Popular an-chor and producer of Weekend Today in CNY Laura Hand addressed a crowd of enthusiastic fans on the benefits of pet ownership later in life. “Get In The Game -- Read” with the Summer Reading Program Teen Video Challenge 2016 Once again, area teens are invited to participate in the 2016 NYS Summer Reading Program — Teen Video Challenge at the DeWitt Community Library (DCL) beginning this January. The 2015 winners created their video as part of the DCL’s Digital Production Club’s video production workshop. Show off your creative skills and produce a 30 – 90 second video promoting Summer Reading at public libraries. Your video should include your interpretation of the 2016 Collaborative Summer Library Program teen slogan theme, “Get In The Game -- Read”. One winning video will be selected as the New York State Winner and will be viewed by teens nationwide. The winner will receive cash and other prizes. The contest is open to New York State teens aged 13 – 18, who can create their videos on their own or as part of a team. For more infor-mation about the competition and to view last year’s winners, visit the Collaborative Sum-mer Reading Programs. http://www.cslpreads.org/programs/teen-program/teen-video-challenge/

The DCL will present a program in January to go over the rules of the contest and help prepare the teens to make their videos. In the program we’ll go over the basics of video production—planning, filming, and edit-ing. We’ll also discuss free online resources for video editing software, music and sound effects. The DCL’s Digital Production Club (DPC) is present-ing this program. The DPC encourages and provides an outlet for individuals in our community to express themselves through creative endeavors. Activities in-clude: Video Production, Podcasting, Reader’s Theater, GoPro Slow-motion and Adventure/Sports activities, and more! Visit www.dewlib.org for more information.
