Enabling Turnitin for a Dropbox Folder

If necessary, when you create a Dropbox folder in the Virtual Campus you have the ability to turn on and enable the Turnitin plagiarism checker to check every paper submitted to the folder for plagiarism using the new Turnitin integration.

IMPORTANT: Only Dropboxes created after the Spring 2017 semester, will utilize the new Turnitin integration discussed in this manual. Any Dropboxes created during or prior to that semester will continue to utilize the old Turnitin integration.

It is highly recommended that any old Dropboxes you have in your course(s) be deleted and recreated so that they will automatically utilize the new integration, since D2L is planning to discontinue support for the old Turnitin integration.

1. Click on the Turnitin tab.

2. Check the option to “Enable Turnitin for this folder”.

3. Click on the More Options in Turnitin button.

F.Y.I.: Turnitin supports the following file formats:

Microsoft Word™ (DOC and DOCX) Corel WordPerfect® HTML Adobe PostScript® Plain text (TXT) Rich Text Format (RTF) Portable Document Format (PDF) Microsoft PowerPoint (PPT, PPTX, and PPS) Hangul (HWP)

If you would like for your students to be able to submit file types other than those listed above, you will need to choose Yes, for the Allow submission of any file type option. Such files types will be checked for plagiarism where possible.

5. Choose which sources to compare submitted papers against. By default all 3 sources are selected (which is recommended).

6. Select when plagiarism reports should be generated and if resubmissions are allowed.

Generate reports immediately (resubmissions are not allowed): a report will be generated as soon as a student submits their paper; they will not be allowed to resubmit additional papers after their initial submission.

Generate reports immediately (resubmissions are allowed until due date): a report will be generated as soon as a student submits their paper; they will be allowed to resubmit additional papers after their initial submission until the assignment due date.

Generate reports on due date (resubmissions are allowed until due date): a report will be generated on the due date for the assignment; students will be allowed to resubmit additional papers after their initial submission until the assignment due date.
