COMMUNION SUNDAY — AUGUST 9
The Sacrament of the Lord’s Supper will be observed on Sunday, August 9, during both worship services. This is one of the most significant events in our church life and we encourage you to take time during the next few weeks and ask God to search your heart in preparation for communion. Anyone needing prayer is invited to join the pastors and eld-ers immediately following the worship services.

One of the distinctives of Chapin Presbyterian Church is the preaching of the Word of God. It is critical in this day and age to clearly proclaim the truth of the Scriptures. We have received good feed back about our summer series on the heroes of the Bible. It is al-ways exciting to study some of the great characters of the Bible and how we see Jesus working in them and through them. I have appreciated a little break from the weekly expositional teaching over the summer months. We plan to do a study in the
fall about the “Foundations of our Faith” in a study of the first three chapters of Genesis. God laid out His plan for mankind very clearly in these early verses. We need to be reminded of their truth and relevance to the culture today. Pray for your pastors and ask God to keep us faithful to study and preach the truth of the Bible. I hope you are all having a great summer. See you on Sunday. —Dan
“Preach the word; be ready in season and out of season;
reprove, rebuke, exhort, with
great patience and instruc-tion. For the time will come
when they will not endure sound doctrine; but wanting
to have their ears tickled,
they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accor-
dance to their own desires, and will turn away their
ears from the truth and will
turn aside to myths.” —II Timothy 4:2-4

ALL IN THE FAMILY
This is a big THANK YOU! First of all, thank you to all of the children (and parents) who sent food for We Care during VBS. I got a note from Don Paczynski (our We Care person) telling me we collected 470 lbs. of food! He said that it was wonderful in helping to refill the shelves during a very slow summer season. Good job kids!
Also, another big THANK YOU to Shirley & Buddy Kirby! You probably didn’t know this but for a very long time (maybe since the beginning of Chapin Pres) they have been baking the bread that is used during the Sunday communion services (when Dan breaks the loaf; that bread). We really appreciate their faithfulness for so many years. Alena Coulter is now going to be baking this bread, and we are grateful to her.
Be sure to note the Care Calendar for the Goings—214708/Goings. We all pray the Lord’s best for sweet Ruthie!
The Moveable Feast ladies will be lunching a the Social Grill in Ballentine this month. You know the drill, let me know if you can join us. Hope you can!
See you all Sunday! —Love, Helen

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO OUR HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO OUR
AUGUST BABIES!!AUGUST BABIES!!
“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for
men.” —Colossians 3:23
Preschool version: “Do everything for God.”
New verse for August: “I can do everything through Him who gives me strength.”
—Philippians 4:13
Preschool version: I can do everything because God gives me strength.”
Our new verse for August is a great one to hide in our hearts! Hope all HISKIDZ will have it memorized
soon!
We had a wonderful week at VBS, and we praise God for His abundant blessings! We had
approximately 150 children registered and 96 volunteers. We collected lots of cans
for We Care, met some missionaries that our church supports, learned lots about
Jesus, and gave out Bibles to children who didn’t have one. God opened the hearts
of several children to invite Him to be their Savior. It was a great week, and we say
THANK YOU to our church family for supporting our children’s ministry!
Our Sunday School lesson this week is about Moses and how God protects us.
