Congratulations to Daria Markham and Khaya Moses, our November Healthy Heroes!  Mrs. Markham is mother of 1st grader Taylor Makham and 4-year old Kyle.  She has been practicing yoga for the past 4 years and last year taught weekly yoga classes to the kindergarteners.  "Yoga is a way to make the connection - for your body to feel powerful and your mind to feel powerful and yoga brings them together," she explains.  Mrs. Markham will continue to teach weekly yoga classes to kindergarteners and first graders this year.

Khaya is a 1st grader in Mrs. Burke and Mrs. Eckler's class.  He is looking forward to doing yoga this year with Mrs. Markham and remarked how he really enjoyed making  letters with his body during yoga time last year.  Khaya likes to go to the gym with his mom and lifting weights, riding his bike and playing outside.

In addition to both enjoying yoga, Mrs. Markham and Khaya also have the same favorite food - broccoli!

The Greater Rochester Healthy Foundation and WOIS salute Daria Markham and Khaya Moses as November's Healthy Heroes.

If you would like to nominate a student, parent, or teacher who you think sets an example as a Healthy Hero, please contact Amy Shema at [email protected]

Congratulations October Healthy Heroes Kasim O’Meally and Mrs. Laber!
