THE NEW ADMINISTRATION
The composition o the new Cabinetit givtn in the record of yesterdayevents We have not space and it udoubtful if this is the time to discustthe individual atiabfiotions of theMinisters To the new members ofthe lat Gibson administration weaccorded the independent promise vt afair trial Their disappointment of ourhopes it is not necessary here to dis-cuss- As regards the new Ministrynot only do wc pledge a fair trial but acordial and independent support solong as they firmly pursue the courselaid down for every Government hence-
forth
¬
to be tolerated in Hawaii by thearoused sense of liberty honesty andpurity of what may practically be de-nominated
¬
the entire right thinkingcommunity The firt object to beattained in that course is a new consti-tution
¬
That is the demand of thepeople and there is no getting awayfrom it All we want is experience for
a short space of a constitution conferring popular rights wanting in thepresent effete tmtrumsnt and after-ward
¬
have no doubt that such a com-pendium
¬
nf fundamental law would ifever threatened rally to its supportwore power in proportion to the pop-ulation
¬
than that by which it wassecured
THE KINGS REPLY
To Honorable Paul Isenderc andthe Gentlemen Composino theCommittee or a Meeting or SunjECTS and CitizensGtntUmtn In acknowledging the
receipt of the Resolutions adopted at aMass Meeting held yesterday and pre ¬
sented to us by you wc rc pleased toconvey through you to our loyal sub-jects
¬
as well as to the citizens of Hono-lulu
¬
our expressions of good will andour gratification that our people havetaken the usual constitutional step inprcscntingtheir grievances
To the proposition contained in theResolutions passed by the Meetingwhose action you represent we replythat it has been substantially compliedwith by the formal resignation of theMinistry which took place on the S8thday of June and was accepted on thatdate and that we had already requestedthe Honorable W L Green to form anew Cabinet on the day succeeding theresignation of the Cabinet
To the second proposition we replythat Mr Walter M Gibson has severedall bis connections with the HawaiianGovernment by resignations
To the third propositions we replythat wc do not admit the truth of thematters surfed therein but will submitthe whole subject to our new Cabinet
and will gladly act according to theiradvice and will cause restitution to bemade by the parties found responsible
To the fourth proposition we replythat at our command Mr Junius Kaaeresigned the office of Registrar of Con-veyances
¬
on the 38th day of June andhis successor has been appointed

¬
with our Councillors and ad-visers

To the fifth proposition we replythat the specific pledges required of usare each severally acceded to
We are pleased to assure the mem-bers
¬
of the committee and our loyalsubjects that we are and shall at alltimes be anxious and ready to co-operate
¬
with our Councillors and ad-visers
¬
as well as with our intelligentand patriotic citizens in all matterstouching the honor welfare and prosperity of our Kingdom
Given at our Palace this first day ofJuly A D 1887 and the fourteenthyear of our reign
