Dear Brothers and Sisters:

Latter-day Saint Edition of the Holy Bible in Portuguese

We are pleased to announce the publication of the Latter-day Saint edition of the Holy Bible in Portuguese. This edition is based on the Almeida translation and is titled Bíblia Sagrada: Almeida 2015. It contains new chapter headings, footnotes, cross-references to all of the standard works, and other study helps that will enhance your understanding of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ.

We are also pleased to announce the availability of updated editions of the Book of Mormon and the triple combination of the scriptures in Portuguese. The electronic versions of the scriptures and more detailed information are available now on LDS.org and in the Gospel Library mobile application. Printed copies will begin to be made available in March of 2016 through local Church distribution centers.

We encourage members to obtain their own copies of these scriptures and to use them in regular personal and family study and in Church meetings and assignments. As members prayerfully learn and teach from the scriptures, their testimonies will grow and they will receive greater direction in their daily lives.

This letter is being translated and will be distributed to units identified as Portuguese. If leaders need this letter in languages not listed above, they may contact the Area Presidency or the member of the Presidency of the Seventy who supervises the area.
