The Cockpit for single risk provisioning with SAP Impairment Management for Banking

iBS Impairment Workplace (iBS-IWP) - extends SAP Impairment Management for Banking to a complete impairment solutions

Product Report iBS-IWP

The iBS Impairment Workplace enables, as a central cockpit for the credit officer, efficient ma-nagement of expected cash flows (ECF) and the accom panying impairment for financial instru-ments valued at amortized costs.

iBS-IWP supports the specialist departments responsible (back-office or restructuring/liquidati-on) during the entire impairment process – from the calculation and formation of risk provisio-ning through to the complete write-off or re-aging.

Scope of Functions

Central management of work lists

The transactions identified for individual support are managed in a central, transparent worklist and assi-gned to the departments or employees responsible.

User-oriented overview of the impairment-relevant data

Within the Web interface of iBS-IWP, users are pre-sented with a clear overview of the data required to evaluate risks and model the expected cash flows (such as contractual cash flows, securities, and position changes).

Comprehensive functions for modeling expected cash flows

For creating new impairment cases and for sub sequent measurements, iBS-IWP offers an intuitive user inter-face with extensive options for modeling the expected cash flows and expected revenue from liquidation of collateral.

Impairment is always calculated at single transaction level, respectively for a specific individual case.

Simulation of different scenarios

To develop case-specific restructuring or liquidation strategies, multiple scenarios can be modeled in parallel – a function that is used significantly, for example, in specialized lending (e.g. aircraft/ships).

Transparent reporting of impairment effects

The required need for adjustments for risk provisio-ning and how they might affect profit and loss accoun-ting and the balance sheet are shown in a clear over-view. This makes it easy to compare different scenarios with each other.

Release process with automated transfer to SAP Bank Analyzer

Cases are released by means of a SAP workflow con-trolled approval process (optional) – taking into ac-count a principle of multiple control and various com-petence levels.

iBS Impairment Workplace – The perfect enhancement for SAP Impairment Management for Banking

With SAP Impairment Management for Banking, SAP will enhance its banking services to include a new highly flexible com-ponent for the automated calculation and posting of risk provisioning in accordance with various accounting standards. The standard software, iBS Impairment Workplace, provides functions and interfaces in the form of an add-on, to enable efficient individual support of significant transactions, thus turning the SAP software into a comprehensive impairment solution.

iBS-IWP features an intuitive web-interface for valuating single financial transactions.

When a case is released, it is automatically transferred to SAP Impairment Management for Banking and to financial accounting via Accounting for Financial Instru-ments. If rejected, the impairment case goes back to the employee responsible.

Easy transfer between automatic and manual processing

For individual support, it is possible to transfer rele-vant transactions from fully automated processing in SAP Impairment Management for Banking to the iBS Impairment Workplace, at any time, by changing the valuation approach. Similarly, the valuation approach can be changed back to automated processing.

Audit-compliant documentation & historization

The historization of the relevant data and the audit-compliant documentation of impairment management take place within the application-specific database.

Support of different accounting standards Similar to SAP Impairment Management for Banking the iBS Impairment Workplace supports multiple GAAP standards, in particular with respect to the new requirements under IFRS 9.

Easy to integrate & customize

iBS-IWP features a Web front end (ABAP Web Dyn-pro) and is connected to SAP Impairment Manage-ment for Banking via SAP SOA services.

Other impairment-relevant data is read via standar-dized interfaces (such as BAPIs) from the SDL of SAP Bank Analyzer, and if necessary, directly from the ope-rational SAP systems.

iBS-IWP can be easily tailored to your institute-specific requirements by means of its customizing functionality. Customer-specific enhancements are also possible.

Developed in close cooperation with SAP SE

iBS Impairment Workplace was developed by iBS AG in close alignment with SAP SE. Due to the early and intensive cooperation, iBS Impairment Workplace integrates seamlessly with SAP Impairment Manage-ment for Banking.
