Church Family,We sit at one of the most exciting and unknown futures in our

country. I have had so many conversations with members about politics and their worries and concerns about our country. No matter where you sit on the political spectrum, I want to ask that you join me on a joint venture.

Beginning Monday and continuing through Tuesday night, would you join me in fasting for our country? I am asking that you pray for God’s direction in placing the right person in place as the next President of the United States. Let’s pray that they will seek the wisdom of the Scriptures and of wise counsel from people of faith in Jesus. That as they are preparing for this office, they will have spiritual clarity and be humbled by the mighty hand of God.

I want to take a quick moment to encourage you on how to fast during this time. Fasting in scripture was done through the deletion of meals for the sake of spiritual focus on prayer. Those of you with children and students need to take the time to talk about how they can be a part of this fasting time. Children and students have a hard time with food fasting, so encourage them to fast from media and spend the time as a family praying for the candidates and for our country as a family.

If you are single, you may consider gathering at a coffee shop with other singles and pray for our country with others. I ask that you pray over every candidate and not just the one that you support. Pray that they all would seek the Lord and His leadership. Pray that our country would seek His face and follow His will. Take the ordinary in this time and make it extraordinary. Take the time to depart with us over the next couple of days to seek the face of God for our country and our next President.

May we be found not praying that God would bless our country, but rather that our country would once again bless the Lord!
