So it is appropriate that in May, the month of Mary, the North Harbour Parish Social
Justice Group is organising a collection of donated goods on behalf of the Asylum
Seeker Centre in Newtown.
The Asylum Seekers Centre provides practical and personal support for asylum
seekers living in the community. Their services include casework, accommodation, financial relief, health care
and counselling, employment assistance, education, advocacy, food and recreational activities. ASC is a not-for-
profit organisation and they rely on grants, donations and volunteers to undertake their work.
FOOD ITEMS: Breakfast cereal, spices and curry powder, tea, long life milk, instant
soups, chocolates and sweets, cooking oil, cous cous, rice noodles, pasta, tinned fruit and
vegetables, tinned fish, tomato paste.
TOILETRY ITEMS: nappies, deodorant, razors, shampoo, conditioner, soap,
toothbrushes, toothpaste, sanitary napkins, washing powder. Travel ten travel cards are
also much appreciated.
Boxes for the donation of goods will be provided at St Cecilia’s church, St Cecilia’s and

May the donated goods will be collected and transported to the Asylum Seeker Centre at Newtown.
