The Cornerstone E-Newsletter | Issue #6 | August 2018 A Summer Soaking Up the Blessings of God By the time you read this edition of the Cornerstone I’m hoping that like me you are thanking God for all His blessings this summer! Some are thankful for the rain. Some are thankful for some down time. Some are thankful for vacation. And some are thankful for no school. I am thankful for all those things and more. Most of all, I’m thankful for the spiritual blessings that God sends our way and that they are available to everyone. Some of us have been reading through the Bible this year and I always find our daily readings to be timely and encouraging. Speaking of the Bible, I’m thankful for the 10 Commandments. I also love to see our people step-up to roles of service in the church as well [by the way, we still need more nursery workers and group leaders for V.B.S.-why not sign-up today?]. One thing that I hope we are all thankful for is our church. God sent His son and He literally gave up His life for the church. That ultimate sacrifice should compel us to a deep level of gratitude and a high level of service back to Him. In our recent series #IMPACT61752 we discovered that if we desire to truly impact our zip code for Christ we can’t just point people to Him, we need to model Christ for them. AND we need to not only invite people to church, we need to bring them with us. As we go about putting the finishing touches on our Summer over the next few weeks we all hope that we’re thinking of neighbors and friends who really need to know Jesus. More times than not, the rest of us may not even know them. YOU are God’s representative to those friends and neighbors that you know. It is our prayer that as the Summer winds down and we arrive at Fall Kick-offs that all of us will make every attempt possible to invite all those loved ones in to meet the King! A Summer Soaking Up the Blessings of God

By the time you read this edition of the Cornerstone I’m hoping that like me you are

thanking God for all His blessings this summer! Some are thankful for the rain. Some are thankful for some down time. Some are thankful for vacation. And some are thankful for

no school.

I am thankful for all those things and more. Most of all, I’m thankful for the spiritual

blessings that God sends our way and that they are available to everyone. Some of us have

been reading through the Bible this year and I always find our daily readings to be timely and encouraging. Speaking of the Bible, I’m thankful for the 10 Commandments. I also

love to see our people step-up to roles of service in the church as well [by the way, we still need more nursery workers and group leaders for V.B.S.-why not sign-up today?].

One thing that I hope we are all thankful for is our church. God sent His son and He literally gave up His life for the church. That ultimate sacrifice should compel us to a deep level of

gratitude and a high level of service back to Him. In our recent series #IMPACT61752 we

discovered that if we desire to truly impact our zip code for Christ we can’t just point people to Him, we need to model Christ for them. AND we need to not only invite people to church,

we need to bring them with us.

As we go about putting the finishing touches on our Summer over the next few weeks we all

hope that we’re thinking of neighbors and friends who really need to know Jesus. More times than not, the rest of us may not even know them. YOU are God’s representative to

those friends and neighbors that you know. It is our prayer that as the Summer winds

down and we arrive at Fall Kick-offs that all of us will make every attempt possible to invite all those loved ones in to meet the King!

Space

I really wanted to follow that title up with “the final frontier” but I restrained myself (but did I real-ly?). It’s wide open, untamed, mostly unknown, dark and cold. Rendered a different way, “space” is to many of the TLC and HGTV set refers to a room or area in your home or yard that’s about to get an upgrade by the end of the show. After a designer has put their stamp on a space, it’s usually much more functional, specific and livable than before. We’ve found ourselves in a similar situation here. The portable building project is almost complete. Short story (if you haven’t heard it already), we came to an abrupt end to our rental agreement with the Carpenter’s Inn and were left needing a place for our BreakPoint and teen Youth Group to meet. In this same amount of time, Vale Church was moving out of their old site into their new building. I called to ask what was going to come of their portable classroom and they let us have it! A few weeks, calls and projects later, it’s almost usable. Add this to the recently completed classroom update in the north end of the main building, and we’ve got a lot of new space to occupy and use to host students and our community as we work to impact our community. With V.B.S. starting August 5th and Fall programming starting September 5th, get-ting our spaces complete is a big deal and a huge answer to prayer. We’ve definitely got an upgrade to make our current space, and the ministries that meet there, much more user friendly. I’m excited to see how they get used and the good things that happen there!

It’s no secret, Vacation Bible School is upon us! Beginning August 5th, we open our doors and arms to the 61752 area for AMPED VBS! If you haven’t already, get your kids pre-registered! It will save a monumental amount of time and allow us to better serve those who will be joining us for the first time. Also, come join us that week! It’s a great opportunity to work together, host your neighbors and make an impact for God’s kingdom here. Links to register and volunteer can both be found on our website at www.LeRoyChristianChurch.org

As we begin to say goodbye to summer (it’s time friends…everyone’s shopping for school supplies and grills are going for cheap), we begin to look ahead to the fall. Wednesday evening programming kicks off September 5th. Family meals will begin at 5:45 p.m. and our Bible studies, J.A.M. and Break-Point start at 6:30 p.m. J.A.M. will continue to meet in the main building and BreakPoint will now be on site in our new, yet to be named, building to the east (SO looking forward to this!). Make sure to plan ahead for these important dates. Thanks all…go #Impact61752
