Nacogdoches ISD trustees set special meeting for tonightBy PAUL [email protected]
Nacogdoches ISD trustees in executive session tonight are expected to discuss Su-perintendent Dr. Fred Hayes’ contract and job performance.
“Our board meeting on Thursday
night ran so late that we just didn’t have a chance to get to this,” board President Steve Green said. “I did not want to sit there and have a discussion on anything pertaining to that, so we decided to sched-ule an executive session. With a new board member, we are trying to feel each other out ... on where we stand.”
Pam Fitch was sworn into office on May 16. She is the only newcomer to the board of trustees this year.

Blueberry Fest to feature Tricentennial celebrationBy PAUL [email protected]
The Ford Motor Company’s In-novation Lab trailer will be fea-tured during the Texas Blueberry Festival on June 11.
“That lab is looking really cool,” said Kelly Daniel of the Nacogdo-ches County Chamber of Com-merce. “Ford only has so many that travel the nation. It’s an inter-active demonstration trailer with
Ford technicians there to explain how engines work.”
The Innovation Lab and a 2017 Ford Raptor will be parked at Re-gions Bank. The vehicle showcase is scheduled for the same parking lot.
“Also, Tipton Ford will have space at the heart of the festival in front of the visitors center for a ‘hug-a-hero’ station,” Daniel said.
