Another week and another group of fantastic kids. With such well behaved students each week,

teachers have a hard time picking just one! Thank you Northwoods Eagles for SOARing High this

Partnership Coordinator’s Corner

Soaring High Club

Hello Families! We have a lot happening at Northwoods the next two weeks! As I wrote the calendar, I had

to squish things a bit to fit it all in! With all that is happening, the PTO can sure use your help for upcoming

events. If you want to help out at the Halloween Party, email the PTO at [email protected] . The

Halloween Party is a great way to have some fun with your children here at the school. Help would also be

appreciated at the Book Fair, and plenty of spots are available with Christmas in the Northwoods. Please

see the PTO section of the newsletter for more information on how to participate.

Also coming up, the food drive as well as is the birthday celebration for our school. Information on all that

is mentioned in this note and more is detailed throughout The Wire. Have a great weekend!

Happy Birthday to Us! Northwoods has reached a milestone birthday this year, 25!! Please join us for a celebration with cake and refreshments on October 22nd from 4:30 to 6:00 at Northwoods. Feel free to dress in your favorite Northwoods gear, or green and blue to show your school spirit.

A Walk in the Northwoods... Our annual “Walk in the Northwoods” is next week, October 16th.

We will once again be joined by athletes from several University of

Eau Claire teams. We hope to see as many family member as can

make it to this “extended recess”. Wednesday,

October 16th, at 8:15 AM.

Formally known as “Stuff a

Truck”, the annual food

drive to benefit area fami-

lies is now called “ifeed”.

This program is brought to

the Eau Claire Area School

District by Rotary Interna-

tional. A flyer was sent home (green paper) with all the information

on the event. We will begin accepting donations on Monday, Octo-

ber 14th. The November 2nd date indicated at the bottom is the vol-

unteer date for sorting the donated items. If you and/or your family

is interested in volunteering, or have questions , please contact Mrs.

MAPE

Art We are making a lot of

progress on the stained glass mosaic

mural! Here is Mrs. Gilbert’s first

grade class learning how to put

pieces of glass on it. It is kind of like

making a puzzle to make sure the

pieces fit correctly and matching

colors. Every student in the school

will work on it by the end of the

year! Check it out when you are

here!

Music In the spirt of North’s homecoming week our eagles are

learning to how the Huskies show their pride in and out of the Dog

House! Kindergarten through second grade have been listening to the

Huskie fight song the past few weeks. If you bring your child(ren) to a

Huskie home game, they will be sure to recognize it when the hear it.

Third through fifth graders may even join in with singing as they have

been working on learning the lyrics and melody, Go North Huskies, Go!!

PhysEd The recess Walk/Jog program is in full step once

again at Northwoods. Our older students earn punches for laps

walked or jogged during their recess. Please encourage your child

to participate.

Coat Help

As you are likely aware, Eau Claire Firefighters Local 487 have once again taken on the task of ensuring that no child in the Eau Claire Area School District will be without a coat this year. They are determined to meet the need of over 500 forms they have received so far. The 500+ applications is the highest number they have ever been chal-lenged to fill. They will be holding various fundraisers and having benefit nights around town to help them reach their goal. Be on the alert for any upcoming restaurant nights so you may participate if you would like to. They are accepting monetary donations as well. Please contact Liz Wiechert [email protected] / 715-852-4107 for information on making a financial contribution.

There is always something happening at the L. E. Phillips Public Library. Located in the heart of downtown Eau Claire, our towns library is a great place to get lost, and a great place to find out about EVERYTHING! Please follow the link below to find out about upcoming events for our youth and families. Also on the website are details of some of the things happening at the library while the kids are out of school in October. Make a trip to this won-derful place, you won’t be sorry! https://www.ecpubliclibrary.info/kids/

Christmas in the Northwoods

Hi! My name is Jessica Klesmit. I am one of the Northwoods PTO Co-Secretaries. I have two daughters. Julia is in Mrs. Romanchuk's 1st grade class and Hannah is in 6th grade at Northstar Middle School.

I joined the PTO five years ago because I want-ed to be involved and get to know other fami-lies and staff. My favorite PTO event is Christ-mas in the Northwoods. It is so rewarding to see all the vendors and community members come to our school in November for the craft show. If you have any questions about PTO or just are wondering how to get involved, let me know! [email protected]

*Retraction… A few weeks ago, The Eagle Wire reported that Mikyle Meerza (Son of PTO co-President Katie Meerza) was a 3rd grader, he is in 4th grade!!
