discount for early registration
for the International Conven-
tion in Seoul Korea.
Jack Mueller’s Foundation
Minute topic was the Rotary
International Scholarship and
the current scholar who is
studying at the London School
of Economics. He reminded
members of a waitress who was
working at the Dearborn Inn at
the time when Dearborn Rota-
ry met there. She became a
Rotary Scholar who studied in
Japan and has continued to have
both career and personal suc-
cesses.
Jim Mackey conducted the
50/50 raffle with Merritt draw-
ing the winning ticket. Darlene
Schoolmaster (your X-Ray
editor for today) won the
$20.00 in this perfectly honest
raffle!
Since today’s speaker was
unable to attend, President
Merritt took a few moments to
share some thoughts regarding
recently deceased Rotarian John
Fish. John was a Rotarian for
57 years and served the club in
many ways – including as Presi-
dent and the establishment of
the foundation. He exemplified
the tenants of the 4-Way Test
and kept of copy of this docu-
ment on his desk in his law
office for over 50 years. He
will be missed.
The meeting was adjourned in
the usual manner with a request
from Roger Miller for those
who are helping with the Santa
Snaps prop and decorations
moving to meet briefly.
Respectfully submitted, Darlene Schoolmaster
Thursday’s Meeting Summary
The meeting was called to
order by President Merritt with
the singing of the National An-
them.
The first agenda item was the
induction of a new club member
by Jim Perri from the Fairlane
Sunrise Club. Josh Tynan, spon-
sored by Glenn Maleyko, is now
the newest member of the Rota-
ry Club of Dearborn. In this
induction Jim highlighted the
important work that Rotary does
around the world as well as the
responsibilities of Rotary mem-
bership.
Bob Gleichauf offered today’s
invocation.
Randy Knight announced the
guests and visitors: Jim Perri
from the Fairlane Sunrise Club;
Maysam Allie-Bazzi and Shannon
Peterson, both guests of Glenn
Maleyko; Janice Gilliland, guest of
Randy Knight; and Brian LaBenne,
guest of Annette Langell. They
were welcomed in the usual man-
ner.

minded members that this is the

2015. Our club is responsible for

Neil Allen asked all present to
sign the sympathy card for the
Fish family.
Eric Rader stated that he will
continue to update and send an
electronic version of the Santa
Snaps schedule and that there are
still many slots to fill.
Sue Surducan reminded Rotarians
of the Inter Service Club luncheon
on November 18 at Park Place.
This event begins at 11:30 and
tickets are $25.00.
Ray Trudeau invited all Rotarians
to join the next scheduled trip to
Nicaragua on December 2. The
purpose of this trip is to distribute
shoe boxes containing Christmas
gifts for students. In order to
receive a gift box the students
must be in attendance at least 70%
of the time and have at least a C
average. Once again Ray reminded
those present that these trips are
life changing experiences.
Visiting Rotarian Jim Perri had 3
reminders for our members: 1.
The Kids Against Hunger collabora-
tion between Fairlane Sunrise and
Dearborn Rotary resulted in
23,000 meals for 12 local commu-
nities as well as international loca-
tions. He hopes this can become a
district regional event. 2. Fish and
Loaves Food Pantry will benefit
from the Boy Scout/Girl Scout
food drive on Saturday, November
14. Donations can be left on
porches or near mail boxes. 3.
The Fairlane Sunrise Annual Fruit
Sale flyers were distributed. Those
who want to support this effort
but don’t want the fruit for per-
sonal consumption can arrange for
it to be donated to the Salvation
Army.
Jessica Haddad reminded mem-
bers of the Comedy Night at the
Arab-American Museum on Friday
and Saturday. Rotary has a booth
at the event as well as support
from the Dearborn Rotary Foun-
dation.

A lunch meeting on November 18

Foundation Giving—Every Rotarian Every Year
Santa Snaps
President Elect Regan Ford is looking for volunteers to sign up for the Santa Snaps fundraiser. This is the club’s largest and most labor intensive event during the year. All hands need to be on deck for the success of this project. Please sign up on board at our meetings, or phone (734-755-5999) or email ([email protected]) Regan with your willingness to serve. We need to fill up this sheet as quickly as possible as at a certain point we need to open the empty spots to other clubs to ensure all nights are covered. The more we involve other clubs, the less money we make. Thank you in advance for your willingness to serve. On Wednesday, November 18, we will be decorating the set. See Roger to sign-up to volunteer.
