Central Park Procession

On Friday, September 25, Pope Francis will greet thousands

of guests in a historic procession through Central Park along

the West Drive. Residents of New York State may apply to

receive two (2) tickets via an online ticket giveaway contest.

Residents can visit nyc.gov/papalvisit or call 311 between

Our parish has been allocated 22 tickets to the papal mass.

We will hold a lottery to distribute the tickets. Before you

decide to enter the lottery, here is some important infor-

mation.

* Due to security concerns, all those attending the mass must

be in their seat by 2 PM and will not be free to leave until

approximately 8:30 PM.

* Names and addresses must be submitted to the Archdio-

cese for security review by Friday, September 11th, so en-

tries must be made by Wednesday, September 9th at 5 pm.

* Once inside the garden, confessions will be available.

* Tickets are only available to registered parishioners that

have been registered for at least one year. Once a name has

been drawn, it will be checked with our Parishioner database

to make sure you have been a registered parishioner.

To enter the lottery, fill out the box below and return it to

the WelcomeCenter-Bookstore.

Sacred Sounds at St. Paul’s

Tuesday, September 8th

Organist Daniel Ficarri and pianist Anna Han perform at St.

Paul’s to kickoff “Sacred Sounds at St. Paul’s” - an organ

concert series featuring students of The Juilliard School.

Each concert is free; donations benefit the restoration of our

Moller pipe organ. Ficarri and Han will present a program of

works by Mendelssohn, Shostakovich, Scriabin, Guilmant

and Vierne. The program features the premiere of two ar-

rangements for organ and piano. A reception will follow.

Join us as we discuss the classic Don Quixote by Cervantes.

Don Quixote, with his loyal squire, Sancho Panza sets out to

become a knight-errant himself. His adventures take him in

many directions, and often lead him astray. The two roam

the world together, and together they have thrilled readers’

imaginations for over 400 hundred years. The translation

being used for this discussion is done by John Rutherford

and is available in the Welcome Center - Book Store.

Save the date to join us for the Friends of the Poor Walk to

raise awareness of those in need in our community. We will

be meeting ahead of time so that we can walk as a group.

Arts & Artists—Broadway’s Future Concert

Monday, September 28th at 6 pm

Arts and Artists at St. Paul will present its first Broadway’s

Future Songbook concert of this season on Monday, Septem-

ber 28th at 6PM at The New York Public Library for the

Performing Arts at Lincoln Center - Bruno Walter Auditori-

um - 111 Amsterdam Avenue (just south of 65th Street).

This month’s concert will feature the songs of the award-

winning songwriter Robert Lindsey Nassif and starts the cel-

ebration of our twenty-fifth anniversary season of new mu-

sic. We are once again lucky to have performers from some

of Broadway’s top shows lending their talents. This series is

produced, directed and hosted by John Znidarsic. Admis-

sion is FREE and seating is on a first come-first serve basis.

Blood Drive

In memory of those who died during the attack of 911 and

our many service people who did their service of protection

for those whon put their own lives in danger to save others.

With the help of Saint Paul's, New York Blood Center will

be setting up for donations in our Parish Center. Giving

Walking the High Bridge

Saturday, September 12th following 8:30 am Mass

Come cross the newly reopened bridge that connects

Manhattan to the rest of the world!

This bridge is the oldest standing bridge in New York City.

The bridge connects Manhattan’s Washington Heights and

the Bronx. We will gather after mass in the doorway of the

church. We will take the subway to the bridge and explore

the area around the bridge as well as cross over it. Join us for

some friendship, history and even some exercise and be

home before noon!

Songs of Inspiration: Broadway Goes to Church

Monday October 5th at 7 pm

Tony Award winners Lillias White & Cady Huffman, as

well as stars from the Tony Award winning musicals Kinky

Boots and Avenue Q, will share their talents at The Church

of St. Paul the Apostle in a special concert event benefitting

the Music Ministry Program.

Hosted (and with performances by) concert stars and record-

ing artists, Will & Anthony Nunziata, the event will be mu-

sical directed by Garrett Taylor who will lead an 8 piece-

orchestra playing some of the most glorious music from

Broadway, Gospel, and beyond. There are $20 tickets for

Mary Manning Walsh Walk-a-thon

Saturday, September 19th

The Volunteer Association of Mary Manning Walsh Home

invites the parishioners of St. Paul the Apostle Parish to join

our 28th Annual Walk-A-Thon on Saturday, September 19,

2015. The purpose of the Walk is to raise funds to support

programs which the volunteers provide for the residents.

Participants' fee is $15 for adults and $12 for children (pets

are also welcome without charge) which includes a souvenir

T-shirt, refreshments in the park and lunch upon return to the

Home. An optional Mass will be offered at 8 A.M. in the

Holy Family Chapel at the Home, 1339 York Avenue, at

72nd Street, followed by a light breakfast in the auditorium.

The parade of walkers to Central Park begins at 9:30 A.M.

and all are invited to return for a gala party with food and

beverages at 1:30 P.M. in the Mary Manning Walsh Home

auditorium. A video will be taken during the Walk and

shown during lunch. We look forward to seeing you and

having you participation in this fun-filled successful event.
