  • Poseidon Med II Key Activities

    LNG Small Scale Carrier

    Basic Particulars:

    L max = 120 m

    B = 19.4 m

    D= 10.9 m

    T= 5.8 m

    Cargo tank capacity :

    6,000-6,500 m3

  • Poseidon Med II Key Activities

    Shipyard Preparedness

    Diagnosis on the practical aspects of the shipyard fabrication, welding and NDE

    operations

    Assess the shipyards design and construction capability, quality and

    management systems, and competence of production and inspection personnel

    for successful delivery of a gas carrier.

    During the process of the assessment, the shipbuilder will:

    gain knowledge on those challenges for the design and construction of gas

    carriers

    identify which aspects shall be addressed during design and construction

    identify shortages on manning, knowledge and skills

    implement an action plan to close whatever shortages have been identified

  • Poseidon Med II Key Activities

    Regulatory Framework Follow up From theory to Legislative Action

    Training, Human factors, developing the competencies library, assessing the roles on scene POAC

    LNG Port Operations Safety of Infrastructure Basic idea of LNG bunkering ship

    Small scale LNG carrier + Special equipment on board

    Technical Issues Design issues

    LNG storage Use of LNG on LNG bunkering ship Way to handle BOG from own LNG

    tank and from LNG receiving ship Way to transfer LNG to LNG receiving

    ship

    LNG tank Propulsion system and LNG fuel supply

    system LNG bunkering interface with LNG

    receiving ships Special equipment on board

    Requirement for LNG tanks:

    Flexibility in partial cargo loading Easy boil-of gas management (To cope with unfixed bunkering

    schedule) Low boil-off rate (To avoid loss of quality and amount of cargo) Low cost and low weight
