“We are delighted that students in our American Civil War studies classes are able simulate and bring to life the abolitionist cause to end slavery,” University High School Principal Dr. Shari Burgess said. “These students are gaining critical thinking, teamwork and collaboration skills by simulating the struggles from this very difficult period in American history.” Dr. Shari Burgess, Principal University High School Morgantown, West Virginia
“This is a historical simulation that promotes planning, strategy, teamwork and a sense of duty to humanity by attempting to topple the institution of slavery,” Caskey said of his students’ collaborative efforts. “This simulation makes history come alive and successfully achieves the almost insurmountable task of abolishing slavery, which the abolitionists must have experienced and struggled with daily. The game is amazingly hands-on and represents experiential learning at its finest.” Phil Caskey History Teacher University High School Morgantown, W. VA
