ABOUT TRIM
While designing beautiful rooms for your clients, always consider using trim. Trim gives you the ability to add color, texture and variety to your creations. It adds value to your products, originality to your designs and a “Wow” factor your customers will love.
• Using multiple trim styles, all in the same colors, will add balance and harmony to your fabric selections throughout the room.
• Combine trim styles on the same product for added effect: insert brush fringe into a seam and then apply gimp or braid set in from the seam.
• Trimmings can be added to existing treatments to jazz them up. For example, try adding gimp or tassel fringe to the leading edge of draperies.

HELPFUL HINTS
• Choosing the right trim for your product is essential to the design.
◦ Fragile trims are not recommended for treatments that will see constant usage, such as bedding.
◦ A heavy weight trim, such as bullion, is not recommended on a drapery or swag made of sheer fabric. Choose a lighter weight trimming like a tassel fringe for a graceful effect.
◦ A wide, flat braid will not lay flat around the curves of a scalloped edge. Many other trim styles will be more flexible.
• Some fringes are shipped with a securing stitch across the bottom edge to minimize crushing. Remove this stitch and fluff the threads before installation.
• The ends of your trimming should always be finished off to avoid fraying over time. Stitch it into a seam, sew it down or apply adhesive to secure threads.
• Cord with lip can be used instead of welt cording on most custom products.
GIMP & BRAID
This woven trimming is narrow and flat and is used anywhere fabric banding could be used. It can be topstitched or applied with adhesive.
• Outline cornice shapes and add to shades for a decorative addition
• Hide construction seams in upholstery
• Tie loosely or swag onto any treatment for a rope like effect
• Attach it from pleat to pleat and add rosettes or key tassels over the tacking
• Lace it through a grommet top drapery and over the pole
• Hide wall upholstery seams by applying cord with adhesive
• Combine cord with a tassel to make any length tieback or embellishment
CORD
Cord, or welting, is a decorative rope with multiple threads twisted together. Tie it, tack it, or apply with adhesive.
CORD WITH LIP
This is a cord with a lip or flange attached for easy construction. The lip is inserted between fabrics and sewn into the seams for strength. The lip can also be hidden under the fabric and topstitched down.
• Insert between the face and back fabrics of a pillow or comforter before it is pillowcased for a crisp finished look
• Use on almost any custom product between the seams to add color and a distinctive edge

• Adds grandeur to drapery and swags
BULLION
This is heavy weight fringe made of multiple twisted cords hanging from a braid. Depending on the usage and style of bullion, it can be inserted, top stitched or applied with adhesive.
This decoration is a button or sometimes
a combination of a button and tassel. It is
sewn on or applied with adhesive.
• Accessorize the ends of a neck roll
• Dress up a valance or cornice
• Finishing touch to table runners
ROSETTES
The variety of fringes available is matched only
by their versatility. Fringe is used to create a soft
edge and luxurious look. Depending on the usage
and style of fringe, it can be inserted, top stitched or
applied with adhesive.
• Give pillows and throws a softer look by inserting brush fringe around the edges
• Add any fringe to swags and cascades for an elegant look
• Trim the bottom of a shade or valance with fringe for a decorative look

• Drape a swag with a chair tie at installation
• Casually tie one to the end of decorative pole
CHAIR TIES
Designed to secure a seat cushion to a chair, chair ties are now also used for other decorative effects. A chair tie consists of a narrow cord with a tassel at each end. Whip stitch the center to the cushion and tie off on the chair. The spread is the measurement from the top of one tassel to the top of the other.
• Great addition to pillow corners, throws, cornices and valances
• Easiest way to add color – simply hang one from a drawer pull, a door knob or a fan chain
KEY TASSELS
Originally designed for keys, these small tassels are used to add color and elegance. They can be sewn into custom products or tied on using the thin looped cord.
Used to hold back drapery, this is a heavy looped cord with
a beautiful large tassel in the center. The spread is measured from one end of the cord to the
other. Hang from installation hardware or tie off to itself.
