The CHS students, staff and community honored America’s armed forces and paid tribute to the lives lost on 9/11 by donning red, white and blue and waving hundreds of flags during Thursday’s varsity football game vs. Desert Ridge. On Thursday, September 10th, N’Keal Harry, CHS Varsity Wide Receiver, was presented his 2015 Under Armour All-American Game jersey. Read this article on N’Keal for a special inside look at N’Keal and what drives his success. CHS hosted the House of Payne Volleyball Invitational last week, and one of our very own received All-Tournament honors. Senior Moira Murphy made the 2015 HOP All-Tournament Team (pictured below with Coach Audra Slemmer). Great job, Moira!

Last week, CHS Choir hosted the 2015 Barbershop Extravaganza and performed to a packed CCA house. The Men’s Choir, Treblemakers, Chamber Choir and combined choirs shared the stage with the four-time international champion Scottsdale Chorus, which includes a large number of CHS alumni and is directed by Ms. Lori Lyford, CHS Choir Director.

The Chandler High School Theater Department will present I Never Saw Another Butterfly on September 15th, 16th, and 17th at 7:00 p.m. at the Chandler Center for the Arts Bogle Theater. Tickets are $7 at the door. The play, which has a cast of 22, and takes place during the Holocaust, is adapted from the book by Celeste Raspanti and is directed by Ms. Stephanie Likes, CHS Theater Teacher and Director.

The CHS Hiking Club enjoyed an adventure at South Mountain on Saturday, September 5th. Their sponsor is Mrs. Carol Gould, CHS Social Studies Teacher. For more info on the club, see Mrs. Gould in rm. 219.

CHS Student Council recently attended an Arizona Association of Student Council Spirit Conference. The Wolves represented CHS well and were challenged to show their passion for their school campus.

Save the date! The CHS World Language Department is hosting the 2015 World Language Fair on Thursday, October 29th. Students who would like to audition for cultural performances need to see Dr. Foerst in room 516.

1. The Chandler Unified School District continues to grow approximately 600 to 1000 students a year which requires additional classrooms, related furniture, technology and equipment.

2. Funding is necessary to maintain and protect the District’s $683,000,000 investment in existing facilities. Currently the State is only providing the District with $3,069,209 in additional district assistance to help maintain our facilities annually.

In order to vote in the November election, you must register by October 5, 2015. Ballots will be mailed on October 8, 2015. Election Day is November 3, 2015.

YEARBOOK DEADLINE: The Early Bird Yearbook Sale will be ending in less than two weeks. You can still buy the 2015-16 yearbook for $50.00. The price will increase after September 25th. Payment can be made in the Chandler High Bookstore or online at jostensyearbooks.com. Leasure Portrait Studio will be on campus at the Chandler Center for the Arts on Tuesday, September 22nd to retake underclass (9-11 grade) student photos for those interested. If students were unable to have their photos taken on the Underclass Photo Day in August, or are new to Chandler High School since the middle of August, then it is important that they sit for the camera on September 22nd, the last opportunity for the 2015-16 yearbook. Also, parents as you attend games, concerts, and activities at Chandler High, if you have some great photos that you would like to share with us for yearbook consideration, we have a Jostens yearbook APP called replay.com that you can download on your Smartphone and then you upload your photos using this Jostens replayit.com app. Yearbook staff will consider all photos on replay it and will select those that will fit best the creator’s page design.
