Please consider how you
might be able to help us
execute a successful

groups). This will be our
only time to meet as a

let us know if you for
some reason will not be
able to attend.
We also will be posting
donation requests to help
us with our list of needs

The Edifier
Kids Only There was a day when Sat-
urday morning cartoons
were a reality for some of
us. One of the staple com-
mercials you could count on
was that silly rabbit trying to
get a bowl of Trix, which
always ended with the chil-
dren chiding the rabbit and
saying, “Silly Rabbit, Trix are
for kids.” I fear that when it
comes to thinking about
Vacation Bible School,
many in the church have
that same feeling. We hear
about ministry opportunities
and say to ourselves, “VBS
is for kids.” And, while it
may be true that much of
the energy is directed to
serving children, I’m hoping
to show today that VBS isn’t
just for kids. There’s much
benefit to be had by the
church at large through
VBS. Here’s some reasons:
1) VBS helps bring people
together in service. Most of
us know that the law can be
summed up as loving our
neighbor as ourselves. We
know that we are to,
through love, serve one
another. And, VBS is a
great opportunity to come
together with other like-
minded believers and
serve. This, in turn, helps
build the unity of our con-
gregation.
When you are
“in the trench-
es” with an-
other believer
seeking to
serve, you will
begin to be drawn close to
that individual. This is what
makes the church strong.
2) VBS builds consistency in
your relationships with oth-
ers. VBS is a week-long
event. So, rather than just
bumping into others in our
church on a Sunday, you
get the opportunity to fel-
lowship with others day
after day. Each night will
present its own opportuni-
ties to glorify God and your
consistent involvement in
this will encourage you spir-
itually.
3) VBS looks outward.
Much of our difficulty in the
church comes when we are
inward focused. We can
become so intent on what
we want and we would like
to see happen, that our joy
becomes tied to whether or
not our desires are happen-
ing. Each year, however,
VBS is a call to remind you
that church life doesn’t
revolve around you. There
are others who need
served. Specifically, we get
the opportunity to serve
children.
4) VBS communicates love
for our neighbors who are
younger than us. When you
think about church life, you
probably devote most of
your energy to things that
don’t involve children
(unless you’re a parent of a
child and/or involved in an
ongoing ministry to them).
What I love about VBS is
that it gives adults and
teenagers the opportunity
to show children how dearly
loved they are. We rightly
feel this in our hearts. But,
VBS puts feet to those feel-
ings, showing children that
we are excited to make
known eternal truths to
them. VBS allows us to
tangibly love not just in
words but in actions and
truth.
Finally, 5) VBS allows you to
practice a spiritual gift.
Most of us know the im-
portance of exercise or at
least moving around so that
atrophy doesn’t occur. God
has uniquely gifted every
believer in the church to
serve. How often do you
use those gifts? Are you
looking for an opportunity
to use a gift you don’t use
as often as another? VBS
is a great way to jump in
and serve, employing your
spiritual gift for the good of
others.
So, those are a few reasons
why I would encourage you
to be involved in our VBS,
June 10-14. There is more
info on it in other parts of
the Edifier. VBS isn’t just
for kids, it’s for people like
you and me who want to be
a part of something that
glorifies and enjoys God,
forever.
Joining with you to that
end...

Isn’t this a GREAT picture? You
can see it online at http://
t4g.org/t4g-year/2012/ What a
perfect way to visualize what the
word “together” means. This is
one mighty Gospel team and
some of our Crestview men got
to experience being a part of
their efforts April 9-12 at the To-
gether For The Gospel Confer-
ence (T4G) in Louisville, KY.
The conference, held in the larg-
est arena in Louisville was at-
tended by thousands of men
who seek to stand together for
the same gospel. The first con-
ference was held in 2006 and
has been held every two years
Matt Lansdowne, Adam Swisher,
TJ Warren and Luke Thompson.
One speaker that stuck out to
many at the conference was pre-
sented by Dr. David Platt, a 33
year old pastor in Alabama who
gave a dynamic session titled
“Divine Sovereignty: The Fuel of
Death Defying Missions”. Argua-
bly the best sermons on mis-
sions ever, you can listen to its
entirety at the website above.
T4G is offering ESV Bibles at
40% off beginning May 6-July 1.

since, and here’s why.
T4G is convinced that the gospel
of Jesus Christ has been misrep-
resented, misunderstood and
marginalized in many Churches
and among those who proclaim
the name of Christ. The goal is
to reaffirm this central doctrine
of the Christian faith and to en-
courage local Churches to do the
same.
Multi-denominational and burst-
ing at the seams with a love for
Jesus, this arena was a powerful
place to be. Our Crestview gos-
pel team included Pastor Phil,
Bob Guthrie, Conor Eastman,
comforting to know that I will
always have your support, even
while away at college. Thanks
again for caring for me!
God Bless!

that love in your kindness.
Thank you very much.

Forever: Why You
Can’t Live Without It
By Paul Tripp
Adult Sunday School
Sunday, May 6
9:00-10:00 AM
It’s time for new Adult
Sunday School classes
to begin!
Dale Wilson will be
teaching the Book of
James in the library.
Benjamin Oard will be
leading Paul Tripp’s For-
ever Series in the multi-
media classroom down-
stairs. Each session will
include a video segment
of Paul Tripp from a live
conference followed by
class discussion.
The Bible assures us
that God has placed
eternity in our hearts. It
tells us we are created
for pleasure, wired for
joy—all with God at the
center. But in a world
that is broken and suf-
fering, it’s easy to forget
this, living instead with
a pack-it-all-in mentality,
loading up the here and
now with expectations
that will only be fulfilled
in eternity. Fortunately
we don’t have to live
frustrating, disappoint-
ing lives. Instead, we
can take heart, realizing
that life doesn’t feel
right because it isn’t
right. It’s not meant to
be—not yet anyway. Paul
Tripp points out that
having an eternity per-
spective will enable us
to live for something
bigger than ourselves
and larger than this mo-
ment. No longer trapped
in the shrunken king-
dom of “right here, right
now,” we will be able to
lead lives of greater sig-
nificance and peace.
Through stories, exam-
ples, and biblical teach-
ing, Tripp rehabilitates
the notion of an after-
life, not as some vague,
ethereal place in which
we will someday reside,
but as a living, robust
reality that Scripture
promises.
Women’s Bible Study
Wednesday, June 6
PM
Crestview Women will
begin their Summer Bi-
ble Study on Wednes-
day, June 6. There will
be seven sessions on
Wednesday evenings,
ending August 1st.
Each session will be a
video from the True
Woman Conferences
held in 2010.
The True Woman Con-
ference began in 2008
and in four short years,
more than 20,000 wom-
en have attended the
True Woman national
women's conferences,
and have left energized
and equipped to encour-
age women in their own
spheres of influence to:
Discover and em-
brace God's design
and mission for their
lives
Reflect the beauty
and heart of Jesus
Christ to their world
Intentionally pass
on the baton of
Truth to the next
generation
Pray earnestly for
an outpouring of
God's Spirit in their
families, churches,
nation, and world
We’re excited to be able
to show you these mes-
sages featuring many
different leaders of faith
including Nancy Leigh
DeMoss, Mary Kassian
and Karen Loritts.
