The Eiffel Tower The Eiffel tower is found in Paris, France. It was constructed in 1887-1889. The Eiffel tower was named after the engineer Gustave Eiffel who designed it with co-architects Emile Nouguier, Maurice Koechlin and Stephen Sauvestre. Since its construction in 1889 more than 200 000 000 people have visited it, making it the most visited monument in the world. When it was built it was the tallest building in the world but lost its title in 1930 when the Chrysler Building was constructed in New York. The Eiffel tower is 324m tall including the spire. For this to be equivalent to the height of a building, the building would need to have 81 levels. The Eiffel Tower was built for the celebration of the end of the French Revolution. Its frame structure was constructed completely out of metal and 50 000kg of paint is used every seventh year to maintain the structure and it ways around 10 000 000kg. This way of constructing (frame structures) is one of the most economical ways of building bridges and structures.

The Triangulation Technique:Triangulation is a technique used in frame structures that provides the different parts of the structure with strength and support. When a force is applied to a triangulated frame, two of its members stretch the third one (make it experience tension). This pulls the other two members towards it, making the structure rigid and spreading the load/force between all three members of the triangle.
