Schools are not immune from this problem. Bullying is repeated verbal, physical, social or psychological behaviour that is harmful and involves the misuse of power by an individual or group towards one or more persons. Behaviours that do not constitute bullying include: mutual arguments and disagreements (where there is no power imbalance) not liking someone or a single act of social rejection one-off acts of meanness or spite isolated incidents of aggression, intimidation or violence . However, these conflicts still need to be addressed and resolved Cyberbullying refers to bullying that is carried out through information and communication technologies. Likewise not all online issues are cyberbullying. At Belmont High School we have a clearly defined policy on anti bullying and what to do when it happens. NOTIFY VERIFY ACT FEEDBACK. Full details of the Belmont High School policy are included in the student information booklet handed out to all parents as well as being on the school website. Our message about anti bullying was reinforced recently by a visit from former Newcastle Knights players Danny Buderus and Anthony Quinn who spoke to the whole school about the National Rugby League‟s Tackle Bullying Program. This program has five strategies to deal with bullying: Stand Strong Stay Calm Respond confidently Walk Away Report To support the message on how to deal with bullying we have registered BHS to be part of the 2014 National Day of Action Against Bullying and Violence on 21 March. On this day all students will participate in lessons of how to identify and deal with bullying. Information on this day and other anti bullying strategies can be found at www.bullingnoway.gov.au

Soon it will be possible for parents to make online payments to the school for amounts owing for

students, via a secure payment page hosted by Westpac. Payments can be made using either a Visa or

MasterCard credit or debit card. The payment page is accessed from the front page of the schools

website by selecting $ Make a payment.

Items that can be paid include voluntary school contributions, subject contribution, excursions, sales to

students and creative and practical arts activities (these include band, drama and dance). There is also

a category called Other to cover items not covered in the previous headings. Other can be used to

make a complete payment of a school invoice.

When you access the $Make a payment you must enter:

The students name, and

Year OR

The students name, and

Date of birth

These details are entered each time you make a payment as student information is not held within the

payment system. There is also the option to enter the Student Registration Number and Invoice

number if you are aware of them, these are optional fields.

This is a secure payment system hosted by Westpac to ensure that your credit/debit card details are

captured in a secure manner. These details are not passed back to the school.

You have the ability to check and change any details of the payment before the payment is processed.

Receipts can be emailed and / or printed.

Details of the payments are passed daily to the school where they will be receipted against your child’s

account. As a receipt has been issued from the payment page a further receipt will not be issued by

the school.

For any enquiries regarding the Online Payment process please contact the School Administration

Office on 49 450600.

Dear Parents Parent/Teacher/Student interviews for Years 7 and 12 will be held from 2.45PM - 6.30PM on

Monday 7th

April 2014.

On-line bookings will be OPEN from Friday 21st

March

You can book interviews at times that suit YOUR FAMILY BEST. Go to www.schoolinterviews.com.au and follow these simple instructions.

BOOKINGS CLOSE on Monday 7th

April 2014 at 10am

Go to www.schoolinterviews.com.au http://www.schoolinterviews.com.au/code

Enter the adjacent school event code. Then follow the 3 simple steps below.

When you click finish, your interview timetable will be emailed to you automatically - check your junk mail folder if you do not receive your email immediately. You can return to www.schoolinterviews.com.au at any time, and change your interviews - until bookings close.

For parents that don’t have access to the internet at home, at work, at a friend’s house or on their phones, the office staff at Belmont High School will be available to offer support from Friday onwards, so that parents can still make bookings. Parents may send a note to school with the approximate times they require, or phone the school on 49450600. Students with written permission from parents may also request assistance from the office staff. Interviews are strictly 7minutes and spaces are limited. If you require more time, please contact your teacher directly to make alternative arrangements. Parents can change their interview bookings, any time prior to the closing date, by re-visiting the www.schoolinterviews.com.au website, and using the event code. Remember to use the same name and email address you used when you made your original booking. Parents wishing to change their interview times after the closing date, should contact the school directly on 49450600. We would love to hear what you think about online booking. If you get time, click on the “contact us” button on the www.schoolinterviews.com.au website, and leave some feedback - anonymously if you wish, but please include the school’s name and suburb.
