Personality: Stubborn, logical, brilliant at maths, unable to understand jokes or metaphors, rigid in thought, fond of animals but confused by people, and a keen detective. He is high-functioning Autistic, which means his thought processes are very different, but he is intelligent, articulate and an absolutely fascinating character.

I think Christopher views good and evil in a very black and white sort of way. He doesn’t really do shades of grey. Like the death of the dog and who he eventually discovers has done it (won’t post spoilers here) he sees it as an unforgivable act – he can’t empathize with the very human reason the act is committed.

Some History

PECS was developed in 1985, by Andy Bondy, PhD and Lori Frost, CCC/SLP, as an augmentative/ alternative communication system that teaches children and adults with autism and other communication deficits to initiate communication. First used at the Delaware Autism Program, PECS has received worldwide recognition for focusing on the initiation component of communication. It was created with educators, resident care providers and families in mind.

Writer´s OpinionMy opinion on this system is that the system brings a lot of things to this special people and you may compare it to the brayle code because it is used usually for the same to help different people and to help them express themselves and can talk with other people.

• A person like Christopher doesn´t fit in the society very easy so help him is a great thing people can do. There are many organizations that help kids like this to have some friends and who can make them happy with just some company. But this starts with his parents, their parents have to understand him and have to help him a lot and have to let him feel free. There are many social places for people with autism and he can start having social life in those places so then he can start having a normal social life.

• This first have to start with some support of professional people so he gets some confidence and he can improve his social abilities. He may start with online things like Facebook, twitter for example and he can start get some online dates so people get to know him before he meets them. Obviously this should start with showing people his language and making people understand his language so people don´t freak out when they meet him in a date or just in a party.

• He has to make a language that people and him can understand and can help them improve their social life. Experts can help him to do it and this can help the social life.

How can I help a kid like Christopher fit into society? How can I help him develop his language I such a way that

other people may understand what he tries to express?

JOURNAL 1

After reading the book and investigating about autism and aspergers I tried to help I look with the cas teacher of my school a way to help those kids and I want to meet some people to know what they do and how they live. I like to get to know them better because I want to see people like christopher. When I saw that people like that existed and then I started to investigate better so I can get to know persons like this better and I can be more reflexive and start teaching people that people like this exist and they are great people not how people think they are, they seem to be very fun and very friendly. I wanted to inform people that they can help this people that there are schools that many of them cant pay and if we give them money or just a job for them to work they can be very happy.

JOURNAL 2

I learned while making the system that the autism and aspergers people have some problems in some things and so I want to help and try to do my best for them to learn something. I know they are very smart in some things like math so I will try to do my best to help them. My system helped people like Christopher because it not only teach the people with autism or aspergers it may also help people to talk with Christopher.

JOURNAL 3

I learned a lot of how Christopher resolved his conflicts. Some things is that all problems can get solved if you want and can be solved in a good manner always in a good mood. After reading this book and knowing how he solved his problems i could solve many more problems because my way of solving problems before was in a bad mood and always complaining about everything, but instead I decided to do it Christopher´s way and it helped a lot because its easier and better.

JOURNAL 4

I think the most important thing in this world is to be unique, to have a unique form of walking, talking, eating, etc. I always say that unique people have unique specialities in life anc that people like Christopher can be better in ñife if they have something unique like their style, thats what makes people special their unique style.
