pauling, could not be ‘reproduced’ by the Mayo Clinic. Pauling used INT vitamin C, while the Mayo Clinic only used oral vitamin C. CV: Well let’s hope more people seek this amazing INT treatment. Next time, let’s talk about Life Imagined (www.alifeimagined.com), your new supplement.

Are They Listening??? By Melissa Parra, CFNP

I’ve received many patient testimonials, but one sent to me by Karen B., whom I have been treating for a year, touched my heart. Her most gripping comment was, “for the rst

time is a very long time, a healthcare professional actually listened!” is particular comment has been made to me by many patients over the years. So I asked myself...what makes a healthcare provider a “good listener”?

To actively listen is a gi of truly hearing what my patients are trying to convey, without judgment or coercing them into what I believe they must do. I give them my full attention without interruption while they express their concerns. Focusing on the main goals that my patients want to achieve, while taking into consideration what type of treatments they will or will not utilize is highly essential to achieve optimal health. In Karen’s case she wanted to get rid of her menopausal symptoms, sleep better, increase energy and put on muscle weight with better nutrition. Working together with Karen, advising her to take small, crucial steps over the past several months and supervising her progress have paid o ! At our last visit, she looked vibrant; had put on more weight and lean muscle, as my In Body scan analysis con rmed. is machine is highly accurate and helps to measure goals for weight, body fat, water intake and muscle. e supplements prescribed, Bio-identical Hormones and speci c dietary modi cation to t Karen’s goals brought results that were remarkable to say the least!

In the past, there were days when I worked in a stressful primary care clinic — routinely seeing 26 patients a day. I tried my best to listen, but the environment and time constraints placed on me were huge. To meet my expected patient quota, I was forced to spend a maximum of 15 minutes per patient. I felt some patients were short changed. Some may have le discouraged or confused about what their labs meant, what their diagnosis was, or even their plan of care. As a Nurse Practitioner, I was getting burned out and stressed. I’m sure my cortisol levels were o the charts.

Today, I have a wonderful practice where I am able to address the concerns of my patients and feedback is positive. As a medical practitioner, it’s very exciting to see dramatic changes in the health and vitality of my patients. e abbreviated testimonial from Karen B. encapsulates many of the comments I have received:

At the end of 2013, I felt like a shell of a person. I was tired all the time, sleeping poorly, no energy or motivation or interest in anything. My “battery” was so low I wasn’t sure it could be charged. en I made an appointment with Melissa. For the rst time in a very long time a healthcare provider actually listened! Melissa asked questions and listened to the answers. A er some bloodwork and a couple of appointments I started feeling better. Melissa worked with me to nd the right supplements and gave me advice on diet and exercise. Now, ten months later, I feel like a di erent person. I wake up feeling rested, I have energy to get through the day. I enjoy my life. Melissa gave me hope. It is refreshing to nd an o ce that is friendly, helpful and caring. ank you Melissa! Karen B., ABQ

In Harmony with the Season By Ellen Santistevan, LMT #6535, RMTI #I-0513, APP

Read more articles by Ellen Santistevan online: www.trulyalive.net

Achange of seasons is always a great time for a self-awareness check-in. It’s a nice time to evaluate how things have been going for you, what routines you

want to keep, and what routines you might need to release or change. As we approach the winter holidays, the time of darkness, I feel the need to slow down a er the busy time of the harvest and all the storage I’ve been doing - canning, drying, freezing, or otherwise preserving what I have grown so it lasts through until spring.

Living in harmony with the seasons applies even if you aren’t a gardener. Even if you have not been busy growing vegetables, you have been busy growing something in yourself. Maybe you aren’t hatching chickens, but you can hatch plans. You might not pick fruit, but you can enjoy the fruits of your labors. Spring and summer provide us with abundant energy for creation and growth, as well as plentiful light to see by. Now, with shorter days approaching, we can return to ground, embrace the end of this period of intense growth, let go of what is pruned back by the cold and the dark, which gives energy back to the roots. Our roots, our deepest selves, are nourished by this time of quiet and rest.

A er the busy-ness of all the DOING, now it is time to return to the BEING. In this moment, enjoy the sweetness of the autumn fruit as a divine gi that reminds us of the sweetness and joy of life. Look at the bright colors of the fall leaves, colors that are the same as our lower chakras, rooting us rmly in stability and foundation. Listen to the wild calls of the migrating birds, and consider where you need to go with your life. Smell the changes in the air, inhale deeply, feel how it can energize your body. Autumn is also the time of year when, all over the world, people observe the traditional celebrations to prepare for and welcome the spirits of our ancestors for a visit. e colors of the owers used here, yellow and orange, are like a ray of sunlight that our loved ones may follow to nd us. is is a time to visit, catch up, and express our gratitude for the impact of that person in our lives, no matter how short or long that presence lasted for us. en we allow those spirits to return to their place of rest with Spirit, which gives us the ability to move forward, and lets them go on with their spiritual journeys as well.

Now is the perfect moment to become very intimate with yourself, a time for self-re ection, reassessment, and long range planning. Look for all the beliefs that are holding you back and allow them to be set free. Do a dietary cleanse over a weekend, and release the junk that has accumulated in your liver and your joints. Clean your closets; let go of possessions

and thoughts that no longer serve or t you, even if they are heirlooms or family habits. Take care of yourself in ways that go deeper than the usual. Take real time to go on a retreat. Find something creative that you love to do, and nurture that part of your soul.

Remember that no one will do for you what you will not do for yourself. No one else can exercise for you, no one else can eat for you; no one else can paint the same painting, sing the same song, or write the same poem as you can. Nobody else ll an empty space inside of you. Only you can do the courageous work of loving and caring for yourself. Self-care empowers you to give back to the world.

While you are busy considering what gi s you will give to your family and friends at the holidays, why not think about making each one special, and not having to blow a month’s income on presents? I love to suggest gi s from the heart, such as a hand-written poem, a small painting, or the gi of spending real time together with the recipient. A spa visit, a massage, a nice haircut, or a consultation with a traditional healer may be something that the recipient wouldn’t do for themselves — but you can lead by example, and show them through your loving gi , that it is a good thing to take care of themselves as well. www.thirdgoddess.com

What Would Jesus Say About Our World Today? By Phaeryn Sheehan, Ascended Masters Foundation

During most holiday seasons, we earthly humans can be counted on to engage in many celebratory activities and gala events that

magically immerse us in the spirit of anksgiving and Christmas.

But this year, given that there is so much terrifying destruction happening in all areas of all life on our planet, the typical ‘feel good for awhile’ holiday diversions just can’t mask or conceal it all.

And to celebrate the 2500 year ago birth of a Christed Child named Jesus as we have done in our western world during this time, is just enormously ludicrous. How can we continue to celebrate the blessings of a Christ Child being born here while at the same time on earth we are caught up in manifesting just the opposite.”

Asking ourselves, however, ‘What Would Jesus Do

Would he chastise us for unwittingly placing our ego desires as a priority over Living His Teachings of Great Love?

Would he lec-ture us to reform and recover e Way He exempli- ed? Or would he say something such as: “Come, let us, you and I, rest in each other’s com-pany for it has been awhile since we lovingly gazed into each other with our hearts full of the deepest love we have always had and always shared with each other. I celebrate you reaching out to me and welcoming me to come near. May I re-mind you that the closer you come to me, the safer you are? And may I also encourage you to realize that right in the very midst of your deepest fears and feelings of hopelessness, I am your ever present loving help.

e time has come for each of you as my most cherished and adored human family to celebrate your Christed Self being reborn born along with Me. For no longer can the deeply ingrained ways of separation bring Mother Earth back to Herself. Only Christed Citizens will do.

M ARK NEPO moved and inspired readers and seekers all over the world with his number

one New York Times best-seller The Book of Awakening. Beloved as a poet, teacher and storyteller, Mark has been called “one of the finest spiritual guides of our time,” “a consummate storyteller” and “an eloquent spiritual teacher.” His work is widely accessible and used by many, and his books have been translated into more than 20 languages. Mark has published 15 books and recorded nine audio projects. Recent works includes The Endless Practice, Reduced to Joy (book and a box set of teaching conversations) and Seven Thousand Ways to Listen, which won the 2012 Books for a Better Life Award. Mark has been a featured guest on the Emmy-award winning series Super Soul Sunday on OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network, and is also featured in the recently released filmThe Power of the Heart. He devotes his writing and teaching to the journey of inner transformation. Mark offers readings, lectures and retreats around the country.

As a poet, philosopher, and cancer survivor, Mark Nepo has been uncovering a path of spiritual inquiry for more than forty years. In his new book, e Endless Practice, he illuminates the soul’s work in the world, the ongoing and timeless journey of awakening to the dynamic wholeness of life in all its messiness and unpredictability.

In 1987, Mark was diagnosed with a rare form of lymphoma. e heart of that journey and its a ermath has greatly informed his work. Ever since, he has been a student of all paths and his work has explored the common center and unity of all spiritual traditions, focusing on how we can experience that unity when we can lean into life and hold nothing back.

Mark’s journey with cancer began with a tumor growing in his skull bone. e crisis taught him the most profound life lessons, and the diagnosis of cancer changed the landscape of his life. Scheduled for spinal chemotherapy and whole head radiation, Mark insisted on one more MRI, because he could feel his tumor changing. e MRI showed that the tumor had vanished. It was a miracle. Ten months later, the same cancer was discovered in a rib in his back. Now the miracle was the thoracic surgery that removed that rib and its adjacent muscles. is was followed by aggressive chemotherapy.

Today, 26 years later, Mark is cancer free. His journey to healing has many elements that will inform and inspire others struggling with cancer or other life-threatening situations, as well as family and friends who are part of a healing team. e journey opened Mark to many methods of healing.

Since his recovery, Mark has shared his story as a way to introduce others to their own wisdom, believing that “those who su er have a wisdom the rest of us

need.” He has delivered many keynote speeches and has spoken at conferences and medical schools including the Na-tional Wellness Conference, New Jer-sey Medical School, Columbia Medical School’s Center for Narrative Medicine, Ohio Medical School, and Indiana Uni-versity Medical School. He continues to work with doctors, interns, nursing communities and cancer centers.

Truly Alive: How did you embark on the path of being a spiritual teacher? Mark Nepo: Before I even knew about poetry or spirit, the world spoke to me in metaphor. As a child, solitude was anything but quiet, but rather a place where the connections inherent in things showed themselves and I would listen, feeling their company. Of course, I had no language for any of this. It was in high school that I rst started writing poetry, when the rst woman I fell in love with dumped me. I had many acquaintances, but no real friends till college. So I began to talk to myself and this helped heal my broken heart. I found depth and resilience in this self-conversation, which wasn’t just self-referential. I had discovered through my pain how to open the self as a portal to everything larger than me. at conversation was very healing. And so, I had found a way to continue my conversation with the universe. But it was my journey through cancer in my thirties that brought me squarely into the life of the spirit. Ever since, I’ve been

devoted to continuing this conversation with the universe and with spirit and to keeping authentic company in any way that will help introduce people to their own gi s and wisdom.TA: What inspired the title of your book, e Endless Practice? What is the “endless practice” you speak of?MN: My new book e Endless Practice is an inquiry into how the soul works in the world, and how by engaging our soul in the world, we are shaped by the endless practice of becoming the person we were born to be. e endless practice of being human involves learning how to strengthen our heart by exercising it in the world, and how to re ne who we are through caring, building, holding and repairing. No one can do this for us, though no one can do it alone. e way cells need blood and blood needs tissue, we need each other to be fully alive.I have discovered my way as a poet and a philosopher and a cancer survivor. I would not be here, if not for a miracle; if not for a series of miracles. Every day when I wake, both death and life perch over my shoulders, and I get out of bed,

simply glad to be here. So, in needing to sur-vive, I’ve been forced to pare my life down to what is es-sential, and in doing that, I’ve been trans-formed. Along the way, my sense of writ-ing and living

has transformed as well. It is about these transformations that I want to speak.TA: What did your experience with cancer teach you — and why is it valuable to know?MN: A funny thing happened on the way to being a poet. At rst, I was excited to bear witness to the mysteries of life. But, feeling chro-nically insecure, I kept returning to an unspoken need to be recognized for my e orts, and

out of this, I grew an ambition to be great, the way a camel grows a hump. All of this twisted my journey to one of getting attention instead of giving attention, to seeking recognition instead of recognizing the life around me. I wanted to be veri ed for every poem I wrote, when the vitalities of life only reveal themselves to those who verify what is living. In my neediest moments, I wanted to be great instead of being true.

But all of this changed for two seemingly opposite experiences:

e rst experience was a vision for an epic poem that seized me when I was twenty-six and which took ten years to birth and create. is resulted in my second book, Fire Without Witness, a poem that explores the mythic and biblical voices that inhabit Michelangelo’s Sistine Ceiling. e whole enterprise was not about my life at all, but rather a symphony of voices that I turned myself over to, putting my heart and mind and all my sensibilities into all those characters. It was like pouring the water of my self into di erent shaped glasses. Yet, quite unexpectedly, doing so in-formed and guided my life. is brings me to the other seemingly opposite experience that transformed me: my experience with cancer. As a poet and artist, I was devoted to releasing and shaping my material, following the model of Michelangelo, carving and releasing the statue already waiting inside the stone. But mysteriously, as life happened, I became the gure waiting in the stone, waiting to be carved and released by the hard sculpting of experience. I found that my cancer experience began to write me. I was desperate to stay alive, and so I forgot about poems and manuscripts. I simply climbed a rope of expression, hand by hand, feeling by feeling, day by day. It was only a er surgeries and chemo and hair and no hair and months of repair that I found this rope of expression

scribbled in journals. A few years later, it formed my third book, Acre of Light.

And so, I learned rawly and through struggle that the center we all share is the same; and whether we nd our way there by going out of ourselves completely or by going into ourselves completely, either way, we must nd that vibrant center of truth that waits beneath all names.TA: How can nurturing our creativity and keeping our hearts open lead to deeper happiness and joy of life?

MN: e giving over of ourselves to the expressive journey yields the next phase of our inner curriculum. For each life is a language no one knows. With every heartbreak, discovery, and unexpected moment of joy, with every li of music that touches us where we didn’t think we could be touched, with every cut and confusion, another letter in our alphabet is decoded. Take a step, learn a word. Feel a feeling, decode a sign. Accept a truth, translate a piece of the mystery written in your heart.

Before we live what’s next, it o en seems as if there is some answer we need to arrive at. But daring to enter, we are humbled to discover, again and again, that the act of living itself unravels both the answer and the question. When we watch, we remain riddles to be solved. When we enter, we become songs to be sung.

By trying to create, we are created. By trying to express, we are expressed. By trying to discover meaning, we become meaningful. So the measure of great art can be understood, not so much by the singular beauty achieved in birthing a

Lawsuit Exposes FDA Denial of Dental Amalgam Mercury Filling By Bill Wolfe D.D.S.

Bill Wolfe D.D.S.

Several groups have led suit against the FDA in Washington, DC District Court seeking an order compelling the agency to respond to 2009 petitions calling for either a formal ban

on dental amalgam use or its placement in the Class 3 device category. Despite “growing evidence of harm caused by dental amalgam, the FDA continues to delay its decision to protect public health against the dangers of mercury tooth llings,” said one of the plainti s, the International Academy of Oral Medicine & Toxicology. Part of the impetus for the IAOMT’s legal action was the government’s neglect for the well-being of consumers, dental professionals, and the environment, as exhibited by FDA’s failure to take timely action against a dental material known to include a potent neurotoxin. Fi y-six months have passed without an FDA response to the petitions, the suit complains, adding that the agency’s own regulations require a response within 180 days.

Attorney James M. Love, who led the lawsuit, said American consumers and dental professionals are being misled by the American Dental Association (ADA). “ e ADA has misrepresented FDA’s lack of regulation as proof of safety, and continues to use this toxic dental lling, despite scienti cally demonstrated risks,” Love said. “Most individuals remain unaware that those ‘silver’ llings, prevalently used as a dental restoration and covered by insurance policies, consist of 45-55% metallic mercury, and that there are health and environmental risks associated with those llings. e IAOMT’s claim also establishes that the FDA and the American Dental Association (ADA) have disregarded scienti c data about the dangers of using this poisonous substance as a dental restorative material.

A previous 2007 lawsuit, Moms Against Mercury v. Eschenbach, alleged that more than thirty years ago the agency was legally obligated to classify dental amalgam, but it did not do so. at suit resulted in FDA agreeing to classify dental amalgam.

However, FDA classi ed the device in Class 2, assigning no controls or other measures intended to protect the public. e lawsuit led by IAOMT calls for either a formal ban of amalgam use or placement in FDA’s class 3. Such a classi cation would require additional restrictions for vulnerable individuals, more stringent proof of safety, and an environmental impact statement.

e IAOMT lawsuit holds the FDA accountable for long overdue action to classify dental amalgam accurately, to protect American citizens, dental professionals, and the environment, as other nations have already done. e scienti c evidence of harm from this toxic dental material is clear beyond a reasonable doubt.

Plainti s in the current lawsuit also include Moms Against Mercury, DAMS, Inc., CoMeD, Inc., and several individuals who were adversely a ected by mercury in their amalgam llings.

The Incredible Power of Lymphatic Drainage By Maggie Mathisen

Read more articles by Maggie Mathisen online: www.trulyalive.net

Iwould like to share with you the beauty and wonder of how I experience what happens in my lymphatic sessions. Physical toxins are neutralized and removed from the

body but emotional toxicity is also transformed. Emotional heaviness can heal and transform.

Our lymph system circulates uid or “water.” ere are three properties of water.

(1) e rst property of water is the ability to ow. Lack of enough ow or amplitude of ow causes us to get sick because our housekeeping system (the lymph system) cannot neutralize the toxins we encounter fast enough to prevent symptoms. Our bodies typically process 2 to 3 liters of lymph uid per day. A er a treatment, the lymph system will process 8 to 10 liters per day, so our lymph is supercharged to heal and neutralize toxins. e lymph “water” in our bodies begins to circulate at an amplitude which is therapeutic. is is what makes these sessions bene cial for healing what ails us.

(2) Our emotions are carried through the water systems

of our bodies. Lymph “water” is one of these systems. e lymph system can cleanse and heal emotional baggage or heaviness, but in some cases gets bogged down and the result is that the lymph cannot then cleanse much of anything. is healing happens through the next property.

(3) e third property of water is its ability to carry an electrical charge. is is the most exciting. Here is what happens during a lymphatic drainage session: as the tissue is cleansed in one spot, the lymph channel right there begins to carry an electrical charge or energy which I “see” as light. As I work into the next area to be cleansed, the emotional heaviness actually gets pulled by the light, into the light, and is healed. When an area accepts the light, I know it is time to move to the next area. At the end of a session, the area where I have worked is glowing with light. It looks like the channels are alive and pulsing. ese three properties of water along with the rhythm of the lymphatic system all work together to enhance the healing.

Lymphatic rhythm is a fantastic healing tool. I always follow the lead of the rhythm. e rhythm can stop for two reasons. e rst is because the particular area where I am working is in need of a clearing which demands more than just lymph work to heal. is is when I switch to either CranioSacral work or my own healing work. I hold the area until it is clear and the lymph rhythm resumes.

e second reason is because the person’s consciousness is going cosmic. What this means to me is that the consciousness of the person feels like it is expanding beyond the farthest stars into in nity, into the silence and stillness where all healing occurs. When this sublime experience happens, I simply wait in stillness for the rhythm to resume. When it does, I continue the session.

e session becomes a wonderful interplay of di erent healing techniques to facilitate the best possible outcome for each client. It is a beautiful, gentle and miraculous experience which integrates cosmic consciousness into the physical realm. is is healing across dimensions.

If you would like to experience the beauty of these sessions call 505-898-7853 for an appointment. ank you.

Time for a Resurrection By Bill Haggard, All About Health

For so many of us, “resurrection” means Easter or Lazarus or Jesus. Or perhaps you’ve heard stories about someone pronounced dead then, all of a sudden, miraculously

coming back to life. I’m talking about another kind of resurrection here; something that has been dead for some time that desperately needs to come back to life.

What is missing or seems to have died is: common sense! We have become so “smart” in this technologically advanced 21st century that when we have issues with our precious bodies, we are using drugs, chemicals and man-made substances that do more harm than good. And we ignore the wisdom of our ancestors: those who knew how to survive using remedies from plants, herbs, owers, roots, oils, poultices, concoctions, etc.

ese remedies did not cost an arm or a leg, but were e ective: the hot water bottle, for instance. It is a multi-purpose device to warm you when chilled or cleanse you internally by administering an enema or a douche. In the old days the saying was, “cleanliness is next to godliness”. It meant external and internal.

Here’s a thought and a question: Most health problems are due to uncleanness, inside more than outside. Most of us bathe and shower. If we are becoming sick due to internal uncleanness, why aren’t we doing enemas on a regular basis or, better still, having colonics? e enema was commonly used by our ancestors to remedy health problems, before doctors and drug stores became so plentiful.

Most of us become sick due to accumulated toxicity. Enemas and colonics remove toxins from the body, and the body recovers. Pharmaceuticals can add to the toxicity of the body. is does not compute for reclaiming the health of our bodies. e truth is, there are simple, more e ective solutions to regaining health.

So, resurrect the dinosaur that has almost become extinct: get cleansed on the inside as well as the outside. Eat healthy, drink healthy, think healthy, act healthy, be healthy!

If you haven’t experienced a colonic—colon hydrotherapy —what are you waiting for? Your health and livelihood depend on it. Reclaim your health. GET RESURRECTED! If you are like most of my clients, you are going to feel like a new person. It’s why most of them cleanse on a regular basis. Once you have experienced a few colonics, you may feel so well that you include them in your life going forward.

And just in case you didn’t know…Colonics are an anti-aging therapy. It requires a lot of energy to manage all the clutter accumulated in our bodies over time. Colonics remove the clutter, little by little. One colonic is equal to 30-40 bowel movements. at is a lot of waste removal! is frees up energy

B i l l H a g g a r d o w n s A l l A b o u t H e a l t h w h e r e c o l o n hydrotherapy is a specialty. With more than 22 years of experience in colon hygiene and natural therapeutics, colon health and natural health education is a passion for Bill; a passion shared by his team of caring and dedicated colon hydrotherapists. Get educated. Get started and get your life and vitality back. You don’t have to be sick, tired or in pain. Schedule your next cleansing today! Start your house-cleaning today and reclaim your health! It’s not always easy…but you’ll be glad you did. Call 505-888-5858, www.allabouthealthinc.com

to do more than just waste management; such as cellular repair, clear-thinking abilities, vitality, better sleep, and healthy skin and nails and more.

Help your body eliminate the toxins. Invest in an enema bag, enema bucket, or see a Colon erapist and get rid of what is making you ill. Every cleanse is greatly enhanced with colonics and enemas.

Love, Bill

Co-ops o en hide in plain sight. ey are all around us — all over the world. ey take the form of electric companies, agricultural businesses, sporting goods

stores, media outlets, banks, breweries, bookstores, bike shops, and, of course, grocery stores. To the consumer, co-ops function like any other business. e fundamental di erence between co-ops and privately or publicly owned corporations is where the money goes, and who sets the business priorities.

A co-op is owned and governed by its members. ese individuals or groups of businesses all have an equal stake in governing the organization, and they share in the pro ts. ey are owned by and operated for the bene t of those using the co-ops services.

Because they wear their co-op model on their sleeve, natural foods co-ops like La Montanita o en get their business model misinterpreted by the media. For example, I o en hear people say the co-op is a nonpro t, or the co-op is a member club. Our business is neither of these — it is a cooperative.

Historically, the co-op model has had more and less economic signi cance. e o cial designation the US government and the IRS recognize (www.sba.gov/content/cooperative) has its roots in the Rochdale Society of Equitable Pioneers who formed a cooperative in Rochdale, England in 1844 to address the needs of textile workers not being paid adequately to a ord basic staples. e founders articulated a set of guiding principles that most modern co-ops worldwide acknowledge as a baseline for their operations.

In modern times, especially when economies are increasingly unequitable between the haves and have-nots, the cooperative model has grown in strength. What the cooperative model represents for many businesses is not just a distribution of wealth, but also a shi in focus from pro ts to a more mission-driven business. For example: this September, e Centre for Human Ecology, a Glasgow-based academic institution will decide whether or not to restructure as a cooperative. According to an article by Dave Matthews published in the Times Higher Education, reorganizing as a co-op represents a solution to nancial woes, as well as greater democracy. At a time when academic institutions struggle to remain nancially viable and students and researchers are increasingly asked to shoulder the nancial burden, would restructuring as a co-op represent a solution through collective ownership and democratic governance?

e cooperative model also represents a method for starting a business without one person needing to have signi cant start-up capital. is September a cash-poor, but social capital-rich group opened the doors of one of very few cooperative breweries in Minneapolis. Fair State Brewery engaged over 350 members at $200 each for lifetime membership. e brewery leveraged the capital to open its doors, and founding members Evan Sallee, Niko Tonks and Matthew Hauck happily pour pints with the motto, “Drink like you own the place.”

Co-ops Are Everywhere By Sarah Wentzel Fisher

Education plays an important role in making the cooperative model viable. Without a clear understanding and direct experience with how a co-op works, considering it as a viable business model as an enterprising adult may seem challenging. Much of the work around cooperative youth leadership development in the US happens through the support and initiative of rural electric co-ops. is year, the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association will celebrate y years of its Youth Leadership Council. Regional rural electric co-ops choose young leaders to learn the co-op model, attend summer leadership camps, and visit DC to engage elected o cials in dialogue about economics, politics, and service.

Cooperatives are growing, but co-ops only work and thrive when the membership actively participates in the business. Participation takes many di erent forms. At our co-op, members primarily participate by shopping, but members can also volunteer, vote in elections, and run for the board. Every level of participation is valuable and important to the health of the business. Next time you shop at the co-op, consider what your purchases mean to the business. What does the business mean to the community? en, consider sharing these thoughts with a friend.

In a world full of GMO foods, where do you think your IV supplies come from?

Injectable solutions of Vitamins, Minerals and Antioxidants are made by Pharmaceutical companies. As we all know, Pharmaceutical companies are about pro ts, not people. You

may just assume that the supplies your healthcare provider uses are the “highest” quality possible, right? Well, they may not as high quality as you may think. If you’re like me, you want to know that what you are paying your practitioner to put into your body is the BEST possible form of IV solution.

Most all injectable Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C) is made from Corn, which most people have allergic reactions to. If your Doctor or Practitioner requests Non-Corn source Ascorbic Acid for your IV, the price may be a little higher but the quality will be better, right?

Non-Corn source Vitamin C is made from Beets, which almost all beets grown are GMO. e absolute best form of Ascorbic Acid to use is Non-GMO beet source but it’s not easily found. You may think that this would make it much more expensive and to a degree, you’re right. However, we don’t increase our prices just because we use the BEST quality IV supplies.

Sacred Space By Inga Madsen, Crystal Dove

Read more articles by Inga Madsen online: www.trulyalive.net

Now is the time that many of us look back on everything that happened to us during the year. If we experienced di cult situations, we may feel that we are being

punished. It may even seem like there is no order in our lives; just chaotic events that seem to happen one right a er the other.

When we experience di cult events it is never a punishment. We go through hard times as a way to grow beyond what we thought was possible. When we do this, we discover who we truly are. We reach another level of healing that allows us to move forward if we choose.

For those who are in an unpleasant environment or who are still struggling with life situations, I recommend using sacred geometry. Items such as crystal pyramids, Star of David or Flower of Life symbols and jewelry are powerful tools. Hanging or displaying sacred geometry designs in a room stabilizes the energy, creating order out of chaos. is creates sacred space which can help you surround yourself in peaceful and positive

vibrations. Diana: Please use jewelry case image near this text.

Another way that we can choose to move forward, even in di cult situations, is to nd gratitude. During the holiday months, the subtle energy of gratitude is all around us. When we focus on the negative emotions we are having or when we constantly worry, we are putting energy into creating more of what we don’t want. When we make an e ort to show appreciation for ourselves and for the people in our lives, we bring in healing vibrations. is helps amplify the sacred space within us.

We don’t have to do big extravagant things to express gratitude. Something as simple as a ‘thank you’ or a small note can be all someone needs to feel inspired. When you are thinking of what you are thankful for, you attract to yourself more people and situations to be thankful about. Sometimes people around us don’t show appreciation for the things we do for them. is is when we must give extra appreciation and extra love to ourselves. We may feel very hurt when we think we are not valued but we can’t take it personally. Some people will never show appreciation the way that we would like because they can’t. ey are doing the best that they know how to do.

It is also important to nd a good support system. Most of us need people to talk to or help and guidance from a mentor or teacher along the way. at is the purpose of Crystal Dove, to provide that sacred space for healing and support. We can assist you along your path in many ways.

At Crystal Dove, we have sacred geometry pieces and many other tokens of love that you can purchase for yourself or for the special people in your life. is includes literature, music CDs, candles, stones, crystals, jewelry, Bach ower essences, and cards for inspiration and healing. We also have in-store readers every day for those who seek spiritual guidance. Every month there are meditation classes and a variety of other workshops with esoteric insights on healing and spiritual growth (join our mailing list to see all of our activities: http://bit.ly/18wpGvU).

Additional support is available with individual appointments for soul alignment or heart healing. Soul alignment sessions help people connect to their guidance and their own soul’s message. Heart healings help release emotional buildup and balance their energy. Just standing in Crystal Dove is also very healing. Many people are guided to the speci c token or class that they need when they visit.

I am very thankful to all of you who continue to support Crystal Dove year a er year and look forward to sharing sacred space with you.

Kindly, Inga

Love is Living Life on the Balcony By Wendy Foxworth

In the mid-1990’s, I was on a stage of big time human drama. In my public work as a minister of a large church and at home with my life

partner—the experience of relational dis-harmony was prevalent. I was dumbfounded at how I could be so involved in believing in and teaching about truth, beauty, justice, goodness, love, and peace and at the same time be experiencing repeated bouts of relational upset with people in my life.

en my spiritual director suggested that I get o the stage of my life and get up on the balcony. He dared me to leave the “tit for tat”, “he-said, she-said” day to day drama world and take a look at a bigger picture.Metaphorically, I was asked to take three steps back and three steps up and look down on this thing I knew as my life with other people.

As a result of getting on the balcony, I entered a cohort program in the School of Management at John F. Kennedy University whose focus was on co-creating learning communities in business and civic institutions. I was introduced to the eld of study named organizational development and my life has never been the same.

On the balcony, I learned about systems theory, de-velopmental/evolutionary psychology, Spiral Dynam-ics®, consciousness, and all things integral. My mind was opened to see that we human beings were systemically

acting out a pattern of interaction that I now call the Me-Way. is pattern insures that you and I can only plan on experiencing more war, divorce, disease, unem-ployment, abuse, hunger, poverty, climate change and inequality.

anks to Peter Senge and his reinforcing loop theory, I learned that day to day

relationships can change dramatically for the better if “We” consciously change the pattern of how we relate toward one another!

e good news from the balcony is that we have the capacity to co-create new patterns of interaction via shared agreements that will co-create peace, health, ease, long-term employment, the ful llment of individual/collective potential, enriching passionate relationships and a healthy relationship with mother earth.

We’ve been at this work on the balcony as the Center for Consciousness Education for six years and we invite you to journey with us as we move now to a global online platform. To get a start on making the shi to the WeWay, get a copy of the book, Co-Creating Good, Healthy Relationships: Living Life the WeWay to see what is possible.

Love is possible on the balcony of any relationship be it a couple, a family, a work team, a spiritual community, or an entire corporation. I’m here to help you and those you care about get educated and make the shift to WeWay relating. Call me at 505-514-2024 or go to www.theweway.com, or www.centerforconsciousnesseducation.com for more in-formation about how to get on the balcony and stay there!

My Big Mold Adventure By Karen Larré

If I had only known that the hip injury would be just the beginning of my big adventures, I don’t think I would have sailed through it as

well as I did and with as positive an attitude as I had. About eight weeks a er I fell and injured my hip and was essentially recovered, I found myself very sick and learned I had mold in my master bathroom ceiling. Conditions had been perfect for the mold to surge. It had been the wettest summer in many years; it was cooler, so I was using the swamp cooler instead of the A/C. And, I was soaking in my tub to help rehab my hip. Perfect storm.

My handyman came and tore out the bathroom ceiling and I moved into a spare bedroom. I thought the repair and some cleaning would take care of things and I was careful to clean everything that went into the spare bedroom. Little did I know there would be ever so much more…

My intuition compelled me to move everything I owned into the garage and hire a mold remediation company. During the moving process, two more areas of mold were found which would not have been revealed had everything not been moved out. One was under a oor standing shelf in my master closet and the other was under the kitchen sink.

Mold remediation companies order tests from an independent mold testing company and then clean to the test. ey HEPA vacuum walls, ceilings, exterior cabinets and closets in the a ected areas, but typically do not clean the whole house, or insides of cabinets, etc. ey do not ask you to move furniture and if there is furniture present, they do not clean inside of drawers. is type of mold remediation is satisfactory for most people, but as I learned, about 25% of people

a ected by mold are deeply a ected and the cleaning e orts must go much deeper.

In my case, the mold had been in my bathroom ceiling since before I bought the house. I have a new roof and my handyman said it appeared as though there had been a roof leak and the prior owner (who bought the house to ip it) replaced the roof, remod-eled and made the house look pretty, but did not take

care of some areas which could become active mold sites in the future (espe-cially that ceiling). e house passed inspection and it certainly did appear new and beautiful.

Everything I own has had to be hand cleaned (sometimes several times) before coming back into

the house and at the time of this writing, about 70% of my home is back to normal. I was so very sick through all this, continually triggered by handling my belongings, trying to work on my computer equipment, communicate with a myriad of di erent vendors working to remediate the situation, etc. In fact, I was severely a ected by the mold with physical, cognitive, and emotional symptoms including severe fatigue, nausea, wheezing and severe upper respiratory distress. From the NIH website, “In 2004 the Institute of Medicine (IOM) found there was su cient evidence to link indoor exposure to mold with upper respiratory tract symptoms, cough, and wheeze in otherwise healthy people; with asthma symptoms in people with asthma; and with hypersensitivity pneumonitis in individuals susceptible to that immune-mediated condition.” http://www.cdc.gov/mold/faqs.htm#a ect

at pretty much describes me. e worst of it

was the psychological/emotional symptoms. ose closest to me were very worried and described me as “over the edge”; that my behaviors were “crazy” and that they were severely a ected by my “craziness”. In preparing this article, I found some sites that describe the emotional/personality e ects of mold exposure in highly sensitive people. It was very validating and comforting to know I wasn’t “crazy” (I certainly don’t feel crazy now, although I am not totally myself at 60%). If you are interested, check out these sites. Who knows how many of us are feeling unwell with some or all of these symptoms and not getting better because we are not thinking of a connection to mold: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/15259424, http://www.amenclinics.com/blog/toxic-mold-syndrome-it-was-like-i-lost-my-personality/, http://moldblogger.com/impact-of-mold-on-thoughts-emotion-personality/. I found a lot more just on page one of a search, but you get the idea.

During the mold remediation, I rst stayed with a friend and for about the rst week, I was OK. e nausea was substantially decreased, my energy was better, brain function, etc. Although every night I would come to my friend’s a er moving things around in my house/garage and being at the house with the mold companies and other service providers. My dog stayed at the house with a housemate who was una ected until the 8th day, when he moved out (unrelated — got a job in Denver). Even though my dog was bathed three times in an anti-fungal shampoo mix, she triggered severe nausea in me and I had to leave my friend’s home. Fortunately, my dog is sweet, gentle and got along with her dog, so she stayed with my friend.

I went to a hotel during Balloon Fiesta (Wow on the cost!) and again, I was ne for about 4 days. e hotel had a refrigerator so I took some food I had from my freezer at home to the hotel and with just a few bites, severe nausea returned. I realized that even my food had been contaminated with mold spores (again, nothing that was making anyone else around me sick — just me). I threw out all food in containers in my freezer and refrigerator (that had been open to the air in my kitchen) and tossed everything in all my cabinets that had been opened including spices.

e chemical used to take care of the mold (hospital grade) was so toxic to me, it made me sick too. A Truly Alive provider came over and had to leave a er 1.5 hours when scheduled for 4 hours. at was a er the room had outgassed for 4 days! A friend came over

with the intent to help and couldn’t stay because the chemical was so strong.

A er not feeling well even at the hotel, I thought, “Well, if I am going to be sick, at least I can be sick in my own home.” at night, I slept outside on a roll-a-way bed. e mold guys were very kind and set up my computer outside under the patio umbrella so I could get some work done. ey also very compassionately moved everything inside the next day when it was going to rain. By that time, I could tolerate the chemical odor and slept inside for the rst time since leaving more than two weeks prior.

At the time of this writing, my home is coming back together. Most of the furniture is inside; having been cleaned and re-cleaned (sometimes three times). Every single thing in my home is continuing to have to be cleaned before it comes back inside; from the largest to the smallest item. In all fairness, I was sensitive to dust before this happened. Always had to wash my hands and nose a er touching something dusty or petting my dog. My health history includes two years of being unable to work while recovering from severe candidiasis and I’ve controlled that issue with diet and supplements over the past 20 years.

I wish I could say that I used the techniques we all know about (visualization/emotionalizing what we want) during this process. I was in such a high state of fear about my home, my health and the fate of the magazine as a result of the other two, that I was a basket case. People around me were truly concerned for my emotional health (even more than my physical health since I was still walking around — unlike twenty years ago when I couldn’t get out of bed).

It is another great opportunity to heal and I see multiple issues this touched on. Got a lot to work on from here. Sure hope I don’t create any more big (painful) adventures again anytime soon. Would really appreciate some fun instead!

ARIES (3/21-4/19) NOVEMBER: ere is an attraction to certain shiny things, but you are not a crow. So, that draw may need clever scheduling to t into your career e orts. e sexual energy of

this Scorpio time of year is tapping. Pleasure seeks you out, but there is a responsibility factor. November starts with a party atmosphere on the 1st. e nal two weeks are the reward for the rst two weeks. e 26th shines. DECEMBER: is is a month to pursue your dreams, cultivate friendships (try to be likeable), and rake in some pro ts from your work e orts. You can be the wild one in the snow this Christmas. ere seems to be a re under your butt starting the 20th. Everything this month has a stimulus for you. e 1st has you ready to build great things. e full Moon of the 6th has you ying around like a cruise missile seeking your target. You complete a triad on the 21st as business plans go perfectly. Winter is work-active for most of the Rams.

TAURUS (4/20-5/20) NOVEMBER is about rela-tionships. You seem to wait longer than other Signs to be sure. 1st is a great day to reach an agreement with your partner. Just as the earth stands up to

weather changes, your earthy beauty shines through during the drama of nature. e 6th is good to use your vexing powers under the full Moon. Be moderate on the 9th. e 12th is serious, but physically pleasurable. e 16th brings a change as you lead the way into a hopeful, positive place. e 20th has a bliss which makes it hard to get out of bed. e 26th is exciting. DECEMBER is an earth-shaking time for everyone, but especially for the Sign which rules the earth. So, the Bulls will precede any earth changes with changes of their own. Mid-month is the peak of any calamity, though much of the chaos goes on within our own minds. Try to enjoy the happy days this month like an oasis in the desert. e 6th is fortunate. e 10th brings a change of direction like a shi ing gears for the Christmas season. e 14th is romantic. Keep a low pro le on the 20th. Shocking revelations require steady balance. Venus works to improve health.

GEMINI (5/21-6/21) NOVEMBER has you moving at the speed of thought. e 1st is a good day to rea rm the joy you feel with life. All the better, if you have love in your life to amplify that joyfulness.

e 3rd has serious talks which may be too deep for your taste. e 6th has a full Moon which stirs the earthy core of your nature. A psychic experience is likely, that day. e 8th is a change which taxes your light and airy outer nature. Your adaptability makes it possible to quickly deal with heavy or intense issues at work. e best time to nd a partner is a er the 27th. DECEMBER will get you in the spirit for this higher-

minded season of sharing and loving. It’s good to come out of our caves, spend money and be social. Don’t allow glumness to discourage your acknowledgement of human warmth. Self-entertain by intellectually nding logic to emotions. A well organized mind will get you smoothly through the season. Plans are perfect. Friends will celebrate with you online if they are far away. e 14th is highly interesting as people rise up against tyranny. Partners seem solid, but permanence is sought. Passions are stirred.

CANCER (6/22-7/22) NOVEMBER: Social settings bring aggressive people to your sphere of in uence. Just scoot away (as Crabs do) to a better space. So, dramatic changes bring cures to your mind and

emotional state. e 6th is a shiny hope for the future as some of your dreams can be realized. e 10th is intense. Buckle up. For many Moon Children there is a serious matter of romantic commitment. DECEMBER has its excitement even in the frozen winter. ings are just very active, it seems. It helps to get the warm weather Crabs through the cold of winter. e full Moon of the 6th illuminates a need to clear away brush that causes subconscious congestion. Some things need ending. Watch excessive spending this winter. Also a bad four months for nancial investments. Good winter to lose that tiny bit of weight. e new Moon on the 21st manages to tie work or health matters into partnerships or social events.

LEO (7/23-8/22) NOVEMBER is kinda’ irksome. Starts o serious and sullen usually, but this month can be like new, sparkling things to stimulate your senses. e Scorpio season is always a time to be

careful with food. You’re in the clear by anksgiving. e full Moon of the 8th is best spent at home, but you can have people over. Mostly, this month is half serious and half light-hearted a er the 15th. A friend keeps things ticking along. Turkey Day is verbally lling. You will like the 26th best of all. e New Moon on the 22nd promises a month of nancial gain. Fun starts also on the 22nd. DECEMBER is usually a fun and romantic time of year for the Lions. It must be the social closeness of a winter den along with the child-like playfulness of the season and the games and surprises and festivities. What’s not for a Leo to like? Friends come to your side on the 6th. Crowd control could be a problem for you. You will need time alone too. e nal 10 days allow you to nd comfort in tradition and love. Love lends a shoulder.

VIRGO (8/23-9/22) NOVEMBER starts with a good mood as you awake on the 1st. You can thank a friend for that. Your mind has been building to a very high level by the full Moon on the 6th. Your

security is emphasized and you see un nished details by the

Moon’s enlightenment. e 8th begins a 20 day cycle of writing, texting, phoning, driving. e 11th brings a deep experience to your awareness. Your partner has a return to normalcy a er the 15th. e 18th has you in a serious frame of mind. Home repairs go well on the 21st. Confusion is resolved. DECEMBER promises great intimacy during the 2nd half of the month if you speak openly and truthfully with your partner the rst two weeks. No word games; just frankness with each other. Secrets are hard to conceal. Endings are possible this month, and they make room for new beginnings. Just go with what feels good rather than analyzing it to death. e 20th has inspiration for changes you can make on the 24th.

LIBRA (9/23-10/22) NOVEMBER is not the light and breezy time which you prefer. Even a party on the 1st could have a far more serious element than you intended. e full Moon on the 6th brings

spirituality to your attention. You can work with your nances and self-image successfully the rst two weeks. Final two weeks can be spent running errands and enjoying friends. e 20th is hard to wake up. e 26th is elevating as love carries you right through T-day and a er. DECEMBER has you running around shopping the rst 10 days. e rest of the month brings out your domestic side as you decorate. Your romantic sector is on re. Half of all Librans will feel this energy as a creative gust of wind (gusto). A touch of sadness comes from a friend who will be missing from the holidays. e new Moon on the 21st has you bound to your home, but chances are, you are not under house arrest. By getting out and about the nal 10 days, you could meet someone exciting and fun when you least expect it. Libra is about love.

SCORPIO (10/23-11/21) NOVEMBER marks the end of a cycle of life. Scorpio is about endings and you can accept that, but you know that roots are growing and seeds are waiting for spring. Even death is just

a transformation. I don’t mean that you will die, just a part of your life will be boxed up and put on a shelf somewhere. 11/22 shi s your attention to nances. Practice good health habits ‘til year’s end to boost your immune system. If you have a career, it will blossom. Keep tearing down walls. DECEMBER says to make your plans to replace those walls with something logical. You start the month by laying the “cornerstone” for your future. On the physical plane, there is work to do at home this month. e 20th and 21st are eye-opening days with excitement. Your mind becomes more serious despite your surroundings. ere seems to be a sigh of contentment which comes from nding an ideal that ts your need for permanence. is feeling is strong on the 26th. A deep nervousness is being assuaged.

SAGITTARIUS (11/22-12/21) NOVEMBER is a time to take walks in the forests, or easier, to stay home in the backyard despite the cold. Freedom and learning ll your mind with meaning. You have such

a higher mindedness that others may stick out their tongues at you. You can be a happy spirit in a somber world. Full Moon on the 6th brings up work issues or health matters. Nature is on your side. Plumbing problems get resolved a er the 15th. Fortunately, good things are coming soon. Life lightens up, too, at that time. DECEMBER would be perfect to hibernate ‘til springtime, but you’re not a bear. You may want to enjoy

the spirituality of the season, but you might feel withdrawn as Jupiter turns retrograde for four months. One way to use that would be to revisit people from your past to recapture the world you once created with them. Put away your arrows as they will fall short of their target this month. It’s a time to make plans for future endeavors. Something you learn on the 12th, will peak your interest in the meditative practices.

CAPRICORN (12/22-1/19) NOVEMBER is generally about friends and festivities. It’s your time to get out of the o ce, or get o the tractor and have some fun. e Goats have gained from the warmer

season’s harvest and now you are content to face the winter. Be sure to nd alone time a er the 22nd. ere seems to be “baggage” to drag along as you slowly forge ahead. Your energy is high enough and your will is strong. A focused aim will bring results. DECEMBER is bringing more than Christmas gi s. It’s bringing the gi of a new life direction. is can supplement to your current lifestyle, or a total change. You may seek more time alone over the next 2 1/2 years. Someone (your opposite), will be there to keep you from a state of depression. Actually, you can be quite happy with your semi-isolation. Action of a constructive nature will be required at home to prevent any possible catastrophes. You have four months to gure out if it is time to end things and replace things.

AQUARIUS (1/20-2/18) NOVEMBER opens with an intense happiness. ere seems to be something to celebrate as excitement lls the air. Your energies seem to be turned inward where sometimes. You

prefer the company of a butter y or owers. is is an example of how your di ering ways are actually quite normal. Next month, you will like people again. Meanwhile, just keep smiling and pretend. Gird yourself this month, because next month you must do battle with a dragon. You are developing the strength to ght this dragon, or the wisdom to ee to ght another day. DECEMBER promises to make things better right before the holidays. Your ruling planet turns direct a er nearly 5 months of setbacks and delays. If you had kept a diary or log during that time, you would have great wisdom to follow. e 4th is a great day which could bring great results next month. e 21st starts to feel like progress moving toward success. Listen to your inner voice. It could save you from being too much like your usual self. e 26th is good to be out in nature. X-mas has le a glow on you.

PISCES (2/19-3/20) NOVEMBER is a compatible time of year for you if you can accept a little crudity. Neptune turns direct mid-month. Life begins to return to normal and things go better. High energy and

a party mood starts the month. at lasts until almost T-Day. ere could be a slump in how you feel, but a er a few days you will regain your inside voice in time for that social event. Near the 26th, there could be a very special blessing related to your work place or reputation. It’s also a good month to start a new business. DECEMBER can have three annoying weeks to start with, but there are always good days too. What bugs you the most ‘til the 21st is people asking too much of you. ere are energies working against you in secret. You can spot them as the ones who are just too friendly, beyond normal. A hospital visit could be in store this month. Christmas and Pisces are about beliefs.
