The German representative advised one of the US exhibitors that its initials might not go over too well in Germany because of a negative connotation that was coincidental. The NMMA and US Commercial Service plan to expand the Global Chat at next year’s METS. “We’ve had representatives at other trade shows,” said Felix Happe, the specialist based in Germany. “But this was more efficient for the exhibitors because it put us all into one room,” he said. “The exhibitors had time to prepare their pitches. That was valuable for us. We could understand what they’re manufacturing and that let us provide more precise help.” The US Commercial Service also prepared a report that breaks down different countries in terms of specialties of manufacturing, boat sales and market trends. NMMA is also seeking potential buyers of US- made goods at the show, said Balzano. That effort will continue with a buyer’s program for the Progressive International Miami Boat Show. “We’re recruiting 19 buyers from around the world,” said Balzano. “They’ll have appointments with NMMA members with the same goal of matching US manufacturers with non-US buyers. The Global Chat program will extend also beyond Europe and out into other export markets.” The ultimate goal WAS TO MAKE SURE THAT THE US EXHIBITORS ALL BECAME EXPORTERS METS SPECIAL ICOMIA Recreational Boating Industry Statistics Book 1/2 PRICE The New & Improved ICOMIA Recreational Industry Statistics Book is just 300 Euros for METS Exhibitors and Attendees throughout November!
