THE DAY OF ATONEMENT: Prophetic meaning FULFILLMENT:

"Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come:"

Revelation 14: 7

The 2300 day/year Time Prophecy of Daniel 8 and 9 wasGod's way of telling us the progress of things in the Planof Salvation and when the time of the Judgment wouldbegin. When Jesus returned to heaven after His deathand resurrection, He served as our High Priest,interceding before God and His Law. Not with the bloodof animals, as was used in the symbols here on earth, butHis own perfect life and blood of His sacrifice.

As the sinner comes inprayer before God torepent and confess hissins, Jesus presentsthose prayers to theFather covered with Hisblood that paid thepenalty of the brokenLaw and the incense ofHis perfect, sinless Life.

But at the end of the 2300days, (prophetic years) in1844, on the anti-typical Dayof Atonement, Jesus beginsthe work of 'Cleansing theHeavenly Sanctuary’. Allthrough the history of man,the sins have been recordedin the Heavenly Sanctuary.When we are forgiven, theBlood of Christ is applied tocover those sins; BUT THEYARE STILL ON THERECORDS!

"Why?" You say, "I thoughtthey just disappear? Doesn'tthe Bible say God will castthem into the depth of thesea?"Yes, but this is done AFTERthe final examining of therecords in Heaven. Becauseall our acts have continuingeffects down through theages the record of them mustbe kept until the finalreckoning. The person is notpresent at this court inperson, but the records of hislife are examined.

Sin doesn't just disappear,Someone has to pay for thatsin. In the Sanctuary service itis clear that sin doesn't justvanish. All year long the sins ofthe people were symbolicallytransferred to the Sanctuary.Then the Day of Atonementservice showed how the sinswere finally disposed of.

The 'Lord's goat' representedthe innocent Savior, whoseblood became the means toremove the sin from the peopleby paying the penalty of thebroken Law of God, for sinsconfessed, repented of andforsaken.

At the time when The HighPriest takes that blood out ofthe sanctuary, symbolicallycarrying the sins out of thesanctuary, it represents theremoval of sin’s records, andthe memory of sin, from ourminds and our hearts. TheHigh Priest would leave thesanctuary, leave the glory;the incense burner wouldcontinue to build up smoke,representing that throughoutthis period of time Jesus, isstill mediating for us.

These feasts are perfectlyfulfilled with Christ as ourPriest in the heavenlysanctuary. This indicatesthat at the end of this world'shistory; in the very time inwhich you and I live; Christ isfinishing up His work in theheavenly sanctuary. BeforeHe comes, every one of us isto co-operate with Him in thework of putting away all sinfrom our lives; bringing themto the Savior, so that in thenear future He can obliteratethose sins and our lives willremain eternally clean.

But if He ends His work, friend,while you have unconfessed andunforsaken sins still in your lifeand you have not by faith placedthem on the Lamb of God, andthat work comes to an endforever; you will bear your sinsforever. You will perish in thegreat destruction coming at theend of time. Just as those whofailed to afflict their souls andrepent of all sin in the timebefore that Great Day ofAtonement in Israel wereconsidered cut off, and no longerpart of God's people.

This is the time we live in,and this work has beengoing on in Heaven since1844! Just like those peopleback there in the time of theearthly sanctuary, today wehave to carry out a similarwork. As these peoplegathered around on this Dayof Judgment, or Day ofAtonement, they fasted andprayed.

One thing they did is took off all their jewelry, andthey dressed modestly and humbly in the presence ofGod. They believed they were coming right into God'spresence to receive their final judgment. We are inthat day today. We are living just before the coming ofChrist.Revelation chapter 14 says that John saw an angelpreaching the everlasting gospel to all them that dwellupon the earth, to return to proper worship of God, forthe hour of His Judgment is come.

Today we are to take all of ourjewelry off.Today we are to dress humblybefore God, not to gatherattention to ourselves, today weare to take the Spirit of Christinto our lives.Today we are to fast and pray.We are to live a healthful life, toeat that which is right, to keepour minds clear so we canafflict our souls, stay close toJesus, and keep our mind pure,and our words pure, just asthey did back then anciently.

I know some people areuncomfortable with it,but you cannot findanother meaning in thissanctuary service!. Thisis exactly what itrepresents. Jesus tookthose sins uponHimself. He bore them.He suffered for them.He shed His blood andpaid the penalty for thebroken Law of God.

Jesus death was not to'do away with the LAW'—that LAW is as enduringas the throne of GodHimself! Jesus was theLAW lived out in humanflesh.His BLOOD—pays thepenalty of the broken law;His Sinless LIFE—provides the Power toovercome sin by Faith inthe indwelling Christ.

What about the second goat;Azazel, the scapegoat? When thebooks are examined, each personwho has truly repented of their sinsand accepted the Savior as theironly hope, and HAVE ALLOWEDJESUS TO REMOVE SIN FROMTHEIR LIVES; co-operating withHis mighty power, placing Hisperfect life into their characters inplace of their fallen, sinful ways;then when the sins of the people ofGod are removed forever from thepeople and the Sanctuary, thosesins will be placed on the head ofthe father of sin, Satan, and he willhave to suffer for them because heis responsible for them.

Jesus died so that He wouldhave the privilege of bearingsin away from us, andtaking them and putting itback on Satan where itoriginated. It's Jesus that isour Sin Bearer and ourRedeemer; but Satan isgoing to pay eventually forall those sins that wereconfessed, because he isthe source of them.

You cannot fully understandwhat this represents unless youknow the sanctuary, and then goto Revelation chapter 20. Thereit tells about that old serpent thedevil and Satan, and amagnificent angel coming downfrom heaven, and binding Satanwith a great chain in what iscalled a bottomless pit.

This symbolizes the desolationand emptiness of this earthwhen it is destroyed when Jesusreturns and takes His people toHeaven. The wicked people willbe slain by the brightness of theLord in all His glory.

No human will be left alive on thisearth. Satan will be bound here 1,000years. bearing those sins, andlooking at the destruction he hascaused. Eventually, in the judgmentof the wicked, after the 1,000 years,he will be destroyed in the lake of firethat purifies this earth. No humanever needed to die in that lake offire—it was meant only for the devils.The Plan of Salvation is fully able tosave the worst sinner that ever lived.But multitudes will perish there; why?because they choose Satan's ways,love their sinful pleasures, and refuseto allow Jesus to save them FROMtheir sins. They will perish with theleader they chose to obey.

The high priest went backinto the sanctuary, got theblood and poured it out atthe foot of the altar. Then,when he went in and gotthat incense burner, andbrought it out of thesanctuary, from before theArk of the Covenant, intothe court, it representedthe end of mediationforever.

In Revelation chapter 8, yousee an angel with a goldengirdle and a long gown thatrepresents Jesus Christ. Heis standing before the goldenaltar, offering up incense.Then he adds fire to thatcenser, and throws it to theearth. That's a perfectrepresentation of whathappens in the sanctuary,representing the end ofprobation. John actually sawin vision Jesus endingprobation, and the terribleplagues taking place on thisearth after that happened.

Before that happens,God is going to seal Hispeople with His characterforever. He is going toblot out the memory oftheir confessed sins, andhe is going to preparethem for the hour ofsuffering that lies ahead,and then give themeternal life at His coming.All these things arerepresented in thebeautiful Day ofAtonement service.

Oh, that people would studythis subject more, so theycould understand how muchJesus means to us now aswe approach the end oftime! We need to come intoHim by faith. We need topray for the outpouring ofHis Holy Spirit that our sinsmay be blotted out and wewill be sealed by God for alleternity.

This is a wonderful privilegethat you and I have todaywith this knowledge, tocome right in boldly, throughfaith, into the Most HolyPlace, where Jesus Christ isstill interceding for sinners,claiming only the merits ofthat Great Atonement—Hissinless Life and His shedBlood.

Now, before the close of thisearth's probation, we must pleadwith Him and confess our sinsbefore Him. Confess all of them.Don't cherish any of them like someprecious keepsake. Each day makesure that your life is completely hidin Jesus Christ, and let Him live Hispure life in you. Then soon, whenHe blots out those sins, you will beleft pure for all eternity.

If you don't, Revelation tells us ofthat awful moment when God says,Let him that is filthy remain filthystill. Let him that is unrighteousremain unrighteous still, but he thatis pure, he that is righteous, let himremain righteous still.

God, at some point in time,is going to end this terriblesuffering and death in thisworld. He is going toseparate those who will notconfess or forsake sin,from those who haveconfessed their sins andallowed Jesus to removethem. Those who haveconfessed will receiveeternal life, and thoseothers will be lost forever.

Friends, don't let that hoursneak up on you. The Biblesays, He will come as a thiefin the night. I would justurge each one of you totake the time to study outthis subject.This is what the Sanctuary

service and the propheciesof the books of Daniel andRevelation are all about.Come to Jesus before it'sforever too late. Give yourlife to Him. Accept Him asyour High Priest and yourSavior.

LOOKING BACK: Thanksgiving Day

This feast; the final one in the ceremonial year; was inremembrance of the years Israel had lived in thewilderness. It was a time of rejoicing and rememberingand recounting the goodness of God to them. It wasalso when the harvest was completed and they praisedGod for their many blessings.The people built little booths of fresh tree branches inthe streets and on the rooftops and slept out in themunder the starry heavens.

This week of fellowship provided both time andopportunity for God's faithful ones to acknowledge thatall their blessings had come from the hand of theirbountiful heavenly Father. The Israelites felt joy thattheir crops were safely gathered in, the oil pressed fromolives, the grapes dried or crushed to yield theirtreasure, and the work of orchard and field completedfor another season.It was God's design that at this time the people shouldreflect on His goodness and mercy. (Deut 16:13-17).The worshipers assembled at the Sanctuary in holidaymood, prepared to present their songs of praise andtheir free-will offerings to God in love and gratitude forall His bounties (Lev 23:34-36).

forward to the time whenGod would deliver Hispeople forever, and theywould enter into the NewJerusalem, and liveforever, and ever, andever under God's care.

One day the ransomed hostswill journey across theUniverse to attend the Feast ofthe Father's Harvest Home.They will then dwell in the NewJerusalem, not in temporaryhuts of leaves tinged withdecay, but in the Father'smansions made especially forthem (John 14:1-3), rejoicing,not in the flickering light oflamps of clay with flaxen wickssoon to be consumed, but inthe serene radiance of theLamb, the eternal Light of thatplace (Rev 21:23).

And there they willdrink satisfyingdraughts, not fromthe spring ofSiloam, breakingfrom the darkbosom of theunfeeling rock, butfrom the ever-flowing river of life,eternally springingfrom the throne ofGod (Rev 22:1, 2).

There they will listen, not tomortal Levite choirs, butthe immortal songs of theredeemed "kings andpriests," gathered fromevery nation on earth, fromevery age, singing andmaking melody to God. Tothem the Father now calls,"Come, ye blessed. . . .”

We must not allow anyearthly advantage orindulgence to cause us tofail to be there on thatday!NOW is the time ofSalvation! NOW while theincense of Christ'sintercession still pleads inthe Heavenly Sanctuary.Seek Peace with God,through Christ.
