The CBD edit
Innovation in action: the insider’s guide
to the insights and ideas impacting your
world. Spotted by the people who make
Happen, happen.
Source
October 2019
Estimates vary, but the CBD market is set to explode in the next few
years. We’re talking $20 billion by 2025 in the US alone, explode.
It’s a sign to innovators everywhere not to underestimate the enormous
marketable potential of just one ingredient - could anyone have foreseen a
market for CBD mascara? Entrepreneurs selling CBD - the non-
psychotropic element of the cannabis or hemp plant - used the already
booming snacking and wellness industries to propel the substance from
health stores to the mainstream consciousness. Powered by celebrity
ambassadors, they deftly built up their own highly identifiable vernacular
based on various (unproven) health claims, ranging from CBD's ability to
reduce anxiety and enhance cognitive functions. Offline, CBD has
transitioned to high-end boutiques, with standalone spaces in Barneys and
Saks Fifth Avenue in New York that have the look and feel of luxury beauty
stores. Combined with big brands like Vita Coco launching their own range
of CBD-infused drinks, the cannabidiol has truly gone mainstream.

Love Hemp
Spring water infused with CBD
Hemp water. It doesn’t sound appealing.
But the CBD-infused spring water from
Love Hemp is popular with athletes that
claim it helps them with training and
recovery. You would probably get a
similar effect by combining tap water
with CBD drops. However, the product
proves hemp is rapidly infiltrating all
categories to become a daily buy.

The Drug Store
CBD meets Scandi chic
CBD has moved from health food e-stores to the
high street - and it’s majestic. Unlike the hole-in-the-
wall vape stores that rapidly popped up to meet
demand, CBD has gone high-end. On that note...
The High End in Barneys’ Beverly Hills store
features CBD lifestyle and wellness products
ranging from beauty to jewellery, while Saks Fifth
Avenue’s Salon Project includes a spa-like CBD
Beauty Corner. In upmarket Marylebone, The Drug
Store was co-designed with Copenhagen studio
Lars Hartmann, spans two floors of a townhouse,
features treatment rooms and looks more like a
gallery than a store.

Endoca
CBD paste
CBD snacks and drinks frequently
contain negligible quantities of
cannabidiol - around 5mg to 30mg.
Many of the claims surrounding CBD,
including its ability to reduce anxiety and
improve cognitive functions, may only
kick in at far higher concentrations.
Enter Endoca’s Raw Hemp Oil, a thicker
oil containing plant waxes and a
whopping 3000mg of CBD.

CannaTrac
Cashless payments for cannabis
businesses
Cannabis-related products remain in a
legal grey area in the US and many
other countries. This makes it hard to
use normal banking services, so the
industry relies heavily on cash, which is
inconvenient and insecure for both
companies and consumers. CannaTrac
provides secure, cashless services via
its app, with participating businesses
carefully vetted.
