Trunk or Treat Safe Fun for the Whole Family Thursday, Oct. 25 th 6:30 p.m. Trunk or treating will begin at 6:30 p.m., following the Preschool Open House. Please join the fun as the children will go from trunk to trunk in the church parking lot where adults will be waiting to admire their costumes and cheer them on. (No scary or gruesome costumes.) One More Week! Now is the time to get a jump start on holiday shopping by supporting our school through the sale of exclusive necklaces from StepS 4 SuccesS! We are asking for the support of each family to purchase one or more necklaces for this fundraising project. Each necklace is just $15 each. Please help to support our efforts! All orders are due by Monday, Oct. 29 th .

Each Wednesday an offering is collected during chapel. The second quarter offerings will be donated to the LCC Comfort Dogs. These dogs are specially trained golden retrievers who travel with their handlers to communities impacted in all manners of situations, suffering and trauma. Please keep this loving ministry in your hearts and prayers. Our first quarter offerings totaled $620.00 and will be divided between our adopted missionaries in Spain and the Dominican Republic. Thank you.

Please join us in the Fellowship Hall for a night of fun and fellowship!

Don’t know how to play Bunco? No problem! It is simple to learn and no

skill is required. You will be sorry you didn’t learn sooner because it’s just that much fun! Refreshments

will be served and there are prizes too! Tickets are $5 per person and can be purchased between church

services on Sunday mornings or in the church office. Invite your friends and family. Proceeds will go to

the Middle School 18-19 Fund.

Preschool Invitation Our preschool students (CDC3’s, 3K, 4K) will be

performing their Thanksgiving play on

Tues., Nov. 20th, following the

9:30 a.m. Chapel service.

Mark your calendars!

1st Quarter Awards Chapel

Wed., October 31st will be our First Quarter Awards Chapel. 4K-8th grade students

earning awards for the first quarter will be recognized at the 9:30 a.m Chapel service.

Parents are welcome to attend. Awards include: High Honor Roll and Honor Roll.

October is Fire Prevention Month Look. Listen. Learn. Be Aware. was the topic for this year’s fire safety essay contest sponsored by

The Town of Davie. Our students from 4th and 5th grade participated in the contest.

Nicholas Grillo (4th grade) and Keah Wright (5th grade) were the chosen winners. Congratulations!

The Davie Fire Department recently paid a visit to our campus.

The students from preschool had a fun and exciting time

learning from the firefighters.

Ms. Reitsma’s 4th – 8th grade students are reading “The Lion, the Witch, and the

Wardrobe”. In the story, Edmund succombs to the addictive confection given to him

by the White Witch. The students were given the treat of tasting the “Turkish Delight” for

themselves. (The consensus for the rosewater flavor was not so good.)

A BIG thank you to everyone who came out and supported the Book Fair last week. Our theme was Enchanted Forest: Let Your Imagination Grow. The students had fun dressing up as fairies and gnomes, while some became quite magical as unicorns! The door prize winners on Family Night were Abel Troedson (4KR) and Ryan Grillo (8th grade). They each received a $25 Scholastic Book Fair gift certificate. The winner of the guessing game was Olivia Godbey (4KR) who

guessed 700 out of 736 pieces of “unicorn food”. She received a $25 Barnes & Noble gift card. Way to go students! Winners of the coloring contest were: Jaxson Manella (3KH), Jackson Madias (3KZ), Ariana Dong (4KM), Olivia Godbey (4KR), and Frederick Fisler (8th grade). Each student received a $10 Book Fair gift certificate. Two adults were winners as well: Wendy Turpin (Preschool) and Carol Jones (Academy) each received a $10 Wendy’s gift card. Congratulations to all! A special Thank You to everyone who either decorated, helped to set-up and break-down, baked, and worked the Book Fair. You helped to make it all possible!
