Health Ministry News

With the new Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) in the news, we thought it would be an excellent time to remind parishioners of everyday strategies that are important for preventing the spread of common respiratory viruses like the common cold and flu: • Stay home and avoid public places when sick (i.e. social distancing) • Cover mouth and nose when coughing and sneezing • Wash hands frequently • Avoid being within 6 feet (close contact) of a person who is sick • Avoid sharing drinks, smoking/vaping devices, or other utensils or objects that may transmit saliva • Disinfect frequently touched surfaces

Again, if you feel ill, please stay home. As of March 1st, there have been no cases if COVID-19

in New Hampshire. Currently there is no change in the distribution of The Body and Blood of Christ at

Mass. Mary Reidy, Parish Nurse 995-1384

What is a Baby Bottle Boomerang?

It’s a 4-week campaign during Lent in which the Knights of Columbus distributes baby bottles to those parishioners who elect to participate after Mass on March 7/8.

Parishioners are then encouraged to fill their bottles with coins, currency, and/or checks during the next two weeks

Bottles are returned on March 28/29, with all the proceeds going to support the pro-life Pregnancy Center of Greater Concord.

Thanks to all who filled out a survey at Masses the first week-end of February. Most of those attending Masses at both parishes agreed with the statements. A number of people at St. Theresa recognize problems with the sound system, which we have worked on, on and off, over the last three years: adjustments, a new mixer, and new portable mic and transmitter for the main celebrant and asking lectors to move the mic within three inches of their lips. These efforts have not sufficiently provided the sound amplification we have come to expect from Churches, auditoriums, conference centers and other places of assembly. The parish Finance Council continues to review options, with the help of all those involved with our music ministries.

Many people in both parishes appear to be unaware of the financial condition and management of our two parishes. We will make a concerted effort in the weeks to come to better inform every one of our parish budgets, and the current status of the assets at St. Mary's, and the debt at St. Theresa. Overall, we are holding our own, but both parishes have financial needs that need to be addressed.

Overall, respondents indicated that music ministries are doing well. We do need to communicate ways we are helping families to grow in faith, especially through this year's newest parish ministry, the monthly Family Formation. We would also do well to better publicize our many outreach efforts, from providing meals after many funerals, meals and other help for households dealing with sickness, back-pack food programs in Hillsborough and in Hopkinton, contributions to local food pantries, and many other initiatives by parishioners
