How To Make Your Own Flashcards What you will need: Blank flashcards (7) Black marker Colored pencils (purple and green) Outline of each state Directions: 1. Using a blank flashcard, trace the first state onto it. 2. Mark the abbreviation in the middle of the state and mark a star in the place of the capital. 3. Color the background purple if it starts with the letter A, and green if it starts with the letter C. 4. Flip the card over and write the name of the state and the name of the capital. 5. Repeat until you have made flashcards for all seven states. Your flashcards should look like this:

Another way to differentiate this lesson would be to draw the state for them and have them identify it. Or, you could give them the state, then they have the draw it and identify the capital, etc.
