Baseball
It’s that time of year again. The snow is melting and our spring sports have begun! Baseball
practice started on March 17, just coming back from our spring break. Coach Engelstad says
that he has about 15 boys out for the team this year. The boys are practicing inside right now,
but are hoping the snow melts soon so they can get outside. When I asked TJ Martin how he
thinks the season will go this year he said, “We’re going to win every game.” Let’s hope he’s
right and we’ll wish the boys good luck in this up-coming season.
The schedule for Baseball can be found on page 11.

Boys Basketball I would like to start out by saying thanks to all the boys for making this year a lot of fun.
The year started out with us playing in the Ramsey Tournament where we finished third. We
then went into districts as the fourth seed. We ended up coming out of the district tournament
with a second place finish. We ended the season with a hard fought loss to Harvey in the re-
gional tournament. The team battled injuries throughout the season as Jalen Pfeifer started out
with a broken foot. He came back just before tournament time. Then, Senior, Trevor Gottbreht,
went down with a severely bruised thumb just before tournament time, he tried hard to play but
just wasn’t himself. I was very proud of the way the rest of the team stepped up in there ab-
sence. When the season was all said and done we ended up with a 10-13 record. The Coaching
staff, players, and stats, I would like to say thank you. I would also like to send a very big thank
you to all of the parents who supplied the goodie bags each time we went on the road. It got to
where we wanted to play on the road because of all the great treats. I would also like to thank
my assistants Mr. Engelstad and Tory Danielson for all the help they gave during the year and
for the great job they did with their players.
Thanks again to all the players, assistant coaches, stats and parents for the fun and excit-
ing season. Remember, for us to reach our goal, there should be no off season. Keep your eyes
open for open gyms, team camps, and basketball camps as they are an important part in the de-
velopment of our players and teams.
Thanks again, Coach Heinz.
Coach Heinz also mentioned some of the stats the boys had and are as follows.
-Captains: Nick Myhre and Trevor Gottbreht
-Scoring Leaders: Nick Myhre (377 points), Casey Julson (342 points), TJ Martin (184
points), and Trevor Gottbreht (181 points).
-Rebounding leaders: Nick Myhre (172 rebounds), Trevor Gottbreht (171 rebounds),
Rylan Graber (86 rebounds), and Devon Olson (82 rebounds).
-Assist Leaders: Casey Julson (80 assists), Jalen Pfeifer (41 assists), Trevor Gottbreht
(41 assists), and TJ Martin (41 assists).
-Steal Leaders: Casey Julson (51 steals), Trevor Gottbreht (45 steals), and Devon Olson
(28 steals).
As you can see the boys had a good season this year. The team will lose two seniors, Nick
Myhre and Trevor Gottbreht, as they graduate this Spring. Congratulations to the boys for a
great season.

Post-Prom Party
There will be a post prom
party taking place after Prom
on May 3. Planning is cur-
rently underway for the Post
Prom Party which will be
held at the Memorial Hall
after the dance. This has
been an annual event for the
Rolette and Wolford stu-
dents. This event has been a
fun and safe alternative for
the students. If you would
like to help with the plan-
ning, make a donation or
would like more infor-
mation, you can do so by
contacting Jason Brorby at
550-7310 or Emily Tumey at
201-0637.
There is a sign up sheet in
the office at the school for
anyone that would like to
attend in grades 9-12 and
their dates. Also, there is a
permission slip that each stu-
dent planning to attend the
post prom must get signed.
These can also be picked up
in the office or found on
page 14.
They will also be ordering T
-shirts and sweatshirts again
this year from idesign. If you
would like one, sign up for
one next to your name and
you must pay $20 for your
shirt or sweatshirt when or-
der is placed.
The girls had a great basketball season this year! They had a
good run with a final record of 17-6. Coach Murtaugh said
that the girls set some milestones this year as they won the
first round game in regionals for the first time since 2000!
That’s awesome. Also the girls finished the highest in school
history for the girls program by placing 3rd overall in the re-
gion. Good Job Lady Comets.
This year was the end of high school basketball for five of the
teams’ girls—Rae Beaver, Sam Boucher, Callie Brorby, Alys-
sa Graber, and Brittany Tumey. Rae said, “We had a success-
ful season. It was rewarding to end the season with something
that hadn’t been done in Rolette for a long time. I’m definitely
going to miss playing basketball here.” I’m sure that each of
these girls will miss playing with their other team mates and
that it’s going to be different not playing ball next winter.
Score Leaders: Rae Beaver (average 18.3 per game), Lexy
Wittmayer (avg. 15.4 game), and Callie Brorby (avg. 9.1 a
game).
Rebound Leaders: Rae Beaver (avg. 9.7 a game), Lexy Witt-
mayer (avg. 9.5 a game), and Callie Brorby (avg. 5.0 a game).
Rae Beaver and Lexy Wittmayer were named to the All-
District team for District 8.
