Let Us Pray! O Lord, giver of life and source of freedom, I know that all I have received is from your hand. Gracious and loving God, You call us to be stewards of Your abundance, the caretakers of all you have entrusted to us. Help us to always use Your gifts wisely and teach us to share them generously. Send the Holy Spirit to work through us, bringing Your message to those we serve. May our faithful stewardship bear witness to the love of Jesus Christ in our lives. We pray with grateful hearts, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Blessed Lord, accept this burning candle as a sign of my faith and love for You.
Like this candle, I am ready to be used in your service without asking why and to what purpose.
Even as this candle, I wish to stand in Your presence and to be consumed in the light and warmth of our
Love. Please hear my prayer and,
if it is Your will, grant my petition. But above all, make me loyal and faithful to You
in all circumstances of my life. Amen.

Memorial Day commemorates the men and women who died while in the military service of their country, particularly those who died in battle or as a result of wounds sustained in battle. The purpose of Memorial Day is to memorialize the veterans who made the ultimate sacrifice. We spend time remembering those who lost their lives and could not come home, re-flecting on their service and why we have the luxury and freedom that we enjoy today.

You may be asking: When are we opening up?
Since the bishop’s press release announcing the return to weekday masses beginning June first and weekend masses beginning June seventh, I have been asked by many parishioners what the plan is for our parish grouping. Obviously, we the clergy want to get back to celebrating in our churches with our parishioners as much as all of you however, in order to do so safely and effectively, there is a great deal of work to be done that will require a great number of volunteers. Those volun-teers should not be those who are considered to be in the most vulnerable and high risk group. We received a 42 page document of what we must do in order to open the churches to the public. The clergy team of priests and deacons met twice to discuss two very important questions. First question we discussed was whether can we accomplish what is re-quired in order to reopen our churches in a safe way that adheres to the requirements of the CDC, local government and diocese? Unfortunately, we came to the difficult reali-zation that we simply cannot reopen our churches for the celebration of weekend masses, due to many factors. The second question was discussing what we can begin doing to prepare to reopen, how soon, and what we can offer until then. Given the fact that we have five church build-ings, four that are very large and the smallest being Holy Angels, just having enough people to carry out all of the responsibilities needed in ways that are REQUIRED, is a great challenge. Additionally, trying to find and purchase all of the REQUIRED products and safety gear needed is very expensive and is difficult to find in a timely manner. It is my hope that we can open two locations in our parish for private prayer soon. Those locations would be in smaller chapel spaces where it would be much easier to carry out the REQUIRED sanitization each day. Both locations would only be available afternoons during the weekdays during regular office hours of 9 AM to 3 PM. Anyone utilizing the chapels for prayer will be RE-QUIRED to wear a mask and follow safe distancing. We are also hoping to be able to offer two daily masses at two different times. In order to do so and be-cause of limitations, we would only be able to celebrate those masses at Holy Angels in the beginning. When that time comes, we will STRONGLY encourage parishioners to only attend mass ONCE during the week so everyone will have an opportunity to attend. As circumstances change, we would adapt as well. We also figured out a way to offer confessions indoors, in a safe way that maintains all REQUIRED guidelines. Anyone seeking counseling will be asked to make an appointment at a later date with a priest so others have time for confession. I know there are a lot of questions about all of this and that many of you have suggestions and ideas to offer and for that I am so grateful however, there are very strict guidelines that must be followed with regard to both safety and sacramental. I am asking that you please not call or
email those ideas at this time as we work tirelessly and diligently to reach these goals for you. Having to respond to numerous emails and phone messages only takes away from our ability to work on these challenges. Many of you will be happy to know that while we work on these goals, we are trying to get set up to offer a live streamed Sunday mass. I would like to offer mass each week from a different church in our grouping and the clergy will take turns offering those masses. As you can see, there is a lot to try and accom-plish but with your patience, prayers and continued sup-port, and the guidance of the Holy Spirit, I believe we can do this.
So now you may be wondering, How will we know?
I am happy to let you know that I have assigned Nicholas Wolf as our communications leader. Nick has already set up our parish Facebook page and you will begin to find a great deal there. Additionally, I am work-ing on a parish news letter that we hope to mail to all reg-istered parishioners twice a month or at least monthly. If you have an interest in serving the parish in the ministry of communications with things like journalistic writing for the newsletter, website or facebook page, please call Nick at the parish office. As you know, the weekly bulletin is published on our parish websites and I am happy to say that beginning this weekend, they can now be picked up at any of our churches and offices. Just look for the little white pick-up boxes like the one pictured, at or near the entrances and take one.
Maybe you are thinking: What can we do?
Be proactive in your faith by reading the scrip-tures at home, read and learn about the Catholic Mass, it’s history, meaning and significance in our faith. Most im-portantly, keep praying for this virus to die off and the political weaponizing of the virus to end for the good of all of us. Let us not give up nor give in to what is happen-ing for the day will come when we will all be back togeth-er in our churches celebrating around the table of the Lord. Let us not give up on one another because we are a uniquely beautiful parish community filled with faith, hope and love, and nothing and no one can take that away. I am so blessed to be celebrating my 15th anniversary as a priest in such a wonderful and loving parish. You truly inspire me and make even some of the most challenging times so much easier with your love and support. Thank You and God Bless You. “And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meet-ing together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you
see the Day approaching.” ~ Hebrews 10:24-25

DEACON TIM’S BOOK & MOVIE REVIEW
There were 5 people on an airplane. It devel-oped problems and was probably going to go down. The problem was there were only 4 parachutes. Well former president Clinton noted how important he still was to the coun-try. He took the first chute and jumped. Next
was an NBA star. He said how important he was to his team winning the championship, took the second chute and jumped. Next Hillary Clinton said she was the wife of the former president and the smartest woman in the world. She took the third chute and jumped. That left a 10-year-old boy and Pope Francis. Pope Francis said he had a long and successful life and as a Christian gesture he told the boy to take the last chute. The boy said, “No problem. We still have two chutes left. The smartest woman in the world grabbed my backpack”. Today we hear Jesus say, “I will ask my Father”. Jesus was always speaking to his Father and of course he did that by means of prayer. He kept a constant path of communication open with his Father. I am afraid that we often treat prayer just as most treat a parachute. It is there in case of emergency. We avoid it if we can and only use it when we are in big trouble.
God loves to hear from us and enjoys speaking to us. Jesus tells us “to love God is the greatest com-mandment”. We spend a lot of time with those we love, and our Lord should be at the top of that list. So, say an extra prayer today, an extra prayer telling the Lord how much you love him. ~Deacon Mike “In Christ: We Are One, We Are Sent”

A parishioner recently thanked me for recommending a DVD that was under $7.00. For many, we are living tough fi-nancial times and this week's book can
help because it is under $7.00, but also because its sub-ject is known for helping in financial problems, as well as family problems. The book is called Favorite Prayers to St. Joseph, and it is a wonderful treasury of the most famous and beloved prayers ever addressed to this great Saint. Among the many prayers that are included in this book are Litany of St. Joseph, Novena to St. Joseph, Prayer to Obtain a Special Favor, Prayer to Obtain a Conversion, Devotion of the Seven Sundays, and many , many more. The book also contains comments about St. Jo-seph from other Saints, such as this one from St. Thom-as Aquinas "Some Saints are privileged to extend to us their patronage with particular efficacy in certain needs, but not in others; but our holy patron St. Joseph has the power to assist us in all cases, in every necessity, in eve-ry undertaking." Or this one from St. Teresa of Avilla "To other Saints, Our Lord seems to have given power to succor us in some special necessity, but to this glori-ous saint, I know by experience He has given the power to help us in all. As such, I proudly give this book Five Beards out of Five Beards. We all need to be praying more and this book will help us in many ways. Finally, please continue to pray the Divine Mer-cy chaplet at 3:00 p.m. and the Rosary with us at 8:00 p.m. every night.
