There is no greater

love than to lay down

one’s life for one’s friends.

John 15:13 NLT

The school year has started and it has been CRAZY! New changes are going on at the

high school and middle school with lunch schedules, but it gives me more time to eat with the students. Couldn’t be

more blessed getting to know some of the new students who have been attending our church! Sunday school has

blown up with so many students. Recently we welcomed the new 6th graders into the youth group. We moved the

Wednesday night youth to Sunday nights and it couldn’t be better. The core group has been showing up every Sunday

and with no one to disturb, we are free to do even zanier games. The registration program is right around the corner.

A lot of hard work has been put into this to bring more structure, accountability, and ultimately more glory to the

God we serve. Excited for this school year and even more excited to see what God has in store!

SPECIAL THANK YOU FROM THE CHILD CARE CENTER!

We are so appreciative of the sweet baby blankets hand made by Sharon Mills and for the pillowcases

made by Liz Webb and Jaimie Kirkpatrick. These items will be used throughout the Daycare Center in our

Toddler rooms and up.

We deeply appreciated your work of ministry to our children in this way. Thank you all so much!!

Notes from Mark

Life can get crazy sometimes! This past week was filled with news of one tragedy after another. It’s a reminder that life is short but our

God is still on the throne. God’s word reminds us in Philippians 4:6-7, “do not be anxious for anything, but in everything by prayer and

petition with thanksgiving let your request be made known to God. And the peace of God that surpasses all understanding, will guard

your heart and your minds in Christ Jesus.” What a blessing to know that we have a God who wants us to “cast our cares on Him, because

He cares for you.” 1 Peter 5:7

Worship Choir

The Worship Choir meets at 7:10 each Wednesday. We will be starting preparation for a Christmas Musical this month and we are looking

for new choir members. Please be in prayer about your part in joining us to worship the Lord together.

The Backpack Buddies program will begin the middle of September and this year we hope to not only serve the Elementary School but the Middle School.

This means we may possibly need volunteers to deliver food brought to us from the Houston Food Bank to the schools every Friday morning throughout the school year.

If you would be interested in learning more about this great mission opportunity that ensures children in need have food throughout the weekend, please contact Emily in the church office or by email.

Celebration

Leap of Faith

On Sunday, September 25th following the ser-

vices at 11:00 and at 12:00 a free meal will be

served. The menu will be Fish and Pulled Pork

with all the trimmings.

This event is hosted by the Men’s and Women’s

Ministries of DWMBC.

The purpose is to serve as a unified effort of the

whole church to boost the General Offering in

support of our search for a new pastor. Our en-

couragement, is to challenge each family to give

over and above their normal tithes for the month

of October.

I would like to thank the church for praying for me and my family during my recent illness and hospital stay.

I can’t tell you how I felt your prayers as God was healing my body mentally, physi-cally and spiritually. He even allowed me to do ministry during my time there which was such a blessing.

Phil. 4:11 I have learned to be content in whatever state I am.
