As a Millennium project, The Kintyre Civic Society published "The Campbeltown Book" in 2003 - The chapter s of t he near 400-page lo ng book cov er a wi de range of subj ects, from the physical geolo gy of the area to the ar chitecture of the town, from empl oyment in the area's fishing, agricultur e, whisky distilling and coal mining industrie s to the h istory of the to wn's churches an d schools, all this and more cover ed from a perspectiv e which stretches fr om the historical to the present day. Vol ume 1 of An gu s Mart in 's " An Hi storic al and Gen eal ogi cal T our of Ki lk err an Graveyard", published in 2006 an d he proposin g to publish a second volume in 2008/2009, is based on his information-packed tours in recent years around the historic gravestones in Kilker ran Graveyard, the book giving fascin ating backgrou nd to 44 of the graves along wi th information of much interest to family historians and George John Stewart providing a number of illustration s, some of them light-h earted and a map to enable one to pilot their way r ound the graveyard to find the graves described. 1
