C., was given a birthday dinner in honor of his 66th birthday which was August 14. A delicious dinner was enjoyed by all and after which Mack and Coolidge Sandy, Autry Collins and Martin Scarboro en- tertained the guests with String music. Lillington Party Honors Bride And Bride-Elect Mis? Henrietta O’Quinn, Lilling- ton bride-elect, and Mrs. Mack Williams Gardner, of Angier, a re- cent bride, shared honors at the beauitifuMy appointed Coca-Cola party- on Wednesday mor- ning by Miss Belle Hockaday and two other hostesses at the Hock- aday home in Lillington. Mrs. David Blalock of Bunnlevel and Mrs. C. S. Fowler of Lilling- ton were co-hostesses at the party. Miss O'Quinn, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R. B. O’Quinn, will be married to Marvin Murray on August 26 at the Lillington Bap- tist Church. Before her marriage on August 10 in the Brookley Air Force Base Chapel at Mobile, Ala., Mrs. Gardner was Mrs' Frances Privet t of Mobile. First Lieutenant Gardner, the bridegroom, is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Mack Gardner of Angier and a nephew of Miss Hockaday and of Mrs. Blalock. He and his b: ide are on a visit to relatives in this section, and will return short- ly to Mobile where Lieutenant Gardner is based at Brookley Air Force Base. In the living room of the Hock- aday home a vase of double white altheas was used on an antique table, while an arrangement of peach gladioli was plaqed in the bay windows. Blue sage and zin- nias in various shades were used in other parts of the room. Waist corsages of white pom poms and stephanotis were pre- sented to both honorees. Miss O’- Quinn also received a gift of crys- tal and Mrs. Gardner was presen- ted a silver butter dish. Party sandwiches in the design of calla lilies and flower pots, ham biscuits, individual pastries and bridal cakes were served with cokes. Each place had a boutonniere of white flowers. Among the out-of-town guests were Mrs. Mack Gardner, mother of Lieutenant Gardner, and her Pledging their vows in the Hod- ges Chapel ,F!ree Will Baptist Church near Benson where the bride's family had worshipped for several generations. Miss Dorothy MaHe Wheeler, assistant county home demonstratldh agent of Wil- son County, and Earl Mor ri s Stubbs, assistant manager of Char- les Stores in Greensboro, were uni- ted in marriage at 5:00 o’clock Sunday afternoon, August 16. Rev. David Capps, minister of Benson, was the officiating clergy. The double ring ritual was used. A floral arch with white satin prayer bench formed the center of the wedding scene. A mass of fern and palms formed the gar- den background before which were placed two 14-branched candelabra and two 10-branched candelabra holding lighted white cathedral candles. Whit*? pedestal baskets held white mixed blooms carrying out the traditional green and white nuptial colors. Reserved «e swere maiked with candles and ribbons ¦ ‘ached to the pews. •Ms. Jarvis Bryant, pianist, -¦ssed in light blue, played an ex- ensive program of wedding music prior to the ceremony and accom- panied Miss Claudette Young, drex- . sed in pink, of Dunn, when she I sang two solos. Mrs. Reba Willenbucker of At- lanta attended her sister as ma- tron of horfir and Miss Peggy Smith, niece of the bride, of De- catur, Ga.. attended as maid of honor. Their ankle length dresses were of Heaven blue nylon net over foundations of blue taffeta. They wore net stoles and carried circular bouquets of pastel flow- ers with tulle streamers. Senior bridesmaids were Miss Ella Cashwell, college roommate of the bride, of SaxaDahaw. and Miss Mavis Boykin, apartment mate of the bride in Wilson, of Wilson. Junio- attendants were Miss Re- nee Willenbucker of Atlanta. Ga.. and Miss Jackie Frazier of Hen- derson. The bridesmaids’ dresses were like those of the honor at- tendants. Honorary bridesmaids wearing dresses in pastel shades and wrist corsages were Mrs. J. Robert Jer- nigan and Mrs. Ben C. Smith, sis- ters of the bride, Mrs. W. Ransom Whittington, sister of the groom, of Zebulon, Miss Walenah Qu.inerly of Wilson, and Miss Sally Willenbuck- er of Atlanta. Niece and namesake of the bride, little Amy Marie Willenbucker of Atlanta, was flower girl. Given in marriage by her fa- ther. A. J. Wheeler, the bride wore a gown of white organza made with fitted bodice and large puffed sleev es confined at the wrist, a 8-tiered skirt gathered full at waistline. She carried a circular bouquet of miniature white mixed flowers with a white orchia. Best man was John Stubbs, bro- ther of the bridegroom, of Rocky Mount. The ushers were W. Ran- som Whittington of Zebulon, L. B. Outlaw of Rocky Mount, Opie Fra- zier and Harold Frazier of Hender- son, nephews of the bridegroom. The mother of the bride wore a navy dress with navy accessories and a white orchid at her should. e:. For the past six years she has been associated with lural home demonstration work in \yilson County. The bridegroom, son of Mrs. An- nie Morris Stiibbs of Silverdale and the late David Levi Stubbs, was graduated from Epsom High school with the class of 1943, attended N. C. State College where he studied agricultural engineering. For the past few years he has been in the retail merchandising field. Directing the wedding was Mrs. Kyle Hunter Stephenson of Ben- son. Following a wedding trip the young couple will establish resi- dence in Greensboro. Mrs. Justesen Is Bridge Hostess Mrs. Wayne Justesen was hostess at bridge last night, entertaining for members of the Friendly Dozen bridge club and other guests. When the players had arrived, Mrs. Juste- sen served a delicious dessert coursf of homemade vanilla ice cream with brownies ana mints. A lovely bouquet of mixed flower: was on the mantle, and other ar rangements, including yellow mum' and lavender pompoms, were used about the living room. The bridegroom, son of Mrs. An-nie Morris Stiibbs of Silverdaleand the late David Levi Stubbs, wasgraduated from Epsom High schoolwith the class of 1943, attended N.C. State College where he studiedagricultural engineering. For thepast few years he has been in theretail merchandising field.
