Many of our customers want Jeppesen to continue receiving and paying Eurocontrol charges on their behalf. Due to recent changes with Eurocontrol regarding the EU Emission Trading Scheme (ETS), the process of Jeppesen receiving charges can continue, provided the actual aircraft operator supplies Eurocontrol with the requisite information outlined below. The process is actually simple, but the aircraft operator is required to file aircraft registration and address information with Eurocontrol.

Throughout the year, our Jeppesen International Trip Planning offices work with a number of ground handling agents to provide services for our customers all over the world. To acknowledge and show our appreciation to handling agents that have provided superior assistance and services, we created the Jeppesen Handler of the Year Award.

For the 2009 awards we asked our trip planning staff to vote for ground handling agents in five global regions that they felt were deserving of such recognition.

In addition to the trip planners, we also considered a variety of attributes including customer feedback, knowledge of the region, ability to meet difficult requests, ability to handle complaints and the overall relationship.

Now, without further adieu, it is our pleasure to announce the recipients of the 2009 Jeppesen Handler of the Year awards:

JEPPESENHANDLEROFTHEYEAR2009

If you would like Jeppesen to process your Eurocontrol charges, please follow these steps:

1. A fleet declaration from the aircraft operator must be submitted to Eurocontrol. If the fleet is composed of one or two aircraft only, then the Central Route Charges Office (CRCO) can be contacted directly by fax (+32 2 729 90 93) or email ([email protected]). However, if the fleet consists of more than two aircraft then the form CRCO Fleet Declaration Eurocontrol must be submitted to CRCO. That form can be found at http://www.eurocontrol.int/crco/gallery/content/public/docs/other/crco_fd.pdf

This form allows Eurocontrol CRCO to associate tail numbers with aircraft operators. When we have a customer with frequently changing or multiple fleets, we will ensure the field 18 remarks section of the ICAO flight plan states the name of the operator.

2. You must also send the following information to CRCO for each aircraft in the fleet.

• Operator’s company/organization name

• The registration markings

• The aircraft type and version

• Certified maximum take-off weight

• The effective date the aircraft became the operator’s liability

• The full postal address to which correspondence and billing documents relative to the Eurocontrol route charges are to be sent

• Contact names, telephone/fax numbers and e-mail addresses of the persons responsible for fleets and receipt of bills

Please ensure that the full postal address states the operator name and then C/O Jeppesen DataPlan or Jeppesen UK Ltd as this will allow us to continue processing Eurocontrol billing on your behalf. For example:

ABC BizJets C/O Jeppesen UK Ltd Alteon House, Crawley Business Quarter Manor Royal, Crawley, West Sussex, RH10 9AD United Kingdom

XYZ BizJets C/O Jeppesen DataPlan, Inc. 225 W. Santa Clara, Ste. 1600 San Jose California 95113 United States of America

The mailing address for CRCO is:

EUROCONTROL Central Route Charges Office Rue de la Fusée 96 B-1130 Brussels, Belgium

If you have any questions or need assistance, please contact any of the international trip planning offices listed on the back cover. n

For those operators that have Jeppesen process their Eurocontrol charges, please see the article titled, Eurocontrol Charges and Jeppesen, which can be found in this issue of the Corporate Flyer newsletter.

Germany: All operators landing in Germany for commercial purposes must have a valid aviation security plan with the Luftfahrt-Bundesamt (LBA). All landing permits issued will be levied a fee by the LBA for the approved aviation security plans. This one-time fee payment will range from 500-5000 euros based on the country of origin and aircraft type. All security plans issued before May 2007 will not be affected by these fees, but those submitted after this date will be subject to the appropriate LBA fees.

India: A reminder to all operators to have your own tow bar for operating into most Indian airports due to a shortage of tow bars locally. It is mandatory to have all aircraft parked nose-in.

Jeppesen World Fuel Services Expansion: A deal was recently signed with Atlantic Aviation at San Jose (SJC), Santa Monica (SMO), Atlanta Hartsfield (ATL) and Atlanta Dekalb-Peachtree (PDK) airports that provides contract fuel for corporate clients at competitive prices. Jeppesen World Fuel Services is the first contract fuel provider to get access for corporate-sized aircraft at San Jose (SJC), so this is exciting news!

Manassas, Virginia (KHEF): Effective 1 December 2009, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) will start performing aircraft clearances at Manassas Regional Airport.

Northern Mariana Islands: Beginning late last year, a new procedure was introduced for customs, immigration and agriculture notifications at Saipan (PGSN) and Rota (PGRO) international airports. Customs and agricultural clearances are now managed by the local customs office, and arrangements can be made through your ground handler. Immigration is now managed by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), and U.S. eAPIS submissions are now required.

Oman: The Civil Aviation Authority of Oman has been requesting 72 hours advance notice for overflight and landing clearance applications. Even though our local agent advises it is often possible to obtain permits in 24-48 hours, we strongly encourage the recommended 72-hour window as much as possible to ensure approval. n

Business Aviation Customer Symposium - Munich Jeppesen conducted another successful regional business aviation customer symposium in Munich on 5 November 2009. 30 customers and partners from 19 organizations attended the one-day event to network and meet Jeppesen staff. The symposium was a great opportunity for us to gain better insight into our customers’ business aviation activities around Europe and beyond.

Jeppesen leaders, product managers and account managers were on hand to demonstrate the latest applications available for trip planning, electronic charts and flight planning as well as discuss road maps for future developments. Key discussions focused on how efficient flight planning tools and electronic charts can assist in operational safety, situational awareness and cost savings within flight departments.

The chairman of the German Business Aviation Association, H.H. Romberg, delivered the keynote speech regarding the current economic situation and upcoming opportunities in the business aviation industry.

The symposium, supported by our partners Aviall, EAE Electronics, The Tablet Store and WhiteConcierge, was held at the BMW Welt facility near Olympic Park. Modern architecture, lots of exciting activities and tours, plus a prominent location in an attractive metropolis, made the BMW Welt facility the perfect venue.

Looking Ahead…

Business Aviation Customer Symposium - London We are continuing our series of popular regional customer seminars with a UK seminar scheduled for mid-March 2010.

The dates will be announced shortly, but the 1 ½ day symposium will take place in London. On the first day of the conference, a general overview and road map on Jeppesen’s corporate aviation products will be presented. A key industry speaker with topical expertise is expected to address the audience. The second conference day will provide detailed product information on our JetPlan flight planning and weather system and electronic charts. During breakout sessions, Jeppesen staff will be on hand to demonstrate various applications. Moreover, an introduction to the newly structured business and general aviation department and customer service management will be provided.

The seminar will primarily be open to UK, Ireland, Scandinavian, Netherlands, German and Italian based customers, but operators from other geographic regions are welcome to attend. Please contact Ilka Wagner ([email protected]) to RSVP or receive more information. We look forward to seeing you there!

EBACE 2010 Jeppesen will exhibit at the 10th Annual European Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition (EBACE2010), which will be held in Geneva, Switzerland on May 4-6, 2010. We will have more information on our participation, employee attendance and booth number in the next issue of the Corporate Flyer newsletter. n

Nazee Sajedi, Account ManagerLike many of you, my interest in aviation took off at a young age. My uncle, who I was very close to growing up, was a fighter pilot flying for the Iranian Air Force in the 1980s. During the eight year war with Iraq, he was often deployed for months in south west Iran and the Persian Gulf region. When my uncle was home he shared thrilling flying stories with me, although I am certain he left out the ones involving combat.

My uncle was eventually transferred to a town near Tehran where my family and I would visit him on the weekends. There, for the first time, I saw various aircraft and

South Africa is preparing to showcase itself during the FIFA World Cup soccer championships from 5 June-18 July 2010.

helicopters close-up and found myself absolutely mesmerized. With a blurry idea of what it is like to be a pilot, my uncle was more of an idol than ever, with me often daydreaming about flying.

When the war finally came to an end in 1988, my uncle sought political asylum from Canada and left the country. My immediate family made various attempts to leave the country as well, and eventually in 1996, after a brief stay in Switzerland, my mom and I moved to the United States to join the rest of my family.

I was sure my dream of flying would be realized living in America. I graduated from high school at the age of 17 and immediately began taking aviation classes. I started flying with friends, and though I loved being in the airplane, I found myself more interested in the business aspects of aviation.

I started work as an intern at Jeppesen and was intrigued by international flight operations. After working as a flight planner for a year, I started in my current position as a global account manager in 2006. I find myself learning something new every day in this industry that keeps you on your toes.

I have had the opportunity to travel and visit many of my customers. Seeing their operations first hand allows me to have a much better grasp on their needs and requirements. Though I never pursued a career as a professional pilot, I could not imagine myself working in any other field. It has been a rewarding experience so far, and I am very excited about the years to come. n
