New EMV Chip on Debit Cards

We are pleased to inform you that Muskegon Co-op Federal Credit Union has started upgrading all debit cards to a new card featuring EMV chip technology. The EMV Chip is more secure than non-EMV cards and will increase protection against fraud. All old cards will automatically deactivate after 30 days of the Chip card mailing.

Please note: your debit card number and expiration date will change when we transition to this new EMV card. If you have any automatic payments set up on your debit card, you will need to contact the company to give them your new debit card number and expiration date.

Credit Union Food Drive Muskegon Co-op FCU has teamed up with other area cred-it unions of the Moon Chapter (Muskegon, Ottawa, Oceana, and Newaygo counties) for our 8th annual Credit Union Food Drive! Join us as we once again work together to replenish local food pantries with dona-tions of canned or non-perishable goods. Muskegon Co-op will be accepting food donations throughout the months of No-vember and December. Monetary dona-tions are also welcome and appreciated. All food and funds collected stay in our local community and go directly to help those in need. Join us to help others in our communi-ty… Thank you for your generosity!

Christmas Club Payouts

Christmas Club account funds will be transferred to your share ac-count on either October 1 or No-vember 15. If your Christmas Club account suffix is 020, then your funds will be transferred October 1st. If your Christmas Club account suffix is 024, then your funds will be transferred November 15th. Aren’t you glad you saved all year?

How to Keep Your Personal Information Secure

Protecting your personal information can help reduce your risk of identity theft. There are four main ways to do it:

Keeping Your Personal Information Secure Offline.

Keep financial documents, identification, insur-ance forms and credit/debit cards in a secure location.

Keeping Your Personal Information Secure Online.

Make sure you know who is getting your per-sonal or financial information. Don’t give out personal information on the phone, through the mail or over the internet unless you initiated the contact. Use strong passwords and keep them private.

Securing Your Social Security Number.

Keep your social security number in a safe loca-tion and don’t give it out unless necessary. Your financial institution and employer need it for tax reporting, when you apply for credit or for wage reporting.

Keeping Your Devices Secure.

Use anti-virus software, anti-spyware software and strong passwords and beware of phishing emails from people you don’t know.
