Dear CFHLA Friends,

The Central Florida Hotel and Lodging Association’s Foundation Board of Directors is proud to present this first ever Annual Report of the newly established CFHLA Foundation.

The CFHLA Foundation was first started in 2009 with funds from the 2008 CFHLA Gala Silent Auction Charity Partnership along with a donation from the CFHLA end of year surpluses. The CFHLA Foundation is currently funded through CFHLA Silent Auctions, Bacchus Bash, the CFHLA Allied Relations Council Bowling Event and Raffles, the CFHLA Engineers’ Council Charity Golf Outing and CFHLA End of Year Surpluses.

In 2012, the CFHLA Foundation began operating as a Public Foundation, serving as the Charitable Arm of CFHLA. The CFHLA Foundation donates to advance tourism initiatives, youth related causes and community advocacy. In 2012, the CFHLA Foundation Board of Directors established guidelines for all charitable giving and an “online” Grant Application.

To date, the CFHLA Foundation has supported numerous charitable organizations and events totaling nearly $105,000.

On Thursday, May 3rd at the CFHLA Membership Luncheon, CFHLA Awarded University of Central Florida -Rosen College of Hospitality Management with the largest grant to date—$100,000 over a ten year period for the naming rights of the Student Lounge.

CFHLA also secured the CFHLA Logo on the main wall in the student lounge as well as a flat screen television that will showcase a powerpoint loop highlighting Hospitality Events and Activities.

Colonial High School - $2,500 for Property Management Simulation System Software

Mid Florida Tech - $2,500 for Educational Scholarships for hospitality employees of CFHLA members

Orange County Public Schools - $2,500 for Trophies and Medals for Chef Competition Honorees

Valencia College Foundation - $2,500 for Hospitality Lab Education Software

2012 CFHLA Foundation Grants

Additionally, three $500 Grants were awarded to each of the following Organizations:• PAST, Inc. - (Wells Built Museum)• Destination & Travel Foundation - Frank Sain Scholarship Fund• Rotary Club of Dr. Phillips - Taste of Dr. Phillips Sponsorship

$5,000 was donated to the 2012 Grand Tour Gala. A portion of the

proceeds of this event support The UCF Rosen Hospitality Program.

$10,000 was donated to the UCF Foundation, Inc. for the Gary C. Sain Memorial Endowed Scholarship.

CFHLA 2012 Allied Relations Council Chairman Ross Marvin, with Lockhart Elementary School Teachers at the CFHLA Cereal Bowl for Adopt-A-School.

The CFHLA Engineers’ Council raised $16,000 in 2012 to support the CFHLA Foundation through their Annual Charity Golf Tournament. In 2012 the Council distributed $9,500 to support Bacchus Bash and the Women’s Residential and Counseling Center.

In 2012 The CFHLA Allied Relations Council earned $15,000, through raffle sales and a Charity Bowling Night, to support the CFHLA Foundation. Over $8,000 was distributed by the Allied Relations Council in 2012 to support their Adopt-A-School Partner, Lockhart Elementary School.
