Thinking about the New Year
The Bible has a unique ministry in our lives, and there would be no
better plan for the next 365 days than to make a fresh commitment to
read, study, and apply the Word of God.
Reading God’s Word gives us special strength as Christians and a renewed
hope. God’s Word changes lives. Go deeper into God’s Word this year.
FBCH Special Guests for 2017
Sunday, January 22 Dr. Sonny Tucker As Executive Director of the Arkansas Baptist Convention, Dr. Tucker has a
“big picture” view of the needs and opportunities of churches just like FBCH.
He will be sharing a great word of encouragement and admonition as we
start the New Year.
Sunday, February 12 The Singing Contractors in Concert
Aaron Gray and Josh Arnett became viral sensations with over
14 million views of their videos. These real life contractors would break
into song while building homes. Little did they realize the ministry it
would become. They have now been featured on several major networks
and have sung in some of America’s largest churches – Prestonwood in
Dallas for one. Check them out on YouTube.
Sunday,-Wednesday, April 2-5 Dr. Herb Reavis Our spring revival effort will be led by one of Southern Baptist’s most
dynamic preachers. Dr. Reavis is the long time senior pastor of the great
North Jacksonville (FL) Baptist Church. These meetings will be the
culmination of our 40 DAYS ADVENTURE which begins February 19.
Sunday, August 26-27 Dr. Alan Branch
As Professor of Christian Ethics at Midwestern Southern Baptist Seminary,
Dr. Branch helps prepare students for real world culture clashes. This Army
Reserves Chaplain who served a tour in the Middle East brings to us a
“Worldview Weekend” which will help us provide Biblical answers to
difficult questions.
Friday-Saturday, October 27-28 Dr. Randy and Jeanne Davis Looking for a boost for your marriage? The Davises bring their
“Home Improvement” conference to help every married couple grow
the “ministry of marriage.” We will learn (and laugh) while under-
standing everyone is “a bit of a fixer-upper.” Dr. Davis serves as
Executive Director of Tennessee Baptist Convention after 30+ years as
a pastor. Jeanne is a sought after women’s conference speaker whose
experience includes teaching a young couple’s classes including one at FBC, Sevierville,
TN of 70-80 in attendance.
What’s happening in FBCH Student Ministry…?
Youth Mystery Retreat group picture Christmas Caroling
December was a great month of activity for our student ministry, even though it was a short month
with only two Wednesday night gatherings. The student ministry Christmas caroling night on December 7th
was a cold and bitter night, but the students that attended brought great Christmas cheer and joy to some of
our FBCH senior adults. I believe the students enjoyed as much as the senior adults that we were able to
minister to. The student ministry Christmas party was on December 14th. We enjoyed Christmas games,
gifts, music, food, and a Christmas devotional.
January brings the start of a new calendar year and I hope the start of a great second semester for
all our students. We are tentatively planning a 5th Quarter party after the Goblin basketball game on January
20th. In January we will also start promoting, getting information out, and signing up for an event called the
Lift Tour which will be on February 3-4th in Rogers, Arkansas. This is a youth conference that will challenge
us and inspire us in our walk with the Lord. The cost for this event will be $40.

“The Fruit of the Holy Spirit…What is Kindness?”
The resulting character of someone who is allowing the Holy Spirit to
develop maturity in his or her life. In the KJV kindness is called
“gentleness”.
Kindness is the characteristic that led God to provide salvation for us.
Kindness leads God to give us green pastures, quiet waters, and the
restoration of our souls when we’re weary. It is God’s tender care
that make Him want to gather us under His wings, to protect us and
keep us close to Him. On multiple occasions, kindness induced Jesus
to stop what He was doing and help others in need. And kindness
leads the Good Shepherd to rescue us when we stray.
When we exhibit the kindness of God, we are tender, benevolent, and
useful to others. Every action, every word will have the flavor of
grace in it. To maintain this attitude toward those we love is hard
enough. To express kindness toward those who are against us
requires the work of God. That is why kindness is a fruit of the
Spirit. You cannot help but be more kind to others if God’s love is
flowing through you.
A Kind Person: Gives Forgives Is thoughtful
Smiles, even in tough situations Is attractive
Is willing to be second
Does not insist on having his or her own way
Takes pleasure in pleasing others
Has a pleasant disposition Has goodness of heart
Has concern for others Is gentle
Is warm-hearted Is merciful
Is understanding Uses kind words
With these qualities you will not only be able to touch others and do
wonders for them, but you will also be able to touch yourself...it will
make you feel so much better.
PRACTICE KINDNESS… What a good characteristic
of a Christian and what this world needs more of.
