Awards and Accolades

Workshop By Dr. Karan Singh, a Parliamentarian Students, were fortunate enough to have the opportunity to attend the lecture deliv-ered by the esteemed and highly renowned Dr. Karan Singh, Member of Parliament, on 26th September, 2014, at Teen Murti Bhavan , New Delhi. He spoke about the sig-nificance of Upanishad in today’s life, and various ways in which we can imbibe them in our education system, so as to develop into a progressive nation. He emphasized on learning being a continuous process and one should have a questioning mind at all times to enable one to challenge establishments.

Founder’s Day Our founder President Sir, Dr Ashok K Chauhan is one such person whom we salute with grateful hearts. On the momentous occasion of Founder’s Birthday the entire Amity-46 fraternity cele-brated the Founder’s Day on 30/10/14. Hon’ble Founder Sir and Chairperson Ma’am along with other distinguished guests were welcomed by the school band at the entrance. The guests were

given a traditional welcome with manglacharan at the school recep-tion. The lamp of knowledge was lighted by the founder sir, chairperson ma’am and other guests. Founder sir was given a grand welcome by the students of AIS-46 on his way to the Hall for the main event. The event began with the orchestra presentation-SURJAZZ, which was a combination of traditional and contemporary

music. Orchestra was followed by a skit-Jeevan Darshan depicting the journey of life of the Founder Sir, the audience got enthralled by the mesmerizing performance of students. In the rendezvous session with the Foun-der sir students from GT team asked different types of questions on various is-sues from the Founder. Students got inspired by his motivating words and his life story. The Founder Sir and Chairperson ma’am addressed the gathering and en-sured parents that their children are in right hands as they always think and care

for all amitians. The star performers in academics and sports for last academic session were acknowledged in the event and scholarships were given to them for the session 2014-15.32 students from classes VI to XI were awarded scholarship from the Hon’ble Founder Sir and Chairperson Ma’am.35 students from different classes were acknowl-edged for their outstanding performance in sports for the academic year 2013-14. Support staff and Amitasha stu-dents also met Founder Sir and extended their greetings on the occasion.

“Santulan- A step towards conservation” Amity International School, Sector 46, Gurgaon celebrated its Senior School Annual Day “Santulan- A step towards conservation”on 20th October, 2014, in the school premises. Santulan, as the name suggests, is a step taken by Amity -46, towards conservation of our environment, ethics, heritage, and cyber space, especially in our children to make them global citizens of the world. The occasion was inaugurated with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the illustrious Chief Guest for the func-tion Prof. Mrs.Sadhana Parashar (academics, research and training) CBSE ,Padmashri Shovana Narayan (Kathak guru) with the worthy guests of honour, Mr. Alok Mittal (Commissioner of Police, Gurgaon) accompanied by the chairperson (Amity Group of Schools) Dr. (Mrs.) Amita Chauhan and the Principal Mrs.Arti Chopra. Mrs. Sadhna Parashar, in her speech, congratulated Dr. Ashok K Chauhan, Dr. (Mrs.) Amita Chauhan and the Principal, Mrs. Arti Chopra for the philanthropic efforts undertaken by Amity and the holistic education imparted by the school. The gracious presence of the Chairperson, Dr. (Mrs.) Amita Chauhan made the event very special for all present. The Annual Function commenced with mellifluous orchestra 'Surjazz' a unique blend of Indian and Western music. The Principal , Mrs. Arti Chopra presented the Annual report and achievements of the school, followed by the Vic-tory saga which celebrated the achievements of the students who had won accolades. 'Ved Nidhi' a special musical performance by the students of Amitasha, an initiative by Dr.(Mrs.) Amita Chauhan (Chairperson Amity Group of Schools) for the less privileged girl child captivated the audience. The spectacular musical ballet delicately brought out the essence of maintaining a balance – an equilibrium to-wards conservation of environment, ethics, heritage and cyberspace. The audience witnessed life and energy being propelled into an ' ethos inspiring vision'. Viraasat - Ateet ki Chaap an exhibition was displayed by the students to showcase an insight into our heritage . The whole stage was full of dance and music. The lovely costumes, radiant and exuberant faces and the scintillating dance performances overwhelmed the parents with extreme joy and de-light. The chief guests congratulated the students for the most riveting performance.The presentation not just captivated and enthralled the audience but also received unqualified appreciation from all quarters especially the Chairperson of the school, who lauded the untiring efforts of the Principal in putting together the thought provoking show on such a current and sensitive topic which is truly the need of the hour. The proceedings came to a befitting end by appreciation from the honourable Chairperson who was greeted by a resounding ovation from the audience.

An inter school science quiz was held at S D Adarsh Vidhyalaya Gurgaon Sec 47 on 11th October 2014. Swapnil of X G, Shivam Singhal (X D)and Nishtha Gupta IX D participated from our school and they scored the first position and won the tro-phy for the school. The event was a great learning experience for students.

As Diwali was round the corner, the young amitians were also in festive mood. On 16/10/14(Thursday) they participated in various fun filled, innovative and colorful activities to express their joy and happiness. Students of classes I & II decorated their class rooms and cor-ridors with beautiful rangoli. Classes III & IV made beautiful greeting cards for their near

and dear ones. Students of class V made collages with the

Avnish Roperia of Class IX won Best delegate award at Ryan IN-MUN, First Inter School MUN. He created history by winning the highest award in such a big con-ference.

Keeping up with the vision of the Chairperson, Dr. (Mrs.) Amita Chauhan, Amity 46 as the Nodal centre for Gur-

gaon celebrated ‘Rashtriya Ekta Diwas ‘ and brought the noble ideas of Sardar Patel alive. On the occasion of his

Birth Anniversary, mass activities were planned and organized in the school campus on 31st OCTOBER 2014 under

the dynamic leadership of the Principal Mrs. Arti Chopra involving students of all age groups. This event was at-

tended by students of private schools such as Ajanta Public School, Rotary Public School and government schools

such as Government Girls Senior Secondary School, Government Model School etc.

To pay tribute to Sardar Patel, the Iron Man of India, who was instrumental in keeping India united, a number of

activities were conducted in the school. The event started with the pledge taken by the students to motivate

them to strive to maintain the unity and integrity of the country. As the Principal administered the pledge, the

voices of the students rose in unison to fulfill the dreams envisioned by our founding fathers. This was followed

by an inspiring march past by NCC cadets of the host school as well as the visiting schools. The key highlight of

the event was ‘ Run for the Nation’ which saw nearly 245 contestants run for the nation.

Activities which were conducted in school were Poster making, Collage making, Debates in English and Hindi,

Sports competitions like Kho- Kho and Chess competitions were also organized. The programme came to an end

with the Jingle on Sardar Patel and The Nukkad natak based on “Cyber Safety”.

Students of classes I to V enjoyed their visit to King-dom of Dreams along with their teachers.1495 stu-dents from classes I to V became the part of the fun filled experience in three different slots on 14th 16th & 17th October. They enjoyed the food and

shopping in the cultural gULLY and were enthralled

with the cultural performances presented there.

A Workshop on appropriate usage of Montessori material was organised by Ms. Mo-hina Dar in the premises of AIS-PV. Teachers from all branches of Amity participated in this and presented the topics assigned to them to showcase the best practices fol-lowed by them to teach various concepts. Ais -46 was lead by Sumity kapoor, Anuja Gupta and Neeta Jha for Mathematics of class 4 where they presented various fun filled activities to learn concepts like L.C.M , fractions etc using Jodo Gyan kit along with Montessori material. Ms. Rupinder , Shilpa , Gupreet and Padmasini also partici-pated to present activities of class 1 &2. This workshop was a great platform to share and learn various activities to enhance learning among children.
