Introduction

This booklet contains some of the philosophies used in the online Spiritualist Services whichhave taken place on the Psychics & Mediums Network website during 2003.

When it was planned to hold a Spiritualist service on the site an approach was made to theSpiritualists’ National Union (SNU), the largest Spiritualist organisation in the United Kingdom to ascertain its views on members of the site holding such a service. While aSpiritualist Church Service is not copyrighted to anyone it was felt that it was only courteousto let the SNU know what was being planned and seek its blessing and/or approval. This wasgiven and so the site became the very first Spiritual Website to hold a Spiritualist Servicerecognised by the Union.

Before the first service took place a format for an online service had to be devised. A normalSpiritualist Church service usually takes the form of:

Hymns are very useful in Church services for they move a person’s consciousness from the mundane material level to a more spiritual one and are also energy builders. It was important, therefore, that the online service should be able to create a spiritual atmosphere with only themelodies of inspired words which must perforce be cut and pasted into the Chat-roomdesignated as the Service Room.

One of the most difficult areas to deal with was visitors’ enthusiasm and sheer joy at being part of a Spiritualist service, even though many of the visitors had never seen the inside of aSpiritualist Church in their lives.

One hundred excited people, all wishing to talk at once, can be very difficult to control. Asthe service is typed, or pasted, into the room 1-3 lines at a time, what is being said can oftenbe lost in all the greetings and chatting that is going on unless a strong control is exerted andmaintained.

Once people have been to one or two services, they soon appreciate the reason for the formatand why it is necessary not to type anything into the room unless requested to do so.

In the middle of the Healing Visualisation everyone is asked to put into the room the name ofanyone they know who is in need of healing, in order that all may concentrate upon them. It isstressed that no condition must ever be mentioned as the site would be infringing theprovisions of the Data Protection Act by displaying information about people that (a) is donewithout permission and (b) in some cases people may not be aware of the true name andnature of their illnesses.

After the Healing Visualisation the Philosophy is cut and pasted into the room. This can oftenbe a revelation to many people as some of the visitors are not aware that Spiritualism is areligion; they associate Spiritualism with Mediums with Readings - spirit contact.

The Philosophy, therefore, is a vital part of the service, for it can be used to bring SpiritTeachings into the service and such teachings often includes a spiritually uplifting message

for everyone present.

A Demonstration of Mediumship follows the Philosophy, usually with two mediums takingpart. It can be appreciated that a communication which takes approximately seven minutes togive orally, in a Church, can take up to 15-20 minutes to type into a room, establish therecipient, have the communicator accepted and then the message relayed. The Service oftenruns for just over two hours and can be longer depending upon the typing speed of themedium. A medium who works very fast on a rostrum in a Church may be a very slow typist, which can make holding the link a little difficult, but all in all, the message always managesto get through.

After appreciation of the workers and all present, a final prayer will bring the service to aclose.

These services have been taking place at monthly intervals on the Psychics & MediumsNetwork website with great success.

Some of the philosophies used during the 2003 Services have been brought together in orderto compile this booklet and it is hoped that the readers of this booklet will enjoy them asmuch as the visitors did at the various services.

The net proceeds from the sale of this booklet will be used to help the Spiritualists’ National Union and its Churches. Spiritualism is a Religion; it was Yesterday’s Religion; Today’s Religion and the Religion, which is needed for Tomorrow.

January 2003 Philosophy(Vi Kipling)

I want to talk to you today about the word Awareness : a word that is overused in psychic andspiritualist circles and yet it is a necessary word. I am not talking about awareness in aphysical sense; the majority of us have all our five senses functioning pretty well and withthose senses we are aware of many things.

I am very much aware that it is cold today where I live, as I am sure it is for many of us. WhatI want to do is examine the word Awareness where it is used in relation to psychic andspiritual matters. With most words there are many different definitions, but with the wordAwareness there are many many levels; some of which we have knowledge and other levelswe have yet still to discover.

We are limited by time, however, so I am only going to talk about four levels of spiritawareness as I consider these to be the most important. I want to start, where we should startwhen our psychic faculty becomes enhanced, and that is with Awareness of the Spirit within :awareness of self.

Sometimes we are so eager to start our awareness classes and practise doing psychic exercisesthat we overlook possibly the most important spirit of all : ourselves. It is said that before youwill be able to love another, that first you must learn to love yourself.

It is an unfortunate fact though, that for most of us we will not allow time for ourselves; wewill find time for everyone and everything else, but for ourselves?

We are brought up to put self last–not to ask for ourselves, always to ask for others–that weare unimportant. If we believe this friends then, in my opinion, we are missing the wholeimportant point of life for each one of us is so very important and that without us, there wouldbe no Divine Plan or whatever people may seek to call life and our part in it.

Try discovering self and you will find not only how important you are, but also the number ofpeople to whom you are so important: you are part of so many people’s lives: not just family. Have a look at yourself, go beyond the physical and discover the beautiful spirit person thatyou really are and then allow the light of that spirit to sparkle more brightly in this world.

The next spirit awareness I want to look at is Awareness of Spirit within other people. Theevidence of survival that we receive in our messages from spirit make us realise that not only

do our families and friends continue to live, albeit in another state of existence, but it mustalso follow that so will we; every single one of us for we are all spirit, living in a physical

body in a material world as part of our life’s journey.

The Third Principle of Spiritualism is The Communion of Spirit and the Ministry of Angelswhich tells us that spirit can commune, and communicate, with each other– so why don’t we?

We are spirit; our evidence validates this, so why do we not talk to each other as much as weshould? We pray for world peace and the solution is in our own hands and so very simple, asall truths usually are. If man started talking to man there could be instant peace in our world

but we are so suspicious of each other’s religion, culture, wealth, land etc.

The Brotherhood of Man tells us that we are all linked together in the great family of man: weare all alike: we are all spirit and it seems such a sadness to me that we will spend years trying

PSYCHICS & MEDIUMS NETWORK

www.psychics.co.uk

to develop our mediumship so that we can link with spirit in the next world, when a little timedevoted to attuning ourselves to spirit in this world would help us all so much.

We are brothers and sisters and I shouldn’t need you to have to tell me you have a pain, or are feeling sad, or have been hurt–I should be able to know, without words, for we are linked by

the power of Divine Love one to another and as family we should be there for each other, supporting, uplifting, giving strength, healing and whatever help may be needed, when it is

needed. Are we?

I know that with many people, we are but it is a big world and there are a lot of people outthere who are not singing the same song as we are–the song of the spirit.

It is, therefore, incumbent upon each one of us that is spiritually aware, to seek to spread themelody of spirit throughout our world, even if we cannot meet everyone and speak to them,

we can utilise the power of thought.

Spirit helpers teach us that thoughts have an energy that can be directed to wherever we maydesire–so lets start encircling our world with positive thoughts of spiritual knowledge andperhaps, eventually, a little light of understanding may shine in the darkness of ignorance.

The third spirit awareness I would like to look at is Awareness of Spirit discarnate –spiritnow living in the world of thought–spirit who have gone home–to eternal rest? I doubt thatvery much –they will be as busy now as they ever were here, but the difference will be thatthey will be undertaking tasks, or occupations, that bring them joy, for that is what alloccupations should do.

Give fulfilment and a sense of purpose, but unfortunately that is not always the case. Themain thrust of Spiritualism is communication with those living in spirit who give messages ofhope and upliftment, usually through mediums, to convince us that they are still very muchaware of our lives and some of the problems we are facing.

I have heard it said, on occasions, by Spiritualists attending the various Churches that ‘I don’t come for the clairvoyance, I come for the Philosophy’and I always find this sad because theyhave just effectively told their Mums, Dads and other members of their families that they arenot interested in anything they have to say. I am sure this is not what they meant.

They no longer need messages as evidence of survival as they now know life is continuousbut I am sure they still cherish, and enjoy, as we all do, words of comfort and love receivedfrom their loved ones; perhaps we can think of a message as a postcard from home, reminding us that life is continuous and though we may be separated from each other at themoment, we have eternity in which to be together and the opportunities open for us to journeytogether on our spiritual progress are also eternal.

Our fourth awareness of spirit, and in my opinion the most important of all, is Awareness ofthe Supreme Spirit. We must not allow ourselves to become so enthralled with the freedomknowledge of our own immortal spirit gives us plus the fact that it is possible to communicatewith our family and friends in the world of spirit, that we overlook the fact that all this is onlydue to the fact that we are part of the Supreme Spirit: the Spirit of all Life: the CreativeSource: the Love Energy: name it what you will, we are still talking ‘God’ and without Godthere is no ‘us’: no spirit: no spirit contact: nothing!

It is important, therefore, to my way of thinking that we spend a little time reflecting on theGod Energy and the part it plays in our lives: the very fact that it is our lives! So often we goto Church and we sing hymns and repeat prayers parrot fashion and we are not reallyconcentrating, or even understanding at times, the relevance of the words we read.

Sometimes the hymns are so outdated, written by people with Victorian consciences, that itwould be far better to be silent than allow some of the words to be sung in our Churches.Spiritualists had to amend the words of the Lord’s Prayer as Spiritualists do not accept or recognise a God that would ‘lead’ us into temptation and the words have been altered to:‘leave us not when in temptation’.

It can be seen, therefore, that perhaps Churches are not always the right place in which to beat one with your God because it is an at-one-ment, while living on earth, that we should beseeking. This at-one-ment would give us a greater understanding and knowledge of that GodEnergy and of ourselves if we could but achieve it. I can see no reason whatsoever why itcannot be achieved.

There are many people in this world who claim to have had mystical experiences, in whichthey have become entranced and entered a state of bliss. In this state they assert that time, space and all life is as ONE; they are at one with the ALL. These people are called mysticsand they advise that this experience transforms their lives; all life’s priorities are re-arrangedand they tell us that they start to live their lives in an exalted condition.

They feel an at-one-ment has been achieved. Jesus summed up mysticism very well when hesaid: ‘I and my Father are One!’

I contend friends that God does not play favourites and that if one person on this earth canhave one of these experiences, then we all can, for we may be individually unique, but we areall offspring of the Divine. The question of how to achieve this is another matter.

If I may suggest to you that one way I can see that may make such an experience possible isjust to sit, enter the silence (‘Be Still and Know that I am God’), relax, allow the God essence which is the life force within each one of us, to emerge from our innermost recesses and thatenergy will seek its own level and that level is a blending with the Creative Energy thatpermeates all life and in that blending will be that magical mystical experience we areseeking. It can happen! It does happen! It won’t happen, however, unless we find time to sit for God. We must find time in our very busy lives to sit for the God Energy which has givenus all time

“The oldest wisdom in the world tells us that we can consciously unite with the divine whilstin the body, for this man is really born.” (Rhadakrishnan)

It is good to be aware; it is good to be spiritually aware so let us be aware on as many levelsas we can and then let us truly awaken and experience our own Divinity.

May the love of spirit and the supreme Spirit touch our souls and move us a little furtheralong the path of spiritual aspiration.

February 2003 Philosophy(Vi Kipling)

I am getting to have quite a reputation for changing services and substituting hymns withsacred songs. Consequently, people are beginning to think that I do not like hymns which isnot actually the case.

What I do object to most strongly are some of the dirges we sing in our Churches and Iinclude all Churches here; hymns that are doom and gloom; hymns that are so dreary anypositivity you were trying to engender reverses itself and the whole room is so negative thattrying to make a spirit link is like trying to walk through a quagmire.

Hymns are not prayers or supplications to a jealous or mean-spirited God seeking approval ofhow we live our lives; hymns should be songs of celebration for our lives, which are eternal.

I think possibly my favourite hymn is:

The voice of an angel falls sweet on my earIt whispers of goodness which conquers our fear;

It speaks of a father who governs in loveWho draws all his children to bright homes above.

I can never sing, or listen to, this hymn without the thought crossing my mind –I wonderwhat it would really be like to listen to the voice of an angel and I think I must first of allclarify exactly what I mean when I talk about angels. I am talking about people, people whohave lived so long, learned so much, and progressed their own spirituality to such a degreethat they are now 99 percent perfect.

There are many times in all our lives when, just to be able to sit down and talk to anangel would have helped so much; an angel would listen and not judge; an angelwould listen and not condemn; an angel would listen and not repeat; an angel wouldlisten and encourage; an angel would listen and just fill our beings with thatunconditional love which they have for each one of us.

Our angels may not be able to, or even allowed to, give us the answers we seek; sometimeswe have to be the arbiters or our own solutions but I do feel we would feel better from the factthat we have been able to open up our troubled souls and disclose our innermost thoughts andfeelings to another soul who truly does care.

Those are always my thoughts when I listen to that beautiful hymn. The only problem is someChurches spoil it by singing it to the wrong tune and once I stopped the service and Doris(Harmonia) and I sang solo together - the real tune.

Suffice it to say, she has never forgiven me or forgotten it and if ever we are seated on arostrum and the organist strikes up a different tune to any of my favourite hymns, she turnsand glowers at me and I can actually read her thoughts! I must be psychic!

But I digress, what I really wanted to do tonight friends is have a little look at the SevenPrinciples of Spiritualism which are more than just guidelines given to us by those in thespirit world.

They encompass, as far as I am concerned, all the natural and spiritual laws of which we needto be aware in order that we may get through this lifetime without making too many errors.

The Fatherhood of God is THE ABSOLUTE of all laws; first, last and forever and I canaccept that there is an energy source, or force, that is responsible for creation of the physicaluniverse and I can also conceive that there must be other universes that I cannot, as yetperceive.

There is an ocean of life in a drop of water; there is a universe of life in a grain of sand. It isonly through our technological discoveries that we have found the teeming life in water and insand; our great great grandparents would probably have laughed if they had been told this –what they could not see, really could not have any existence.

I can remember an elderly friend I had whose daughter had bought a television in the early50s; he was amazed at the picture of the presenter but became so cross because when the

presenter spoke directly to him and he responded, the presenter ignored him.

It was impossible for his daughter to explain to him the concept of television waves.

Now with computers and amazing software, virtual reality, telephones with pictures and anemail facility, we just take all these things for granted and we have a tendency to get a littleblasé –nothing really excites, or surprises us anymore which I feel is a little sad. Life, creation itself, is so incredibly exciting if we will live it with all senses open to appreciate it.

The Second Principle, Brotherhood of Man, is a physical, a biological, a natural and aspiritual law if only we could realise and come to terms with this. It is evident in all religionsand yet we all acknowledge this principle and then totally ignore it. To really accept it wouldmean it would be totally impossible for anyone to hurt another person - the very thought ofsuch an act would be abhorrent - and therefore there would be no more wars. As far as I amconcerned, and maybe I am being a little simplistic here, there is a Brotherhood of Man, aFamily of Life, but we don’t treat each other as though everyone was part of it. The ones weapprove of are ok; the ones who don’t behave as would wish them to, we don’t always want to know.

The Communion of Spirit and the Ministry of Angels is our next Principle (back to ourangels) and this is the Principle which is known as the Key Principle; this is the Principlewhich validates the philosophy of Spiritualism.

It is through the communion of spirit that we get our evidence that man survives death;continues to have knowledge of those he loves who still live in a physical environment andcan communicate with them. Communication takes place through the auspices of mediumisticpeople in the physical world and the auspices of guides/angels living in spirit.

It is also through the communication we have with the spirit world that we realise our ownimmortality and the fact that we too must be spirit, otherwise we would not survive death andeveryone does just that.

That knowledge must then be examined and brought into our lives and into our thinkingbecause then the communion of spirit takes on a new dimension - if we are all spirit, then weshould be talking to each other –not just wishing to contact those in the spirit world. Again, being utterly naïve, I believe that if man will talk to man, there would be no more wars. It is

within our own hands and what is the point of killing each other when there is no death andwe will have to face each other in the next stage of life. The Fourth Principle, Continuous Existence - I see this as evolution in our physical world, innature–in its changes and its progression and also in the evolution of man–in his body andin his thinking.

This evolution must perforce, continue to operate through the spiritual dimensions for thephysical world is but a mere reflection of our true states of reality - spirit!

Personal Responsibility is the Principle I had, and still have, the greatest difficult with. Thismeans I am responsible for my thoughts, words and deeds; easily said but not easily carriedthrough I am afraid. I can watch my words and zip my lips; I can watch my deeds by backingaway from situations but how do I control my thoughts?

People can be very cruel, the news witnesses this. Unfortunately the media carries very littlegood news as bad news attracts more viewing figures. We are constantly bombardedtherefore, on our television screens and in our newspapers, with horrendous happeningsthroughout our world which makes monitoring our thoughts so very very difficult.

I have found a little mind exercise (not pink pineapples) which I use when I have problemswith my thoughts. I tend to think that people who hurt others are very sad people or perhapsthey are hurting.

When I am happy I am so full of joy my body feels it will burst and I want to share this joywith everyone so it is obvious to me that someone who deliberately hurts another is not happyor they could not do this. To deal with someone like this I find a quiet time and place and stillmy mind and then I begin to think of all the people in my life who I love both in this worldand the next.As I do this I find my body is filled with my love for them and when I feel I am going to burstwith all this love, I focus on the person who is causing me to think so negatively because ofhis/her behaviour and I allow the love within me to flow out to them as a pink cloudystreamer, which will encircle them and cover them from head to toe with love.

It will not erase the act and they will have to face the consequences but it means that I am notsending out negative thoughts which can only ever add to this persons problems.

The Sixth Principle, Compensation and Retribution for all the good and evil deeds done onearth progresses the Fifth Principle; we are responsible for our lives and this Principle whichis basically the Law of Cause and Effect, tells us–give out good, expect good back; give outbad and don’t be surprised when bad returns.

Many people think this law doesn’t apply until they pass into spirit and it is then they will look at their lives and start paying back where needed. Laws don’t work like that. They are operating all the time and you don’t need to wait until you get into spirit to look at your life.

I examine mine every day and see where I could have done a little better, been a little kinderand perhaps should try a little harder. I never berate myself as I know we all do the best thatwe can at the time but I don’t wait until New Year to make resolutions; every new day is a

new challenge and I determine I will be better behaved and more spiritual. That reminds meof that little prayer:

Dear LordSo far today, I am doing all right; I have not gossiped, lost my temper, been greedy, grumpy, nasty, selfish or over-indulgent.

However, I am getting out of bed in a few minutes and I will need a lot more help after that.Amen

The Seventh Principle is possibly my favourite as it actually sums up them all. When I firstread this Principle I was thrilled because I knew it meant all the missed opportunities in thislife, for whatever reason, usually lack of money, would be available for me in the next. Then Iremembered my roller skates!

As a child I loved to roller skate but my parents could not afford to buy me my own pair ofskates so I prayed, and I prayed; every year to Santa for my own pair of skates and eventuallythat glorious day arrived and there they sat –on the end of my bed –Father Christmas hadhad his ears syringed and do you know what friends, I no longer wanted them!

I had now discovered boys and they were far more fascinating than roller skates!

Looking at Eternal Progress and remembering my roller skates I realised that eternity was notabout doing or obtaining some of the things I missed out on in my physical life, but that it wasmore about continuing with my spiritual growth; I grew out of roller skates and grew in to thefascination of romance.

Opportunities within spiritual realms will be available for me to grow spiritually; to learnmore; to progress my ability to express more of myself in my relationships with others; to bethe kind of person I would be proud to know; to grow –to learn–to shine–until one day -one day I too would be 99 percent perfect!

One day I too can be 99 percent perfect - eternal progress opens wide that door to spiritualopportunities. Reflecting that thought across all of us means that you too have it within you toalso achieve angelic status–one day!

And there is no use telling me that you couldn’t even be a saint never mind an angel; saints never thought of themselves as such; they were just busy people living their lives to the bestof their ability and finding ways in their lives to be of service to others, sometimes sacrificingtheir lives in that service.

I am not telling you that you are saints but I am telling you is that every single person whoever lived, lives or will live, has angelic potentiality for we have all been given eternal life inwhich to learn and spiritually grow and one day it is possible for us all to achieve the ultimatein compassion, understanding, tolerance, love, wisdom and all the other attributes of spiritualexpression.

You met the most important person in your life in the visualisation, which was yourself, sonow may I suggest that when you are in desperate need and wish you could listen to the voiceof an angel, that you find some space; still your mind; enter the silence and listen!

“People travel to wonder at the height of the mountains, at the huge waves of the sea, at the long courses of rivers, at the vast compass of the ocean, at the circular motion of the stars, andthey pass themselves by without wondering" (St Augustine)

You are all going to be sick of keeping having to listen to me doing the philosophy but I canassure you that this is only short-term and we do have other speakers who will delight you

with their philosophy.

So what shall we look at tonight? Perhaps we should have a good look at life: at existence andat our part within its eternal structure.

There are so many ancient and modern philosophers who will advise us of the purpose of ourexistence and many religious adherents who would try to advise us on how to live our lives. It

is not my purpose tonight, friends, to belittle these philosophers or these religiousadministrators; all I can do for you is to share my reflections on life with you.

Any wisdom I may have achieved has been obtained from the teachings of my life’s experiences, the teachings of those souls in spirit who work with me and my interaction with

people from all walks of life. I have studied the various religious philosophies, includingSpiritualism, and have come up with my own philosophy for life, as most of us will do.

One of the definitions of religion is a belief in a divine power and it often amuses me at thenumerous people who tell me quite unequivocally that they are not religious and that they donot believe in God.

There is an indwelling divine force in all of us which makes us religious. This does notnecessarily mean we pray to God; we go to Church; we discuss God etc.

It means that as each one of us cannot be divided or separated from God, then we arereligion! An individual and unique expression of that creative energy which is its own temple;which contains its own soul teachings and which is presently manifesting as an expression of

Divine Love on earth at the moment, as part of its life’s eternal journey.

There are many people who will tell us that we are born to suffer because it is only throughsuffering that we will gain spiritual understanding and inner knowledge. That is so untrue!

Not only is it so untrue it is also illogical and I would argue this principle with the world’s greatest theologians and academics.

It is illogical on the one hand to tell people that God is Love and that we are creations of thatperfect Love and then, on the hand, tell these same people that this Almighty Power lovesthem so much it has arranged for them to have an earthly existence in which to experience

suffering, pain, hardship, deprivation, mental and physical tortures etc

In the first place, every single one of us already has spiritual understanding and innerknowledge; it is just unfortunate that life can become so difficult and people can be so cruel,

that this understanding and knowledge often remains buried deep within us. This last sentencetells us that the majority of us do experience suffering while living our lives but not at God’s

behest. Never!

In the second place, we have to ask ourselves the question: Why did I give my children life?Did you give your children birth in order for them to suffer? I certainly did not! I had my twochildren (and one who never touched earth) in order that I and my husband, and the rest of ourlarger family, could love them. Not particularly as expressions of parental love.

I wanted my children so I could love them and I do, even though at times they make meweep; that is part of loving. As far as I am concerned, therefore, it follows that a Divine

PSYCHICS & MEDIUMS NETWORK

www.psychics.co.uk

Father who is Love, would give life to us, through the power of Love, in order that we, too,can be loved.

Perhaps I am being too simplistic again, but I always find the tiny bits of truth, or what Iconsider to be truth, that I discover, are so very, very, simple.

I look upon myself as one of God’s little ambassadors and I spend a lot of time arguing onbehalf of God. Some people still worship God through fear; I don’t think I worship God so

much as just love God and my God is a God of Joy, a God of Rejoicing, a God of Laughter, aGod of Compassion, a God of Inspiration; my God is even a God of Giggles.

There is no greater sound in life than a baby giggling and if ever I want to be reminded of thelove of God I look at a baby and I see God and if that little one is giggling, then my God is

giggling.

When a young person says to me I am so happy I know something bad has got to happen, Ijust get so angry with society and religions that allow our children to live their lives thinkinghappiness has to be balanced with sorrow. I often wonder who sat down in the first place and

concocted all these silly rules, often calling them laws; it certainly wasn’t my God.

I was once taking a church service in a small Community Centre. There was no churchbuilding and people hired a Community Centre and met there; above the meeting room was

the flat of the caretaker who was not particularly happy with Spiritualists using his Centre. Onthis particular night I stood to do the opening prayer with all heads bowed before me.

I never close my eyes to pray; I never bow my head, if anything I lift it, so I was watching thecongregation. As I opened my mouth and began the prayer by saying…… Now as we enter the silence of prayer……… the caretaker upstairs, who would know by the silence what was happening, put on his cd player; his television set, turned on his washing machine and then

started hovering his floor.

It was absolute pandemonium! All hell was being let loose upstairs. I was practicallyspeechless but soldiered on as a good little medium should and the congregation appeared to

be totally oblivious. At the end of the prayer I remained standing and spoke to thecongregation.

I told them that when the uproar started my first reaction was to laugh hysterically becausethe whole situation was so funny (especially after I had just said the words….. silence of prayer……) but I had to control this reaction because they (the congregation) would have not been amused; they would have thought me totally irreverent. God would not have minded atall; but they would have done. God would have giggled with me if the truth were known. Soeven Spiritualists have not come as far along the path of individual religious tolerance andfreedom as they think they have; unless, of course, my conception of God is at variance to

that of everyone else.

Once I had to visit a Church of a different denomination to mine because my first grandsonwas to be dedicated to God. My son had been trying a long time to get me inside his Church

so I could be saved and now that day had arrived.

I respect everyone’s religion so went with an open heart and mind; the singing wasunbelievable, there was a guitar, a drum, a recorder and a clarinet and everyone there just

about lifted the roof with their singing; the energies were electric.

All went well until a lady started preaching telling everyone about the Good Shepherd andthat we are all sheep (which I take exception to) and that if we all followed the Good

Shepherd we would be saved. However, the Butcher walked behind the flock to catch anddestroy all those who strayed from the path.

When this was said I felt everyone’s eyes on me; the hairs on the back of my neck stood on end. I glared, very spiritually, at the Minister and his sister who was the lady speaking and

remained cool.Notwithstanding the nature of the talk, the energies in that Church which were produced bythe singing and the love in the hearts of every person there were such that I had an amazing

vision.

I saw quite clearly the most beautiful spirit person, in long iridescent white robes, surroundedin a golden glow, standing close to the speaker and just looking at her with such a wealth of

love but which was tempered with a little sadness.

My son wanted to know if I would like to continue to go to his Church now there was a chairwith my name on it. I told him yes I would, but not until “you worship a God of Love as there

is no room in my life or philosophy for a God of Slaughter!”

I was so shocked that people are still being taught that God is vengeful, destructive anddifferentiates between his children and it was at this point I decided it was time I tried to put

the record straight and enrolled as an Ambassador!

We cannot begin to comprehend Divine Love; we are restricted by our concept of the lovethat we are aware of in this world; parents’ love, sweethearts’ love, altruistic love, an encompassing love of all people even though we do not always like the deeds they perpetrateupon each other.

These loves are miniscule drops in the ocean of Divine Love which is capable of the act ofcreation –creation of all universes –all states of being –all levels of dimensions andvibrations–forms and existences we do not even have the words to describe.

We cannot understand it but we can rejoice in the fact that we are part of it; that we carry theessence of divinity within our very beings and because of this fact we, too, are capable of

unconditional love for we are unconditional love.

It can take quite a while for us to awaken to the truth; to the fact that even though society andorganisations within society may try to convince us that we are unimportant, should be

humble, should not pray for ourselves; should always put ourselves last; should not be proud,

I, as one of God’s little ambassadors, just want to remind you that you may not be important to society but you are as a diamond on a shore of pebbles in the eyes of God; you are loved

beyond all measure and you should be proud; you should stand tall and recognise yourself forwho you really are.

Our problem is that we really cannot understand the concept of eternity so we fail torecognise the significance of the fact that we are immortal beings, given eternal life by that

creative love energy that we call God.

It is also a fact that we would not have such an existence if we were not the most priceless, the most indescribably beautiful, spiritual beings, whose lights may be momentarily dimmedby a physical body but who has it within them to shine as the brightest star, lighting thedarkness of ignorance wherever it may abound.

So do not worry about the purpose of your life; let it be sufficient to know that your life iseternal and stretches before you as a sea of endless possibilities; let your aim in life be just to

live life to the full and in that living, react and interact with those you meet on your life’s pathway allowing the divinity within you to express itself and reach out to touch the divine

within all those with whom you make contact.

So know that life is for living Joyfully; instil Joy in all your dealings with your fellowmen andmay your experience of your God always be a Joyful one.

“Allow the wings of the Angel of Joy to enfold you in their soft embrace bringing peace to troubled hearts and a serenity of spirit.”

May 2003 Philosophy(Carolyn Cartwright)

I don't consider myself a philosopher so I thought I had better get my facts straight about whatthe word philosophy means before sitting down, scratching my beard, smoking a pipe, contemplating my navel, or doing what ever else it is that philosophers do.

This then is the definition of Philosophy from the Chambers Dictionary :Philosophy.

1. The search for truth and knowledge concerning the Universe, human existence, perception and behaviour pursued by means of reflection, reasoning and argument. Istarted to break into a cold sweat when I read that! But then....

2. Any particular system or set of beliefs established as a result of this. And then………

3. A set of principles serving as a basis for making judgments and decisions: one'sphilosophy for life.

Now that made me think well maybe I can deliver something based on number 3. Yes I cando that. I can share what I feel, what I think, and what some of my own personal philosophyfor life is and maybe it might make some sense to someone else.

So with that in mind I would like to share a few of my own simple thoughts with you that arestirred each time I watch the film Forrest Gump.

I am sure many of you have seen that film and like me have been moved by its messages.

The theme that runs throughout the film it is that of Forrest (a man that some would perceiveas intellectually challenged) relaying how he has come to where he is in his life at thatmoment and the experiences he has had along the way.

The film opens with Forrest sat waiting for a bus, he's on a really important emotional journeyand to fill his time he talks to all the people that sit on the bench next to him, waiting for theirown bus.

People come and go, some listen, some don't. Forrest talks away to them through his nervousenergy and his pure simplicity. He needs to talk and to share what he knows as his own truth, the one thing that his Momma always told him, her philosophy of life.

She always told him Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're gonna get.

This honest and simplistic truth for Forrest is something that strikes a chord with me althoughI suppose it can be perceived as a bland statement like All part of life's rich tapestry, or, Life'sa journey. It could even be perceived as something that one could deeply and psychologically analyse, scrutinizing the complex make-up of the strawberry crème or the nutty truffle. I could venturethat some may think also that it's just a lip-service saying like Oh well life's like a box ofchocolates, what you gonna do ho hum.

Or the most negative one of all. Life's a female dog and then you die. I really dislike that one!

Whatever your particular view of the box of chocolates statement is, the one thing that surelytouches us as in some way the truth is that we don't know what we're going to get.

This may sound an odd statement to make in a room full of psychics and mediums but to howmany of us is our life journey revealed? How many of us actually know what we're going toget in this life?

I sit here actually laughing and chuckling at myself when I think about the fact that you neverknow what you're going to get because I facilitate classes on this site about bringing goals andaspirations into reality. So I am a great believer in the fact that you can have some influenceand control over some of the things that you do get.

I think the key here is that whilst I may do that for myself and help other people to see thatin their own way I still cannot be responsible for what anyone is going to get fromtheir own box of chocolates.

What I can do though is my hardest to meet the challenge of understanding what I get when Iopen mine up and allow myself to have the best possible attitude towards it; often challengingin itself.

My own personal truth about where I choose to get to in this life and on this journey is thatthe experience of getting to the goal that we desire is in some way the actual goal. The peoplethat I meet, the friends I make, the experiences I have, the challenges that with the appropriateattitude from me can be turned into opportunity; again challenging.

There are many times that I find myself in a position of knowing or a position of doubt aboutmy own personal box of chocolates. Do I stick with the soft centre that I know and understandis my safe option? Or, do I step up to meet the challenge of the hard centre that will certainlybe tough and make me chew a bit and maybe even alert me to a visit to the dentist?

What about when I get distracted, what about when things aren't going well, or if someonehas taken all the chocolates I like. You know, those who sneak your favourite ones out of thebottom layer before the top one's finished. Doesn't that just tick you off?

At times like that I know I tend to internalise and cry out for something that will help me. Weall need signs don't we? Something that shows us we are valuable, are valued and add value.

We all want to make a difference and to show that we have lived. We need to make our mark;we all need acknowledgement.

This raises the question to me that as we go through this physical life is how muchacknowledgment do we need to know that we are on the right track? What does it take to stopus from feeling lost or lacking purpose and direction? And where should we be looking forthat?

Do we need complements? Do we need to make lots of money? Do we need to always havean easy route? Do we need no hardship or misfortune? Or do we just need to open our heartsand minds and go with the flow?

I don't have the answers but I do believe that a lot of them come from within our own self.I know and believe that my attitude to whatever helps or hinders my own personal journeythrough this life is surely what will influence my next step, my next experience and openanother door or doors that I can choose to enter, or not.

When I reflect on Forrest Gump's story I see that he struggled through his life with a less thanperfect intellect but with a spirit so strong and pure and innocent. He never questioned hispath, or doubted love. Forrest accepted his own truth, he lived his life as things arrived to him, they weren't always good but he never questioned a thing or asked, why me? Yet somehowout of his challenges came his own personal victories.

Forrest's life appeared hard to us, it was challenging, and we somehow identify with his story;but can we identify with and adopt his attitude and dig into our own spirit a little deeper tolive a life that does not feel unfulfilled in some way?

Personal success in my view cannot be measured by anything material, it can only be gainedthrough an attitude of acceptance of who we really are as unique individuals and by beingentirely honest with ourselves. Once we can reach that point then I for one believe that ourpurpose in life becomes clearer.

Our goals get bigger and more meaningful and we embrace change and challenge; acceptingthe flow of life around us and taking on the most positive approach to living in life, and withlife, that we can.

I found a quote that I would like to share with you, and it completely floored me, it made methink so hard about the moments that I know I can spend questioning things and wasting a lotof time and energy on thinking too much instead of adopting a different attitude and seeingwhat might happen next.

There'll be two dates on your tombstone and all your friends will read them but all that isgoing to matter is that little dash between them. Kevin Welch.

Some may find that a sombre thought. To me it is a huge push on my positivity button. KevinWelch's philosophy is about living our lives, about doing something, about having positivethought and attitude towards our own personal philosophy, maybe even about making sure weactually do have a personal philosophy for life. Now there's a thought!

Our own box of chocolates is of course relative to us. If we can take each bite of this life as itunfolds and treasure each taste, sound, sight and experience then our own sweet journey willsurely unfold in front of us. If we accept that we are the tasters; like Forrest did.

July 2003 Philosophy(Vi Kipling)

I don’t particularly want to talk too long tonight but I do want to say a few words about the religion of Spiritualism because everyone has such a strange idea about it at times. Apart fromit being classified as a religion of old women we are also accused of being a religion ofmessages and that people only go to Spiritualist Churches to receive messages; and that’s fine if that’s what some people need.

Spiritualism is about messages but not just about evidence from our mums and our dads thatthey continue to live, there is a greater message within Spiritualism that sometimes we do notalways see because so many people need that love and comfort spirit contact gives.

What I find very funny is that when you tell someone you are a Spiritualist they then ask areyou a medium and if you admit to that then they want you to tell them all about Spiritualismin 10 minutes while you have a cup of coffee and a cigarette which is a pretty tall orderbecause Spiritualism is about life and how can you define life in ten minutes?

We can, however, break it down into three statements: Spiritualism is about (1) there is nodeath; (2) Spiritualism is about it is possible to communicate with spirit and (3) Spiritualismis about that special relationship each one of us has with that Love Energy we call God.

So Spiritualism is about there is no death and that life is eternal. The philosophy ofSpiritualism contained within the 7 Principles tells us that there is Communion of Spiritsand our family and friends do come through with their messages week in and week out, giving us evidence of their continued survival.

What that actually means, of course, is that if they survive then we must also survive. Goddoesn’t play favourites so we all live and that fact in itself should transform our very lives forit tells us we are immortal beings and that we are going to live for ever and ever and ever andever and ever ad infinitum.

This is something that we cannot always understand but that knowledge, however, should fillour lives with so much joy that we should actually be living reflections of the Philosophy ofSpiritualism. We are not only Gods little ambassadors, we are also in the vanguard of thespiritual revolution which is happening now.

We can show people, by just being ourselves, the beautiful spirit people that we are, that welive our lives conscious of our immortality and our inherent divinity for there is no death andSpiritualism is about the fact we can communicate with spirit.

Now I have a great problem with this statement. The whole point of the evidential messagesof Spiritualism is that we are all spirit, some living in the spirit world and some still livinghere. So if there is a Communion of Spirits why do we not talk to each other? Are we notspirit?

It is a sobering fact that until man learns to talk to man we will never achieve peace in ourworld and while it is beautiful to receive messages of love from spirit, it would be even more

PSYCHICS & MEDIUMS NETWORK

www.psychics.co.uk

beneficial if we could give each other messages of love and learn to understand each otherbetter than we do.

So we have to concentrate on communicating here while on earth as well as communicatingwith our loved ones in spirit.

Spiritualism is also about that special relationship each one of us with God and that is thegreater message of Spiritualism; that we have been chosen; that we are so special; that wehave been given eternity in which to live, in which to grow, in which to spiritually mature.

We do not have to do this without help for we are surrounded by loving beings in this worldand the next who are there helping us to understand ourselves; to understand the spirit worldand to understand just how precious we are; how we are loved beyond measure by those veryspecial people living in spirit who act as our guardians and also by the Power of Divine Light, that Love Energy which is responsible for our very beings.

This knowledge, of our own immortality, which is so precious and yet it is something we allbring to earth with us is so often ignored or overlooked. We just tend to let life get in our wayand we bury our spiritual knowledge because of the pain we suffer and the problems of life

That knowledge is part of us and we know we are indeed immortal and each one of us, onan individual level, links with the Godhead.

This knowledge just fills me with so much joy as I am sure it does each one of you so I knowyou may have problems, I know you probably suffer pain but please remember your divineinheritance and use your spiritual knowledge, not only to help in your life but also to helpyour brothers and sisters who are still walking in the darkness of spiritual unawareness.

May God bless and keep you all.

August 2003 Philosophy(Carolyn Cartwright)

Hello everyone great to see you all here again..

Now I am just going to spend a little while sharing a few words with you

It never ceases to amaze me practically on a daily basis how dreadful one person can be toanother. I am not talking about the unintentional loose word or careless thought, althoughthey of course can be just as harmful, I mean the intentional words, thoughts and deeds thatwe knowingly administer on each other.

I was inspired to talk to you about how we can sometimes treat one another following anexperience online during a sleepless night a few weeks ago. I couldn’t sleep but I knew I was not awake enough to, say come into Delphi to work for a few hours, but I was awake enoughto have a browse around the net - like you do :-)

I chatted with some friends for a while and then found myself for the first time in years drawnto the chat rooms supplied by my ISP. My first experience of chatting online was in thoserooms about 6 years ago and I met some lovely friends some of which I am still in contactwith now.Now I appreciate that chat rooms and talking online is very very different from talking face toface or even over the telephone.

The written word, despite the many emoticons and other internet language characteristics wecan use, in no way can express our true feeling or intention behind the words we use, and ittakes a great deal of patience and strength to keep a sense of perspective which as I am sureyou all know is very challenging.

The chatroom I found myself in was just a general laid back room, friendly, non-threateningor indecent and I was nicely welcomed by complete strangers. They chatted about nothing in particular and had a few laughs for about 15 minutes but thensuddenly it was clear from what was being exchanged that two people had specific issues witheach other and as often happens (and we all unfortunately witness this sometimes in Delphi)other people join in.

I sat back and watched for a while absolutely fascinated but totally disturbed at the same timeby the vile exchange that I was witnessing, and believe me it became personal, and veryoffensive. Call me a voyeur if you like but this behaviour intrigued me especially as more andmore of the users in the room joined in the barrage of abuse that was being hurled at oneperson.

It was obvious to me as an observer that there was a long standing issue between these peopleand I have no clue as to whether they actually knew each other personally or even lived in thesame country or whether indeed it was a serious matter spilling over into their own realworlds. They may even have been good internet or real life friends at some point, it wasn’t clear from their verbal exchange what had happened as it was purely very personal insultswith absolutely no intention of trying to sort out any differences - just plain abuse.

I decided not to get involved at all as it was not my place to interfere, this was my first visit towhat they would consider ‘their’ community and whilst they had been perfectly friendly to me before the argument commenced I wasn’t so sure they would appreciate anything I might have to say on the matter, so I just continued watching and sent as much positivity in thoughtas I possibly could towards them.

As sensitives the majority of you in this room tonight will empathise with how this started toaffect me, maybe too it is worse when you witness something like this online because you canreally feel the intent and the negativity behind every statement of abuse that gets hurled..

There are as we know from being in this community a gazillion positives to us being able toshare time online and learn online and experience openly all manner of wonderfully spiritualthings as we have the opportunity to do tonight. The screen and keyboard though are alsogreat enablers of our alter ego.

They can tempt and coerce us to become someone else and to forgo any principles, values, ethics or morals that we actually hold very dear.

It’s almost sometimes as if it doesn’t matter what we say - after all we are only typing anddon’t mean it really and it’s only the internet not reality. Or maybe we think well I don’t really know the person and never have to meet them so I don’t need to worry about what I’ve said.

But surely it does matter and surely we should worry. You see I believe that whether you typeit, think it, say it - it counts. It hits the spot somewhere - negativity is a living breathing thingwith an energy of its own that has to find a target, and in some way, shape or form it will andthe target I believe is us if we are the source of the negativity.

Negativity breeds on our intolerance, our differences, our quick judgements, our speedy

PSYCHICS & MEDIUMS NETWORK

www.psychics.co.uk

typing fingers that say things that we don’t really mean. It operates on the basis of cause and effect.

Now I am sure you are all finding this a reasonably interesting little story and thinking ohwell that’s what happens on the internet or whatever, but my point in all this is really about tolerance and understanding and the choice that we all have in engaging our brain beforeeither opening mouth or letting our fingers do the talking.

I was mulling over the chatroom argument a few nights after it occurred whilst I was in themiddle of a game of Trivial Pursuit with my husband - yes we lead an exciting life ! You maylaugh at this point Room.

He asked me one of those ‘who said’ questions, I gave my answer which was totally incorrect based on the fact that I was so outraged not with the owner of the quote but at the quote itself- my excuse for not winning and I’m sticking to it.

It doesn’t matter who said this or why - the words will always now be with me “society needs to condemn a little more and understand a little less”.

I looked at my husband and I said have the words been misprinted, shouldn’t it be understand a little more and condemn a little less? No, he said, it’s correctly printed. I was stunned. I started thinking about the statement in the light of what I had witnessed in the chatroom andhow everyone was condemning everyone else without even one pause for breath tounderstand that it was (probably) not only futile but also so incredibly damaging.

I also started thinking well if I am part of Society why do I need to condemn more andunderstand less? Even breaking down Society as a whole we have our own little communities, our churches, our chatrooms, Delphi, Elysium, workplaces, families, homes, friends, pubs, clubs, teams, groups etc

Everything that we are involved with on a daily basis is our own personal Society and I justwonder how understanding of that own personal Society we really are? Surely it is throughunderstanding and tolerance that we find compassion which is the very essence, in my view,of spiritual connection person to person.

The people whose behaviour I witnessed that sleepless night had choices as we all do - theycould have chosen to not be involved and to not allow the argument to progress. But soinvolved in the cycle of negativity had they become that they could not, and did not want to,remove themselves from it and allowed to spiral out of control.

What if they had taken a step back? What if just one of them had said you know what I don’t want to feel like this and I don’t want to hear this and I don’t want to be involved. I have a choice in what I say, I have a choice in what I do next and whilst I can’t change the others that are behaving in this way I can be responsible for my behaviour and make the choice formyself to not condemn but to understand what is going on here.

That choice only takes a moment and it’s a choice that to me speaks loudly of someone withgreat courage, conviction and strength of self which each and everyone of us has if we onlybelieve that we can be our own unique and wonderful selves in all that we do and not allowothers to have a negative influence.

Or more importantly not allow ourselves to be the instigator of negativity.

To me these sorts of experiences and choices are so key to how we progress along ourpathways as we start to become more aware of the spiritual nature of our human existence.

Page 21: The Elysium Psychic SchoolThe Elysium Psychic School This document may be subject to copyright. Deemed only for personal use as part of the lessons and classes at the Elysium Online

PSYCHICS & MEDIUMS NETWORK

They arenot easy experiences and choices and I don’t think they are meant to be because the knowledge we gain from them is so huge and enlightening that it takes us several attempts totry and get anywhere near comprehending the fact that the experience has occurred, let alonetrying to learn from it.

In several of his wonderful teachings Silver Birch tells us, and I quote.... “You are not bodies with spirits, you are spirits with bodies. The real you is not the countenance you behold in amirror. That is only part of a physical apparatus, a complex machinery, that the spirit uses toexpress itself in your world. Spirit is superior to matter; spirit is the king, matter is theServant.

You have to remember that you are imperfect beings living in an imperfect world. If the GreatSpirit wanted you to be perfect you would not have been placed on earth. You have thechoice, the free will as to how you utilise the gifts, the powers, the talents with which you areendowed.”

I pray that each and every one of us can grow stronger in our spiritual selves each day andwhen faced with the challenge to be negative and intolerant towards another that weremember who we really are, and who they really are also. And that we can just take that littledeep breath, that quick pause for thought and remember that we have indeed the choice tounderstand more and condemn less.

Thank you for listening and in the words of George Harrison - love one another.

September 2003 Philosophy(Vi Kipling)

Be still and know that I am God!

Do we actually understand what that sentence means? Be still and know that I am God.

As far as I am concerned, it is telling me, that if I can find, and then go into, the stillness, thechances of me achieving an at-one-ment with God are so much greater than if I choose toignore this instruction.

Do I want to achieve such an at-one-ment? Will it do me any good? Is there any point to it?

There are people in this world who are known as Mystics because of the mystical experiencesthey have had and there are far too many of these people, some in far-flung places, to dismisstheir experiences as hallucinations as they all take the same form.

The stillness descends and the Mystic is embraced by a power of indescribable love andcompassion; he enters into a state of ecstasy and in that moment he becomes at one with alllife; there is no longer any separation; all is one and he is one; there is no time for he is alltime; there is no space for he is all space; there is no knowing for he is all knowledge.

Page 22: The Elysium Psychic SchoolThe Elysium Psychic School This document may be subject to copyright. Deemed only for personal use as part of the lessons and classes at the Elysium Online

PSYCHICS & MEDIUMS NETWORK

www.psychics.co.uk

He becomes aware of everything in those moments of ecstasy, especially his own relationshipwith the power of incomprehensible, omnipotent Love for he is All Love.

All the mystics relate the same experience, if they do talk about it, as it is a very powerfulexperience, very emotional and life transforming and I am sure some hold the experienceclose to their hearts as the experience is too precious to share with anyone. It is an at-one-ment with God and not for sharing with others

There is also the difficulty of expressing such an experience in adequate words so others canunderstand it and how it affects them.

God does not play favourites, and even if only one person had a mystical experience then thatsame experience is there for all of us, even though we may perceive it, or react to it,differently to others.

The magic of life is that we are all beautiful unique beings.

So how can we have such an experience. Do we just sit quiet and wait for it to happen?

I actually think it takesa little more than that; That’s like wanting to go to University before we have attended Kindergarten.

I am sure our journey of unity starts at the beginning by becoming at one with self. By usingmeditation properly and moving into the quiet to discover self; to find the essence of our verybeing; to find the glorious spirit that is within and not try to use meditation to link with thespirit without.

Meditation is a very precious and sacred discipline and should be used correctly. When westart examining self we can become very critical and that’s not the purpose of meditation or self-illumination; it is to realise who we are; perhaps look at what we consider to be mistakesbut we must not judge them as we don’t always know the final outcome of them.

When we are told Judge not that ye might not be judged that means don’t judge yourself as well as don’t judge others. Be kind to yourself; love yourself in order that you will then be able to love others; don’t go looking for your strengths and weaknesses for you don’t have any weaknesses, just varying degrees of strength.

It is a time to start looking at self, at others and at life itself with a more positive attitude.Once you have discovered that positive attitude then it must be applied into your life; there isno point in being positive when meditating and then reverting to being a pessimisticdepressive when you have brought yourself back to your normal state of awareness.

My personal philosophy in life is to look for Joy in every moment; sometimes, of course, thisis not always possible, but when it is, this philosophy helps me with those difficult moments. So we are now self-contained, happy, positive people and have moved up a rung of ourjourney’s ladder.

After becoming at one with self, we must then become at one with others and that can bedifficult.

Some people don’t endear themselves to us by their words and actions but that will never give us the right to hurt them. We hurt enough people unintentionally in life without trying to hurtsomeone deliberately, with malice aforethought.

We are unique individuals but we have so much in common with each other; we live, we love,we work, we have accidents, illnesses and bereavement; some become the victims of man’s inhumanity to man and we all have experiences, some which we welcome and some whichwe wish we had not had to endure.

It is the same for all of us, no man’s grass is any greener than anyone else’s; they are just different shades of green.

So we have to learn to look for the good in everyone, or the God in everyone, even the peoplewho don’t always act as though they have the same Divine parentage as everyone else.Once we can do this we will find that our circle of friends just grows and grows as peoplebegin to trust us and know that we will not act spitefully towards them or try to underminethem in any way.

A few years ago I was rushed into hospital while down at Stansted Hall which is about 250miles from my home. I didn’t let my family know as I knew I would soon be stabilised and sent out but of course no family could then visit me and I really felt lost and alone : 250 milesfrom my family.

After 3 days I went back to the Hall and all the students had been told to watch that I didn’t carry anything heavy, that I didn’t try and climb the stairs etc. so I was shadowed, everywhereI turned there were students watching over me.

Then, to my amazement, one after another, every single person who worked at the Hall, thegardeners, the chef, the kitchen and bedroom staff, the office staff, reception and GeneralManager went out of their way to come and find me, give me a cuddle and enquire after mywellbeing.

I actual wept for being so stupid and worrying that my family was 250 miles away, when myfamily was all around me; I cannot be where my family is not.

therefore know that achieving an at-one-ment with others is possible and I also know it has tobe achieved before we can even begin to start becoming at one with the All.

So we are at one with self; with others living on this earth so the next step must be achievinga closeness with those people living in spirit. This does not mean only mediums can do thisfor we are all spirit; the whole thrust of the teachings of Spirit and of Spiritualism is that weare spirit first and foremost and we are spirit whether we live in this world or the next; allworlds are one in any case, just at differing rates of vibration.

This must be the easiest step of all for all we have to do is send out our loving thoughts tothose in spirit who will receive those thoughts and return them; so we have this rainbow ofloving thoughts bridging their world and ours.

Some people may never achieve the awareness of spirit for which they are looking butsometimes we are looking in the wrong places; how often have you felt as though a featherhas caressed your cheek; how often have you felt a rush of warmth infuse your body; howoften do you feel someone is behind you? I am not saying that every time you experience oneof these things it is caused by spirit, it may not be.

On the other hand, however, sometimes it might be a loved one utilising the availableenergies to draw very close to you and embrace you with their love. So don’t wait until you

find a medium to say hello to your Dad for you –send out your own thoughts and say ‘Hi Dad, its me and I still love you so very much.’

Now I think we are ready to sit for God; to enter the silence and find the stillness. I am nottalking about sitting still. I am talking about going beyond the silence and entering thestillness and going into the void wherein lies everything; moving our consciousness awayfrom an awareness of this life and all other types of awareness and it is not something that canbe manufactured; it will happen; maybe out of the blue for it is usually unexpected and whenit does, your soul will have wings and you will fly.

The experience is there for everyone and my earnest prayer is that each one of you, if youhave not already had such an experience, will move into that state of ecstatic bliss and Knowyour God, even if it only be once in this lifetime; that once will be remembered for all eternityjust as you will truly become aware of your own immortality and your own DivineInheritance.

“Come to the edge he said, but they were afraidCome to the edge he said, they did, he pushed themAnd they flew”

Be still and Know that I am God!

October 2003 Philosophy(Vi Kipling)

There is a beautiful book written by Og Mandino called The Greatest Miracle. In this bookthere is a ‘Memorandum’ from God which is given to each one of us at birth; we are of course speaking metaphorically or symbolically and Og (evidently short for Augustus) describesexactly what he feels is in this Memorandum.

He then goes on to ask that we read it every night for 100 nights before going to sleep in orderfor it not just to become entrenched in our minds, but to become part of our very being. Sowhat is in the Memorandum?

I do not want to tell you too much and spoil the book for you but it points out to us themechanics of the human form; how many miraculous moving parts there are and how themajority of them can repair themselves when necessary; it tells how much more God hasgiven to us than the rest of nature– ‘you can sing and dance, the trees can not.’

It tells how we are given choices, something which he did not give to His angels. Andcontinues to tell us just how unique we are as individuals and how we must never try to besomeone else as we are so incredibly beautiful as we are; that we should embrace our ownindividuality in order to develop our spirituality and thereby gain a greater understanding ofself so that we can then use that knowledge to help others on their own journeys of selfdiscovery.

God asks that we revel in our uniqueness, that we glory in our Godliness and concludes bysaying: ‘You (mankind) are my greatest miracle!’ A truly inspiring book.

This book confirmed for me my own philosophy and I am sure it will do the same for many ofyou. I am more important, more precious than I will allow myself to believe; I have to be for Iam an immortal–that is the beginning and the end of it. No one can gainsay this truth. I amimmortal, you are immortal, he is immortal, she is immortal–sounds like conjugating Latinverbs.

Once we know who we really are then our lives become enhanced; magic shines right throughthem and every day is an enchanted day with so many wonders waiting to unfold within eachone of them.

Because we are so unique, and because we have realised our own immortality; this does notgive us the right to impose our discoveries and visions of the truth upon others in order thatthey too become aware of what truly beautiful immortals they are.

When Buddha sat under the Bo tree for so many days and nights trying to gain an insight intohimself and into life, the day came when, as far as he was concerned, the light was switchedon and he became enlightened. What a truly awesome, wondrous moment that must havebeen!

He then abandoned his position in life as a Prince and tried to get his message across to theworld that enlightenment was possible for everyone. I am not sure that he ever told anyonewho was interested in his teachings that only his way was the right way and would bringabout such enlightenment.

He taught the 4 Great Truths and the Sacred eight-fold path. He felt that if people could bringthese teachings into their lives it would help them in their search for knowledge, understanding and truth. Strangely enough, many people have realised their own spiritualpotential without having any knowledge of Buddha’s teachings, or those of Jesus or any other great Spiritual Teacher.

This fact alone tells us that there are more ways to God than those written in any Holy Bookand that there are many ways to achieve self-illumination and that no one particular personhas the right way, or the only way. We can only share with each other things which haveworked for us and hope that they will help others.

There have been many people who have been sainted over the years that mankind has beenaround on this planet; these people have been recognised as truly spiritual people and havebeen sainted, after their deaths and after attestations to the performance of miracles by themhave been investigated.

I am sure that many of these ‘saints’ now living in the spirit world, are smiling at the very idea of being thought of as saints as I am certain that not one single one of them would everhave envisioned themselves as such.

The majority of them would have been too busy living their lives in the service of others, nomatter what that service may have required of them, to worry about being saints, or indeed, even being spiritual; their love of mankind was always uppermost in their minds. Also, making a person a saint places a great responsibility upon them.

I do not wish to upset anyone but I have to say that my experience of people who talk aboutbeing spiritual and spirituality are all talk and no substance; while those I consider to be trulyspiritual are those who don’t talk, they just do; they are sensitive to their brothers’ needs and they battle for them; they give them support when they need it; and if they need floorswashing then they will wash floors.

There is a true story which is contained in ‘Life in the World Unseen’ written by AnthonyBorgia. In this book it tells of how all the people on one particular level in the spirit worldwere told that a great soul was ready to pass. Thousands of them congregated at the pointwhere this soul was to enter the spirit realms and waited with bated breath.

This soul was also to be greeted by one of the Higher Minds of Spirit who was there in all hisglorious radiance, wearing beautiful spirit robes.

The time came and through the mists came shuffling this little insignificant man who wasabsolutely agog at all the people waiting to see him and when he saw this great soul hethought it was Jesus and fell at his feet in adoration.

The beautiful soul lifted him to his feet and embraced him warmly and told him that everyonethere had come to meet him. To say that this little fella was dumbstruck is an understatementand he kept asking Why? Why me?

He was then told Why. Because you clothed the naked, you fed the starving and lovedeveryone as a brother. He could not understand what this soul was talking about.

Evidently this little man was a Workhouse Superintendent and when anyone was leaving whodid not have a decent pair of shoes or a warm coat he would give him clothes out of his owncupboard and he had very little; if a tramp came to the workhouse looking for food, he gavehim food from his own table and never thought anything about it.

In fact he thought everyone did things like that for each other.

He was told that No they didn’t and all these people had come to pay their respects to himbecause of the service he had given his brothers while on earth.

So it really does not matter if the world does not see all the good that you do for others; itdoes not really matter if the world does not know the many hours of labour, love and sacrificeyou have given, when asked, to others; it does not really matter how many times you havebeen used as a doormat and walked upon because you are a sucker when it comes toresponding to a cry for help.

It does not really matter if the world does not know because God knows! Those in Spiritknow; those who care about you and also those who care about the people you help, know!

Not everyone can be as active as others in their service to mankind due to physical health anddisabilities but do not ever forgot that thoughts are living things and used positively can be atremendous power for good.

We must also always remember that people cannot be of service unless there are people whoneed that service so sometimes we have to be as gracious in the receiving as we ever were inthe giving.

The point in all my ‘spouting’ is just to say to you:

Please do not get bogged down in what is spiritual and what is not; whether or not you areenlightened to my mind is totally irrelevant. Just be your beautiful selves and do the best thatyou can; find your own pathway; make your own mistakes but try not to get too disheartenedand despondent and just know that you are of God.

You are already light; you are already love; you are part of all the Universal Laws and youwill transcend mortality on your eternal journey.

November 2003 Philosophy(Vi Kipling)

I would like us to think about what this site, and others like it are doing. I should also add thatmediums worldwide and Spiritualist Churches and Centres are also working along the samelines.

So what are we actually doing. The short answer is The Impossible! The majority of thepeople living on this planet are of the opinion that not only is communication between the twoworlds of existence, impossible, but they are also adamant that no two such states of beingexist.

I believe, which is not an expression I like to use, I prefer to know rather than believe but inthis case I believe that the majority of these unaware people, would like to think, know or

even just believe that there is life after death, but until they can establish this for themselvesor be told by their priests and/or mentors, then they will not allow themselves to think along

these lines.

The biggest problem with spirit, spirit communication and the spirit world is that it is nonvisible and people who claim they need to be able to see it with their own eyes, cannot do so.Because of this, they cannot accept the existence of such, notwithstanding the fact they cannot

see the wind, oxygen, energy or the many other invisible forces which exist in the physicalworld.

It is possible, however, for them to feel, or see, the results of these forces and they can alsofeel the result of spirit awareness if they would allow themselves to be open to its powerbecause they would then be opening themselves to their own spirit power and their own

indwelling spirit.

So there are a few of us, although I do think the numbers are increasing daily, who are awareof our own inner spirits, are aware of spirit living in the spirit world and are also aware of ourrelationship with the Divine Spirit. What I am finding, however, is that all too soon the magicis lost. We are actually doing what the majority of the world says is impossible but we aredoing it!That in itself is awesome! But far too often we become so blasé and just take it for granted. We are spirit and communicating with spirit is a natural process, it is not supernatural and alltoo soon it becomes commonplace.

Once, or if, we ever start thinking in this manner, we are losing the enchantment of lifebecause by our very knowledge of spirit, we are living an eternal life and that fact alone ismagical. It lights up our lives like Dorothy stepping from her black and white existence inKansas into the Technicolor land of Oz.

We must never, ever, lose our enthusiasm and excitement and become so inured to the beautyof spirit and spirit teachings that we start losing the purpose of spirit contact.

It is not sufficient that you and I are now aware of spirit and our lives have been transformed. To be satisfied with that would be very selfish.

We now have a responsibility to the majority of our brothers and sisters who are denyingthemselves knowledge of spirit truths or who are allowing other people to do this to them. Wenow have to find a way to get the messages of spirit across to these people.

There is a story about the Buddha walking down the road just after he had receivedenlightenment; he was absolutely glowing. A man on the road asked him if he was a King towhich the Buddha answered No; then you must be a Priest or a very Holy Man, again theanswer was No. Frustrated the man asked: So what are you? and the reply was: I am awake.

This is what we are aiming for, not just awareness, we can be aware of numerous things, especially in relation to our own spirit and our spiritual work but it is not until we becometruly awake as to who we are; why we are; what our purpose is; what our relationship is toevery other person who ever lived, lives or will live and what our relationship to that energyof Life that we call God is, can we truly realise and say: At last I too am awake.

When we are asleep it’s ok to live in a dream world, drifting aimlessly, but now we are awake and have to accept the inherent responsibilities incumbent with such an awakening. No moreexcuses for our behaviour; no more saying but I am only human because we are not. We arespirit!

The only way we can help others to awaken and realise their own inner Godlike potential is tobe a reflection of that God light in this world, we do not have to wait until we pass into spiritto allow the God within us to manifest. We must be living reflections of the truths of Spiritwhich are: there is no death; there is communication between the two worlds of existence andthat each one of us carries the essence of God within us and have, therefore, all the qualitiesof the Divine.

We cannot go round knocking on doors and asking people if they realise who they are, wedon’t have the right to interfere in other people’s lives; we should just concentrate on living our own lives as spiritual beings who have awakened to their own spiritual knowledge andinner Divinity.

We don’t have to be sanctimonious or pious, those kind of people are a pain in the neck; we don’t have to try and love everyone, that is impossible. What we have to do is love the Divinity that we know is within them and try never to hurt them.

Being a spiritual person is actually allowing yourself to be yourself; a gentle, caring, compassionate person who realises that all the world is your family, not just those youbrought into the world or who were responsible for your arrival here. A spiritual person isalso a very, very happy person who doesn’t allow the silliness of life or people to touch him.

The greatest spiritual energy that I am aware of is that generated by pure happy laughter sodon’t deny yourself the right to be happy it is part of your Divine Inheritance.

So lets always remember to keep our enthusiasm and excitement in all our work for spirit andalso in our lives; we can infect others with such enthusiasm. Let us always live by the truthsof Spirit. We don’t have to preach Spirit; we don’t have to teach Spirit, we just have to be Spirit.

December 2003 Philosophy(Vi Kipling)

At the beginning of November. I was alone in the house and after about an hour of slavingover a hot computer, there was a sound which looks like phzzzzzzt and everything in and

outside the house switched off - total and absolute blackness.

A Blackout! I remember saying oh dearie me, or words to that effect while I started fumblingaround looking for a match to light a candle. Eventually I found one, lit the candle and what a

difference that tiny little light made in my darkness.

Every person is spirit; the evidence supplied in a spirit contact emphasises this fact. If thosepeople now dwelling in the spirit world can communicate with us living on earth, via the

auspices of a medium, then it therefore follows that we too, will enjoy eternal life.

This fact makes us realise then that our physical body is only temporary and that our spiritbody, or body of light, is our real body and will be as solid to us, and everyone else in the

spirit world, as our physical body is to everyone here on earth.

It has been recorded in Spiritualist literature, that people in spirit are no longer able to see ourphysical bodies; they have left theirs and are now dwelling in another dimension.

What they can see, evidently, is the light of our spirit which shines from each one of us like alighthouse illuminating our world which tends to get so bogged down in a morass of

materialism.

The radiance, intensity, and luminosity of our lights depend upon how much of our innerspirits we are allowing expression in our physical world. If we keep our beautiful spirits

buried so deep within us because we are frightened to allow others to see us as we really are, then our lights will be very dim indeed.

If, however, we allow the qualities of the spirit to manifest in all their glory and radiance, thenwe have the ability to dazzle and uplift people with the incandescence of our spirit.

The qualities of the spirit are inherent within us all and are not given to just a few. Tolerance, patience, understanding compassion, love are all gifts of the spirit and we all have them inabundance. You may tell me that you have no patience; you have very little tolerance with

some people so therefore you do not have these qualities in abundance.

Page 30: The Elysium Psychic SchoolThe Elysium Psychic School This document may be subject to copyright. Deemed only for personal use as part of the lessons and classes at the Elysium Online

PSYCHICS & MEDIUMS NETWORK

www.psychics.co.uk

I contend that Yes You Do! You are just now allowing them to manifest as they should. Ihave told you before thatGod doesn’t play favourites. We are all spirit therefore we have 100 percent of all qualities of the spirit, it cannot be otherwise. The fact that we are not expressing

them all to their full potential does not mean we are lacking in any respect in any quality.

We allow the pains and the hurts we experience on earth to shut ourselves off; to keepourselves to ourselves; or to get bitter and then we hurt people.

God is Love; we are created by God, therefore it follows that we are Love. We are the mostincredibly beautiful perfect beings because quite frankly, God doesn’t make rubbish!

So we have to find away to put to one side the sufferings and the hurt together with thebewilderment and frustrations and realise we did not experience all these things at the handsof God and every time we curtail our light for whatever reason we are demeaning the GodLove that is within us; we cannot decrease that Love, but we can prevent it manifesting on

earth in its glorious magnificence which is our purpose on earth.

We are of God; God gave us eternal life, so we should be living life; living life to the full andin that living, allowing the spirit light, the God Love, call it what you will, to express itself in

service to others and in spite of others.

At Christmas time there is such an infusion of love within our world; it seems that everybodyjust opens up their hearts and allows the God Love to stream from them and our world

becomes like one of those silver balls which hang in a dance hall radiating light from everyfacet as it turns in the darkness.

The love on earth is tangible; you can practically reach out your hand and touch it. And thatmy friends is, in my opinion, what the work of this site is all about.

The tiny flame on my candle made a big difference in my darkened room and it thereforefollows that no matter what size of light I am, allowing my spirit to manifest, that light can,

and will, make a difference whenever and wherever there is a need.

When I first became aware of spirit, I was surrounded by so many people who couldn’t understand, or didn’t wish to understand the implications of spiritual awareness and I felt like

a voice crying in the wilderness, wanting to tell the world of the truths I had found, but themajority of the world wasn’t interested.

Then, to my joy, I made contact, in so many different ways, with such a lot of people, frommany countries, who felt exactly the same as I did and we actually found there was a networkof people, each of us in our own small corners, letting our little lights shine and, between us,

creating a beacon of light so powerful we have to be touching many, many minds.Everyone who comes on to this site is now adding his or her light, I prefer the words spiritual

power, to that beacon which grows more and more intense with every day that passes.

So don’t feel you cannot make a difference; that you are not important; that your flame is so tiny it will get lost in the darkness of ignorance and fear. Allow your spirit to glory in its

radiance.

Just know that you are part of a spiritual brotherhood and that we are all working within thelimits of our own individual understanding to bring about a better world for those souls who

will follow us.
