BIG DATA ANALYTICS IN ASSOCIATION WITH IBM

Big Data Analytics is the use of advanced

analytic techniques against very large, diverse

data sets that include structured/ unstructured

and streaming/batch, and different sizes from

terabytes to zettabytes. Analyzing big data allows

analysts, researchers, and business users to

make better and faster decisions using data that

was previously inaccessible or unusable. Using

advanced analytics techniques such as Text

Analytics, Machine Learning, Predictive Analytics,

Data Mining, Statistics, and Natural Language

Processing, businesses can now analyze

previously untapped data sources independent

or together with their existing enterprise data to

gain new insights resulting in significantly better

and faster decisions.

CLOUD COMPUTING IN ASSOCIATION WITH IBM

Cloud Computing, often referred to as simply “The

Cloud,” is the delivery of on-demand computing

resources, everything from applications to data

centers, over the internet on a pay-for-use basis.

• Elastic Resources- Scale up or down quickly

and easily to meet demand.

INFORMATION SECURITY IN ASSOCIATION WITH

IBM

Information Security deals with enforcement of

policies in order to protect the confidentiality,

integrity and availability of computer system data

from those with malicious intentions. IT security

specialists are almost always found in any major

enterprise/ establishment due to the nature and

value of the data within larger businesses. They

are responsible for keeping all of the technology

within the company secure from malicious cyber-

attacks that often attempt to breach into critical

private information or gain control of the internal

systems.

INTERNET OF THINGS IN ASSOCIATION WITH IBM

The Internet of Things is now a reality due to the

convergence of several technologies, including

wireless communications, micro-electrical

systems and of course, the Internet. A “thing” is

any object with embedded electronics that can

transfer data over a network-without any human

interaction. As almost everything starting from cars

to crops to conveyor belts, becomes connected,

IoT is changing the way businesses operate. By

combining IoT data with cognitive computing,

businesses can extract valuable insights to

improve virtually every aspect of their operations

and enable innovative, new business models.

Mechanical Engineering is one of the oldest

engineering which started since men innovated

tools for hunting. Now-a-days, Mechanical

Engineering does not mean working with sledge

hammer and chisels to shape a piece of material.

With large scale automation and breakthrough

in computer science all processing can be

done by automated machines with computer

interface and a mechanical engineer will be

required to design, develop, and coordinate

various activities and operations, sitting before a

computer. A large number of women have opted

for Mechanical Engineering in India and abroad.

This can be verified by Google search in which

gallery of women in mechanical engineering

is available. Now-a-days, it is the brain, and not

PROJECT BASED LEARNING

Educators worldwide have long advocated revising

the approach to Engineering Education in order

to avoid emphasis on simply transferring factual

knowledge from teacher to student. Instead, new

information can be better understood, retained,

and applied if the learning experience is based on

situations resembling real life, so students can learn

by recalling and building on previous knowledge

through projects and research methodology

BENEFITS OF PROJECT BASED LEARNING

PBL promotes self-motivation and self-responsibility

to learn

PBL facilitates more enjoyable and more effective

learning

PBL encourages learning from experience, allowing

students to use and organise what has been learnt

to understand problems

PBL integrates knowledge with practice

PBL nurtures the ability to analyse problems and to

identify and acquire knowledge and skills needed

to deal with real-life situations

PBL develops teamwork and communication skills

PBL trains students to be reflective and assess their

own and others’ work

PBL cultivates independence, curiosity, and skills

for self-directed, life-long learning

1. Many government Institutes and Indian

Industries have focused on nanomaterials.

It is also estimated that this interdisciplinary

science based technology will create another

five million jobs worldwide in support fields and
