THE COFFEE BEAN & TEA LEAF CELEBRATES SUCCESSFULPARTNERSHIP
WITH BLUE DOG RESCUE
AUSTIN, Texas (December 21, 2009) The Coffee Bean & Tea
Leafslocally ownedfranchisee, Lone Star Bean, today announced that
its month-long program with Blue DogRescue has been a tremendous
success. During the month of November, The Coffee Bean &Tea
Leafraised nearly $1,500 for the local non-profit organization
benefiting homeless dogs.
The program had two components: Customers helped create
awareness with the purchase ofa bracelet at The Coffee Bean &
Tea Leafstwo Austin locations for a minimum donation of $1.All
proceeds (excluding production costs) were donated to Blue Dog
Rescue to support theirfoster program.
In addition, The Coffee Bean & Tea Leafhosted three Blue Dog
Rescue informational fosterevents to provide prospective families
with additional information on the animals and theorganization.
Blue Dog Rescue greatly appreciates the support that we received
from The Coffee Bean &Tea Leafspromotion. Not only did the
initiative raise crucial awareness for our programs,but also
substantial funds that will make a difference in the lives of our
four-legged friends,
said Amy Waggoner, Blue Dog Rescue board member.
In addition to its fundraising efforts, The Coffee Bean &
Tea Leafnow sells Blue Dog Rescues2010 Music and Muttscalendar in
both of its stores - 221 S. Lamar Blvd. (one block south ofLady
Bird Lake), and 3718 N. Lamar Blvd. (on the southwest corner of
North Lamar & 38thStreet).
About Blue Dog RescueBlue Dog Rescue is a volunteer organization
whose purpose is to end the needless killing ofhomeless dogs. In
2006, Austin killed over 12,000 dogs, cats, puppies, and kittens at
one areaanimal shelter alone. Many of them were healthy,
well-behaved animals who could have
made someone a wonderful pet. They were killed because there
wasn't enough room to keepthem until homes could be found for them.
Most Blue Dogs have come from Central Texasanimal shelters. Blue
Dog Rescue takes only those animals that are in danger of
beingeuthanized.
Blue Dog Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation, funded by
donations, fundraisers,and adoption fees, that works to find
permanent, loving homes for homeless dogs in theCentral Texas area.
