Hello and Welcome! The nights are drawing in and there’s now a chill in the air – Winter is coming!!!!! We have lots of special events that have happened in the home of late and lots more to look forward to as the festive season heads ever closer. It’s been a busy year here at The Dales, made very worthwhile by our recent CQC report which has graded us as good in every area inspected :

We have done lots of fundraising for charity

Helped local foodbanks

Prepared our beautiful home for Christmas

We are buying in all the goodies to enjoy our relaxed, warm evenings

Staff have been busy elves making sure we have everything to make our residents Christmas a special one

JUST ELFING AROUND Residents and staff had a great day on 7th December, supporting Elf for Alzheimer’s Day. The naughty Elf was upto his tricks, whilst staff and residents joined in the occasion with making Elfish cupcakes and biscuits for sale. Final amount raised is yet to be verified, thank you for supporting us with the event

CHILDREN IN NEED A big thank you to all of you that worked hard and to those who supported this cause. Our Pudsey Bear and Blushes (his girlfriend) looked amazing. We raised money by doing a duck race and guess the name of the bear, as well as selling cupcakes. We raised a grand total of £101!!!!!!!

CQC Inspection On 3rd December we were visited by our inspectors CQC. We have just received the final report and are pleased to announce that we have received a ‘GOOD’ rating in every area. This is an improvement on our last report. We will all be working very hard to ensure the service we give is innovative and excellent quality, therefore we are now working hard towards achieving outstanding

Birthday or party We have enjoyed some celebrations this year as some of our residents have hit milestone birthdays!!! We have a good few of our residents celebrating 80 and 90 years of life……………… and one of our ladies is now 100 years old and received her message from the queen as well as a birthday celebration fit for a queen.

Winter at The Dales

We have many up and coming events throughout winter including : Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years Day festivities. Please come and see us over the festive season and share a glass of good cheer. We also have an open day on 19th January, so anyone can drop in, see what we do and ask questions about the facilities and service that we deliver, this is tied in with a 1950s theme and we will be dressed to impress!! There will be various themed events and activities within the home all over the winter season. Please contact us if you wish to join in or be sent information.

New Year Come join us at The Dales for a buffet and choices of mulled wine or fizz to celebrate the New Year upon us!!! We would love to share this time with you

New Show Suite Opening

Deputy Lord Left Lieutenant of Edinburgh, Edward Green, unveiled the show suites for our newest care home, Queens Manor, which is set to open in February 2019. Assisted by Divisional Director, Fiona Moncur, and members of the Queens Manor team, Mr. Green cut the ribbon with a giant pair of scissors. The show suite was fitted out by Barchester’s team of expert interior designers, and provides an opportunity to see what the finished 60-bed care home will look like when complete. The show suite features spacious en-suite bedrooms and a lounge, as well as a large assisted bathroom, all designed with the comfort of residents in mind. Queens Manor is part of an extensive expansion programme, with a further 6 homes opening in 2019. The home will also include a café and private dining room, a cinema and activities room, concierge service, en-suite bedrooms with garden access for ground floor rooms, as well as a life enrichment programme of tailored activities, seasonal menus and an in-house hair salon.

Barchester’s CEO, Dr. Pete Calveley, was recently awarded the prestigious 'Outstanding Contribution to Care' award at the 2018 Laing Buisson Awards on 15th November. The esteemed Laing Buisson Awards, nicknamed “The Oscars of Health and Social Care”, are in their 13th year of recognising excellence. Judged completely independently and objectively, the awards focus on the people providing the care, as well as their advisors. Pete was also recognised at the 2018 Health Investor Power Fifty Awards, where he was presented with the ‘Outstanding Leader’ award. The ceremony celebrates the most effective and inspiring leaders across six key aspects of independent healthcare. A huge congratulations to Pete for these two fantastic achievements!
