It’s hard to believe it’s a year since I joined colleagues in Corby to develop ideas for The Core with groups and individuals from the town’s communities. So much has happened since then that we can all be proud of, and there are many more exciting times to come.

July and August are packed with fantastic opportunities for people of all ages to get involved in creative activities with leading companies. Some of these activities are part of Our Corby, a programme of activities and performances celebrating Corby’s past and imagining its future, linked to the 2011 Cultural Olympiad Open Weekend. Look out for the Our Corby symbol next to Get Involved activities (p.28) and performances in the See A Show section (p.8-10).

In September we host Spoken Word festival Lyric Lounge (p.31) and launch Corby Young Actors (p.33) a six month training programme for local young people to develop their skills and create new performances with nationally recognised artists and companies.

Moving into the autumn, highlights include dance from Motionhouse (p.14), exciting new theatre piece Country Boy’s Struggle (p.21) and music from BBC award-winner Cara Dillon (p.17). In November we would love you to join us as The Core celebrates its first birthday and in the run up to Christmas we have a season which really does offer something for everyone, including the magical One Snowy Night (p.22) and the madcap Potted Panto (p.23).We look forward to seeing you soon.

than the opening last year of The Core at

Corby Cube, a multi-use cultural centre i

n the

Northamptonshire town of Corby” Financial Times

“The Core has given me the chance to meet people and

do what I enjoy. It is open to everyone, offering great

“Volunteering... is so much fun, it’s a

pleasure working with a creative team

Guitarists and string players, DJs and drummers, brass sections and bassists, producers and percussionists: if you make music, this is for you. Places are limited and you must sign up in advance.
